I noticed the fan on the freezer seemed to be running very hard (loud) and constantly too. We had a service tech come to the house and explained to him our concerns. He promptly hooked the refrigerator to his computer to run his and quot;testsand quot; removed a few items from the freezer around the blower vent and then proceeded to tell us nothing was wrong with the unit. When I questioned him about the fan running non stop and loud he said that was normal. He went on to say that he didn't want just to replace something if nothing was wrong, which I appreciated, but it still didn't seem right to me that the fan would run non stop and so loud. We discussed the defrost timer - but again - that couldn't possibly be the problem. With no other choice we paid the service fee and he left saying that if we did need further service the fee would be good for 30 days. The following Friday - the fan was still running non stop, but now the temperature on the refrigerator side was seeming to go up. I called the toll free number to request service again and they said their earliest appointment would be the following Tuesday. On my second call they said they could possibly scheudule us on Monday between 8AM and 5PM but could not guarantee they would be able to make it that day. Not wanting to loose everything in the unit I called another service company who was able to schedule and appointment that same day. Within minutes of the new tech coming through the door he confirmed that something was wrong and that the fan should not having been running as hard or as long as it was. He removed everything from the freezer and then removed the back panel in the unit to find the coils completely frozen over. He replaced the necessary parts and now the temperatures have returned to normal and the fan does not run 24/7. I would still be waiting onGE to show up for the appointment. No computers were used the second visit just some common sense. I never thought twice abouit contacting GE for service when I first noticed the problem. Now I will never call them again,
