Emergency Services Offered
Services we offer
Air conditioning & heating services & repair. Replacement of heating & cooling systems. New construction. Duct cleaning. Air quality needs.
Selection of new units and planning of installations was made during a few visits by Brent Johnson from Lin-Air. He patiently provided information on several options. The installation process was extremely well planned and performed by a well trained and competent crew. The whole work was completed, including thorough cleanup, in four hours. We are very satisfied with the new units and with the craftsmanship performed by Lin-Air.
Description of Work: Replace two old heating and A/C units on the roof with new and more efficient units. Modification of duct work on the roof and in the attic was required. Two thermostats were replaced.

They are awesome! They allowed me to try a repair, initially, with the understanding that if the repair didn't hold they would credit me what I paid toward a new unit. It did end up breaking a couple of weeks later. They were out the very next day, offered me a reasonably price unit, did the replacement, and gave me the credit. This was a great experience, all around!

I liked working with them because they were very responsive to phone calls. They seemed conscientious, and their price was reasonable. They did a good job. After he was finished, the individual that I was working with gave me his card and told me I could call him anytime.

I like talking with the people in the office. Changing filters is not a big deal, however it is the owners that I have been impressed with. I think that the price is a little high for the parts and service, but the quality would be an A.

After some sputtering for a while, the AC unit conked out in the heat of august. I had heard of Angie's list and decided to look it up. I finally decided to call LinAir which was highly rated on the list. Brent was on time, professional and seemed to be quite knowledgeable. We agreed on the work to be done and on the price, which seemed to be competitive. I would have appreciated knowing in advance, though, that the same tonnage replacement unit would be substantially larger than the old one (space being limited). The installation was well done and as planned for the agreed upon price.
Description of Work: Replaced AC unit (outside unit of a split system).

I remembered seeing an article about ANGIES LIST, so I signed up on September 25, 2009 and found Lin Air Service in Las Vegas. They had a wonderful overall report so I called. We were happy and surprised that they came out that very day. Gave us a fair quote and DID NOT have a service call fee. They ordered part and on the service man's day off, he came back the next morning and took care of everything for us. It was a wonderful experience. I will definately use LIN AIR SERVICE again and again! Dave was knowledgeable, easy to work with, explained everything in detail and only charged us for what was needed.
Description of Work: Our fan regulator panel on our furnace burned out. Before we signed up for ANGIES LIST, we had called a company a neighbor suggested and they wanted $650 for parts, $150 for labor and the service call just to come by was $69.00. We felt this company was scamming us...they also tryed to sell us a maintainence agreement...that made no sense for $40/mo.

The next morning he arrived on time, and the work was completed in 30 minutes. He also did a complete diagnosis of the system and found the previous company had not wired the defrost relay correctly, so we were not getting the correct amount of heat from that pump during the winter months. He corrected that wiring problem, and gave the rest of the system an okay. Needless, to say, I was grateful to have an honest repair technician do the job without trying to price gouge me, or do faulty work only to have repeat business. Checking Angie?s list first probably saved me $350, as that is how much more the original company charged me for the faulty motor and wiring job.
Description of Work: When the fan motor went out on my downstairs heat pump, I decided to call Lin Air after researching all the positive comments people had concerning this company’s work. The technician arrived as scheduled and promptly went to work diagnosing the problem. As I had suspected, the technician informed me the motor installed by the previous company two years ago was not the right motor for that particular brand of heat pump, and it had consequently burned itself out. He stated he would have to go back to the shop to get the right motor, and since it was late in the afternoon, he would have to return the following morning.

FABULOUS. I called on Friday and the units were installed the next Tuesday. The price was thousands, yest thousands, less than two other vendors in Las Vegas I found on Angie's List. These folks are the best!!! They install American Standard which is top of the line and they have a 10 year parts and labor warranty. Call around to get a couple of other bids to satisfy yourself, but don't settle for something like Goodman which is what contractors install in tract homes. Also, do this now because on 1/1/10, you will have to install new air handlers too which will double your costs at least.

We set the time up and Brent cam out a few days before to make sure we were on the same page and there were no issues to slow the process down. On the 25th, Brent and a group of 6 workers descended on the house and got to work. They were done in 2 1/2 hours. They were clean, and put down tarps throughout the work area and halls. They installed a 3.5 ton 14 SEER unit for the same price as the original quote. It all went smoothly with the exception of a minor spill of PVC glue in the closet. They did their best to clean it up and gave me a fair credit for me to put some paint over it after offering to do it themselves. All the detailed things he said he would do were completed, too.
Description of Work: From Brent's previous visit, the quote was $5500 for a complete 13 SEER American Standard system, plus $1000 to upgrade to the variable speed unit. I opted for the variable unit.

In March 2009 we researched AC/Heating units because the units we had were 14 years old. Received estimates, warrenty and service information. In August 2009 one of our units died and Lin Air was called to try to get it back into service. It worked for a few hours and died again. We called Lin Air and discussed replacing both units. They arrived the next business day with a crain, a team of workers and the two new energy saving units. The money paid for the service call was refunded and the price quoted in March turned out to be a little less. Two high quality touch screen control panels were also installed upper and lower levels of the house and we have not been cooler ;)
Description of Work: Install two AC/Heating units. Disconnected and removed the old units and halled away.

