+ -1 moreKamau is awesome! I had a problem with my electrical service panel that needed an electrician to fix. The panel itself had heat problems and the insulation was melted at one spot. I decided to replace the panel, but I wanted to upgrade the service to 200 amps. I spoke to a few electricians and Kamau seemed to have the most confidence and assured me he could upgrade the service with no problems. I decided, then, to hire him to do the job. He sent out a well detailed proposal that was complete and easy to understand. And he sent me a receipt for each payment. I don’t live in Las Vegas, so we had to do this long distance. Kamau was very accommodating. He took care of everything – permit, service disconnect with NV Energy, etc. I did get an opportunity to see him start the work. He removed some drywall from the garage, behind the service panel. And he moved the J-box that supported the doorbell transformer. I was impressed how clean and efficient he worked. His work on it took a couple days, but the job took about 3 weeks to complete – it took a while for NV Energy to get out to the house to disconnect the electricity. Kamau replaced the old panel with a new, 200 amp panel and wired in all the circuits. He also got the inspector’s approval (and sticker) on the job. Now, I have a new 200 amp service with extra space for more circuits. The job went exactly as Kamau explained in the beginning. My experience with Kamau was very pleasurable. I highly recommend him to anyone needing electrical service.

+ -1 moreI had called to have a dedicated circuit run to a home office that I assumed was an overload due to mutliple office equipment. Kamau arrived within 4 hours of my original call, reviewed my requeset and testing the existing circuit advising that it should handle the equipment load with no problem and diagnosed a likely defective circuit breaker which was replaced. His dedication to troubleshooting the problem saved me much time and expense of tearing open walls to run a new circuit which is what I had originall requested.

+ -1 moreWhen I first called Kamau he thought it might be something he could just walk me through over the phone. (I thought that was very nice considering it was my first time dealing with this company) It was more serious than just a GFCI so he suggested he might be able to come that afternoon or the next morning. He called at 315 that afternoon and they were there in 10 minutes. Kamau and his assistant Jacques came in and knew exactly what the problems were and had everything in their truck to fix the problems in less than an hour. When he gave me my bill I was pleasantly surprised at the cost. Not only were they both professional but very personable as well. I would recommend this company without hesistation.
Description of Work: I had no power to my microwave, stovetop and washer/dryer. There was also a short in some plugs in the kitchen and whenever I would turn the lights on it would pop and the lights would go out.

Description of Work: Removed existing light bar and created two new light outlets, installed lights. Returned the next day after I crossed wires trying to install a second set of lights; removed my improperly installed lights and installed the new ones.

They saved me money and I was able to fix the issue in 5 seconds! I was so happy that they were willing to help me fix the problem and not charge me unnecessarily. I would absolutely recommend them as I appreciate their honesty and integrity. That's hard to come by these days.

+ -1 moreOverall, this was a great experience. My biggest problem with any contractor is lack of promptness and inefficiency. Neither happened here. He was on time, on budget, and quickly assessed what was needed for the job and got it done. I would highly recommend Kemet Electric LLC for any of your electrical work.
Description of Work: Having purchased a wall mount electric fireplace, I needed an electrician to install a socket higher in the wall than a normal placement and in order to do so, Kemet Electric needed to cut into the dry wall from the existing socket, run the wiring to the new socket, plus cut drywall and install a wooden brace to hold the weight of the fireplace. The work was done quickly, efficiently and he was very pleasant to deal with. I could not be more pleased with his work and he also recommended an excellent drywall man who quickly came the next day, replaced the drywall and repainted.

Description of Work: I experienced an outage on one of my circuits. As the breaker was not tripped, I was not sure what had happened. It turns out that the problem circuit had caused me problems in the past as I have too much on that particular circuit. But in the past, the overload would trip the breaker and I would simply reset it (did realize that I had to address this issue at some point), but this time the breaker was not tripped. As I always do, I went to Angies list and selected Kemet as they were very highly rated by past customers. I was not disappointed and can see why Angies list followers love this company. First and foremost they were able to come out the same day which was most helpful. Because it was a circuit that I have had overload problems with we all assumed that I had too much on the circuit, but again the breaker was not tripped. So, Kamau and his associate ( I have forgotten his name.....it is an age thing) began tracing the line and after about an hour of process and elimination they found the problem which was a disconnected wire in the outlet on the garage ceiling! Somehow it had come loose. I was impressed with the dogged determination they exhibited in trying to find the cause of the outage. Even more amazing, I was only charged $85 ( gave them an extra $15) for their time! I told Kamau that was more than reasonable for the amount of time they spent solving my problem. As a new resident here in Las Vegas, I can say that I have found an electrician that I can trust to help me with any future electrical needs. Thanks again Kamau!

