Gold Glass

Sometimes a family-owned business is a good thing. Sometimes it's like GoldGlass. GoldGlass came and took measurements for an estimate for my shower glass. When no one had called me back for 2 days, I phoned them and was told they couldn't do the job, that it was "too hard"; that my bathroom was "too small"; that there wasn't room. (There is room; the bathroom is 5 feet wide, which is not uncommon.) They would not give me an estimate, wasted my time, and furthermore the woman in the office was very rude about it. This was not my only issue with this company. Friendly men did the measuring, and although I liked them, there was a serious language barrier such that communication was difficult. The main person had a heavy accent and spoke broken English. He seemed to have only one way of doing my glass and door, and would not offer any alternative even though I asked. All the while saying "It's up to you" as well as "Door heavy, lay down." And even though I was willing to alter my towel hanging hardware to accommodate their suggested hanging method, they would not offer me an estimate. I feel this is unprofessional on their part. In the end, I am certainly glad to NOT have GoldGlass do work for me, given that they were unable to do what I wanted. What I want, I do see done by other glass companies, and one of them will have my business for this bathroom, as well as another one or perhaps two bathrooms in my house. What I wanted is not strange, unusual, dangerous, nor impossible. There is more than one way to do things, but this man had no alternative other than his way. I am sorry I ever contacted this company. They have no customer service skills. I do not recommend GoldGlass.

***DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH GOLD GLASS*** Very unprofessional! Last week I ordered a few pieces of glass from this business. Yesterday i picked up the sheets of glass. However, when I got home I realized that one piece, the largest, was off by 10 inches. I called them today and told them that there was a mistake and the piece was too small. The "manager" I spoke to said "first of all, I don't know who this is..." Nice way to speak to a customer. He then said he would call me back. When he called me back he said insisted that the invoice and measurements were correct, and that I must have ordered the wrong size. I told him that the measurements were correct and that his employee probably wrote them down wrong. When I ordered the pieces, I had the measurements in my phone notes and showed them to the employee. I asked what can we do to fix the situation. He said there was absolutely nothing they could do. Apparently, I unknowingly agreed to an "all sales are final" deal. I asked if I could exchange the piece and pay the difference if there was one. He said no. I would have to buy a new piece. Their employees were all rude and made it clear from the start that they did not want to help me. When I went to the store to pick up and pay for the glass. I wanted to pay cash, the manger snapped at me because they didn't have change and said "just use a credit card". Excuse me sir, I'll pay whatever way I want or I won't buy your crap. Of course, this business demands 50% payment in advance (super sketchy way to do business). That should have been a red flag right there.