I called Lin Air at about 9am and spoke to Brent. He was polite, professional, and knowledgeable on the phone. He got here at about 11:30, very prompt and courteous. He looked at the a/c unit on the roof and quickly figured out the problem. He explained it thoroughly and easy to understand. He took the time to call my husband (he is out of the state right now) and explain all the different options and what each one would entail, including price, time frame, and efficiency. After letting the condenser cool down for about 24 hours so he could work on it safely, they were able to quickly fix the problem and at a very low expense. They replaced the fan motor and cleaned the condenser coils. The air conditioner works great now! I highly recommend the staff at Lin Air, quick, thorough, and low price service.

30yr old house with original HVAC unit. We woke up Thu AM to a very hot house. After getting desperation pricing (high quotes) from another contractor, I called Lin Air because of the Angie's List ratings. I spoke to Brent at 3:30PM and said that Lin Air comes highly recommended by Angie's List. Explained the situation. Good prices (quoted by phone) on both the higher efficiency and regular efficiency units. He came to the house at 4:30PM, checked out the old unit and pronounced it dead beyond salvation (no surprise). Discussed options. Scheduled an install for early Friday afternoon. The next day (Friday), Lin Air arrived around noon and the a/c was running by 2:30PM. So, at the end of July in Vegas, Lin Air put a new HVAC on my house in less than 24 hours from when I first contacted them! After the install, I told Brent that I have trouble with uneven cooling throughout the house (vaulted rooms hot, 8ft ceiling rooms cool) and Brent offered to replace some registers (vent covers). That was done on the following Wednesday and it really helped, now the house is pretty much the same temperature throughout.
Description of Work: Replaced 30 year old 4ton HVAC unit with new American Standard 5ton 14SEER. Also replaced registers (vent covers) to balance the cooling throughout the house.

Called Lin-Air due to their outstanding rating on Angie's list. Called office Mon at 8:30. Brent called back by 9:30 to talk about the problem. I gave him the symptoms and told him I was most likely to want to replace the system due to the age (19 years) He said he'd be out that day. He was out to the house by 1:00. The freon had mostly leaked out causing the problem. He talked to me on the phone since I was out of town and my wife was at home to let him in. After diagnosis, we talked for nearly half a hour about our options. He recommended we try to let the system struggle through the next month so it could be replaced when it was a bit cooler outside. I asked for quotes for the outside unit and the entire system, which he left with my wife. He charged up the system and left the quote. Amazingly, he didn't charge for the visit. I guess a bet on getting the installation. Good bet! The quotes were $2600 for the outside unit (3-ton Amer Standard) and $5500 for the whole system. Seems like a really good price. Brent made several references to going out of his way for Angie's list customers, and it showed with this visit. I'll be scheduling the system replacement soon!
Description of Work: Came back over weekend from out of town to A/C unit not cooling. Had been recharged a month ago, but apparently mostly leaked out. Only cooling air 5 degrees from 20 previously.

I reported the problem on 7/23/09, a serviceman was sent within a few hours, diagnosed the problem and gave me my options. Since I had to finance the money, the actual work could not be done until the next day. They came at the scheduled time and did the work efficiently and cleaned up after themselves. They explained how to use new thermostat and told me to have a roofer check the shingles around the new unit. I am very pleased with the new unit...cooling more effectively than my older unit. They accepted my angies list coupon for $100 off without question.
Description of Work: My airconditioner was not working properly, ie...was not cooling. Promptly sent serviceman to check problem. I was told that both fans would need replaced and the coils would need cleaning, however, since the unit was 32 years old and it had been 15 years since compressor was replaced and 6 years since motor on outdoor fan was replaced, I was given the option of replacing the fans and cleaning coils or replacing entire unit. I felt it was time to replace the unit for a more energy efficient unit.

Update as of 7/19/2009: After making my initial post this morning I tried to reach Brent via his direct email with my concerns and the issue from this morning to ask one more time if he wanted to bid my job. Much to my surprise and delight not only did he respond immediately to my email but told me that with Angie's List he values those clients very highly. I will be calling him on his cell phone directly to discuss my air conditioner further. This is what I was hoping for in the beginning but as one saying goes "better late than never." Just wanted to set the record straight for Brent and for his company. Thanks.
Description of Work: After checking my list for a air conditioning company, chose Lin Air based on the information provided and the numerous happy reports. However, the answering service (it is a Sunday morning) told me that their procedures require you to have had service with them in the last 30 days before they can come out and service your air conditioner. I told her I have no air, I consider it an emergency and she again said she was sorry but if I have not used them in the past they could not help me. Perplexed I returned to view their bio again...and nowhere is that mentioned in all of their accolades. Might want to clue us Angie's List members in with that huge requirement. Informed by answering service if I have not had service from them in the past month that they won't be able to help me.