+ -1 moreWe needed an electrical outlet on the east side of the house to provide electricity for our new drip irrigation controller. A week or so ago, I called several highly rated electricians whom I found on Angie's List. When I spoke to Kamau Bakari, the owner of Kemet Electric, he knew exactly what I wanted and he quoted me an excellent fixed price for the job ($125 BEFORE his generous $20 Angie's List discount coupon). I told him that I wanted him to do the work, but I wasn't ready to schedule the work at that time. Yesterday afternoon, I emailed Kamau to let him know that we were ready to proceed. He called me in the evening to say that he could do the work in the morning. Today, Kamau and his assistant, Omar, arrived promptly (early, in fact), after calling to let us know that they were on their way. They got right to work, installing the new outdoor electrical connection/outlet by tapping into an existing electrical outlet on the inside of the house. They also installed a light switch where we previously had a broken timer switch. Both jobs were completed well before the morning was over--less than 24 hours after I had emailed to schedule the work.
Description of Work: We had an outdoor electrical outlet installed and a light switch replaced.

Listened to the problem I was having, tested the outlets, and knew it was a GFI problem immediately. Just had to search out the right one, Problem solved in less than 30 minutes and it took me a week to finally call for help!
Description of Work: Bathroom outlets and lights not working. Couldn't find out why on my own, so called Kemet Electric to find the problem. Located a GFI in the garage that I never knew was there. Problem solved!

He considered the project, which involved the possibilty of three locations and manners of installation of the outlet. We had a special project which involved other equipment being installed, so they provided additional consultation for consideration. Brought dropcloth and cleaned up after installation; brought proper parts and tools.
Description of Work: Kemet responded and performed work the same day, cleanly and proficiently installing a new electrical outlet and adjusting a problematic ceiling fan.

Description of Work: I just joined Angies list on the 13th of July. I needed to have some lights fixed went onto site and read through the names and reviews of the locals here in Las Vegas. I decided upon Kemet Electric for my services. I called on the 14th July in the morning and got the owner Kamau who said that he could be there around three o'clock I agreed. He called within a short while and said he could be here in thirty minutes I said fine. He promptly showed up he and his assistant came in laid out a tarp, found the problem and fixed it. I would highly recommend this company.

+ -1 moreIt’s a one man operation. His prices are outstanding. He’s very neat. He makes sure that his helpers are in constant touch with him. He’s very careful and meticulous about the mess and he cleans up. Some contractors don’t bother doing it. He goes an extra mile of cleaning it up. He wears the booties anytime he comes inside the house. He’s our electrician and we will use his services again in the future.
Description of Work: We used Kemet Electric LLC. We last used his services probably in the mid of May. We use him as our electrician. He hung a ceiling fan for us.

+ -1 moreAfter the electrician that the bulder recommended cancelled at the very last minute, we called Kemet Elecric. He arrived within an hour. He was extremely personable and obviously knowedgable. Performed all of the work we needed as we expected and since he had to cut through a good bit of the wall to run the line, he made sure that she carefully saved the wallboard and put it back in place to save us as much money as possible on the sheetrocking. Since we didn't know anyone he even suggested a person he thinks does great work.
Description of Work: We needed a line run and outlet added in our garage for the water heater we were having installed.

+ 0 moreThe whole process was great. I called for an estimate and he arrived that afternoon. He scheduled me in quickly, working around my schedule. He arrived on time and the new wiring, building of the 2 fans and installing was done in about 3 1/2 hours.
Description of Work: We needed to have 2 ceiling fans installed in our upper floor. There were not any boxes in the ceiling, so they had to be completely wired in. Kemet Electric was quick, courteous and cleaned up after the job. I will definitely call them again when I need more electrical work done.

+ 1 moreI spoke with Kamau on the phone and I was able to schedule him with a minimum of waiting. When he saw what I wanted he suggested a much better approach to the job that what I originally suggested. He explained that my way would detract fromt he value of the home while his would enhance it. It was slightly more expensive to do it his way, but I could easily see the value of his idea. He and his assistant got right to work and knocked the job out quickly. They did an excellent job and cleaned up afterwards. Kamau is a very likeable guy and does excellent work, so I called him again to replace a ceiling fan. He again did an excellent job and I really enjoyed chatting with him as he worked. We also noticed a chandelier which was improperly installed and he repaired that too. I will be calling him again because I noticed a couple more minor problems. I highly recommend Kamau.

The biggest part was that I had to go back to Lowes twice to get new lights as one was broken in the box and the one I exchanged it for did not work so I had to get another. Both times, Kamau waited for me to return when he could have said I will come back later. The work was quick and looks great. Also, he was great with my dog. Thank you!

He was able to help me for free in about 10 minutes!! I'm a single woman living alone and dread these phone calls. This company really impressed me because they could have easily come out and charged me for this service.......I would definately call them again in the future.