We truly apologize for this confusion. Unfortunately sometimes the answering service that we use does not always have the same level of customer service that we strive for. We use Answer Plus and 99.99999 percent of the time they are wonderful. In this particular case we just had to make some adjustments to our protocol. Specifically any customer who calls from Angie's List any time of day will be paged to our on-call person. I have also posted my personal email which I receive 24 hours a day directly to my iphone. We hope these measures will make it possible for Angie's List customers to at least speak with a Lin-Air representative any time of the day or night.

I arrived home after having been gone for 2 weeks to find the first floor of my home feeling like an oven. I called Lin Air and spoke with a lovely women who seemed genuinely concerned. She arranged for someone to be at my home within a few hours. Brad arrived promptly. He was pleasant and professional, and diagnosed the problem right away. He changed out the burned out fan motor and replaced the boost on the compressor. He did all of this outside in 110 degree weather. Then he took the time to check out my second unit. I could not have asked for a better experience.

I was immediately impressed with the professionalism of Brent Johnson. He was obviously knowledgable about his field, and was able to accurately explain the problem and its various remedies. He provided me with detailed contact numbers and was very prompt in his response any time we contacted him to set up the time for the replacement of the A/C unit. On the day of the installation, he and his crew arrived promptly and went right to work. His crew, as well, obviously knew what they were doing, and were in and out within two hours. They left no debris around the work site. Anyone I dealt with from this company, from the gals in the office to the men who did the installation, was friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. I have already discussed with Brent having him return in the fall to do an inspection on my heating unit. I would use his company again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: I was getting three estimates on the job of repairing the A/C unit of my newly purchased home. He arrived promptly and found the problem immediately. I was impressed with his company's professionalism and with Brent himself. They weren't the least expensive but they were, by far, the most professional. We immediately scheduled the replacement of the A/C unit with Lin Air. Brent and his crew arrived 10 minutes or so before the scheduled time on the replacement date and were in and out in less than two hours, even installing a new digital programmable thermostat for free.

Excellent service. They were extremely responsive. Every phone call or text message was returned promptly. Brent came out on the same day I called to give us an estimate and kept in contact about scheduling an appointment for the job. He was direct about what we needed and didn't need. There was no pressure or upselling. Everyone was professional. The job was completed with no problems and no stress. We were entirely satisfied. I also like that it is a family-owed business.

When we decided we wanted to do this, I began with Angie's List. I was focused on companies that had a high volume of reviews, not just a few, and whose reviews were consistently outstanding. It turned out to be this company. Brent, one of the brothers in this family-owned business, said he would be at the house between 9 and 9:30 on the designated day to meet for the first time and discuss details. Just a couple minutes past 9 he called to say he was caught in a traffic detour because of some unknown problem on the inerstate and gave us a new arrival time estimate, which was pretty close to the timeframe he said he would be at the house in the first place. This is noteworthy because in our experience, some contractors never even show, or come much later than when they said they woluld, but you never hear from them to say they're running late. He was personable and knowledgeable and didn't pressure us to buy any extra features, such as air filtration devices, etc. I called him a couple days later to confirm our equipment selection and to establish an installation date. From the day we first met at the house (Friday) until the installation was completed (following Wednesday) was five days, and that included a weekend. So, we were up and running with a brand new system within three business days of our initial contact. Pretty responsive. On installation day Brent and his crew showed up around 10:30 AM and the job was complete around 4. They were very conscientious about cleanliness, putting down plastic sheeting and vacuuming the work area when finished. The entire experience was an uncommonly good one. I marked "NA" on "price" because, unlike usual, I didn't get estimates from other companies. I took a chance and relied solely on the reviews of this company in Angie's List. So, did we get a fair and reasonable price or not, I don't know, but my sense is that we did.

Had them come out for an estimate. I was told that I needed to replace the unit and that it would run about $2500 due to the fact that the compressor was bad and a few other things. I called Hawthorn HVAC for a second look. The cap wasn't getting power so they fixed that. Total cost was under $200. I'm not implying that anyone was dishonest, but that is kind of a big mistake to let happen. They seemed very nice on the phone and they did come right out when I called them. People make mistakes and I will chaulk this up as such, but I don't think that I can use them again.

Unfortunately our technician apparently made a mistake. Anytime a repair of this magnitude is recommended we encourage customers to get second opinions. In this particular case this customer was never billed for the service call and was actually told a bandaid repair could possibly be made but it was not our recommendation. The part that was eventually changed by another company typically only goes bad when the compressor is starting to fail which is what the customer was told. In the long run the quick fix may prove to lead to more costly problems. In this case our customer was not happy and felt mislead which means we made a mistake and did not do our job for this we apologize.

Estimate was about half of two previous quotes (andno extended sales pitch!). Entire process took only 3 hours. Brent returned later to install filters and explain the thermostat to her.
Description of Work: Replaced air conditioner/heater unit. I found Lin Air on Angie's List for my 87 year-old mother, who had an older unit that probably needed replacing soon. Entire unit was replaced and a new thermostat was added.
