Horrible. We were happy with the laptop for about three months but then something malfunctioned on the laptop. We don't blame this on Fry's, just luck of the draw with a refurbished computer. Over the phone, a Fry's Tech told us it was either something wrong with the screen or the motherboard. We paid $189 dollars for the three year service package. When we took the computer in, the representative at the repair counter explained that the diagnostic process and repair was covered by the fee we paid but that if we had any files saved but not backed up, we would lose them unless we paid another $100 dollars or maybe it was $150 dollars, I don't remember exactly. I do remember being a bit offended by the upsell strategy, but I called my wife to ask because we were thinking about pictures, music, documents, that sort of thing. I even asked the representative if that's what he was talking about and he said yes. My wife said that there were only a few pictures on there that were not backed up and that she didn't mind losing them so I told them "no". It took a couple of weeks to get the laptop back which is longer than we were led to believe but here comes the real issue we had. When we got the computer back, Microsoft Office and Bitdefender were gone. We never thought that Software that we purchased through Fry's would be removed or lost. We still thought the problem was related to the screen as this was their initial thought of what the problem was. If you can back up whatever is on the computer so that it isn't lost, why would we have to pay Fry's $100 or $150 dollars to save the stuff that we just paid for at Fry's three months earlier? When we brought the laptop in for the repair we had our original paperwork which included the receipt shiowing that we purchased Office and Bitdefender. Now, if someone would have said, "Hey, we see that you purchased Office and Bitdefender from us so we will make sure these items are still on your machine after any repairs." well now that would have been good service. Evidently the sale of the laptop, Microsoft Office, Bitdefender, and the service contract purchases were not enough. Fry's still wanted more of our money. If they would have explained that we would not only lose pictures and files that were not backed up, but also software that we purchased through Fry's, we would have taken the computer back home, had our friend Schad back up the software for us, and then taken it back for the repair. I called to ask about all of this and the shift supervisor said she would speak with a store manager about the issue and call me back. She didn't. I called again and got an assistant manager(?) who did call me back the next day to tell me that she spoke to the store manager who said they might be able to help us with getting bitdefender reloaded on the machine. (we have the disk but can't find the authorization code) but could only offer us $30 dollars off of a repurchase of Microsoft Office 2013. I was quite amused. We really thought this was horrible business. After a couple of calls to Microsoft, I was able to get Office reloaded on the laptop. Our review of the Microsoft folks is A+. Fry's in Las Vegas gets an F. We are pretty sure that this is a picture perfect example of what it means to get screwed and jerked around. It is highly unlikely that we will ever return to any business that says "Fry's" over the door. You got us Fry's, I'll admit, you got us good. We'll take the lesson and move on.
Description of Work: Sold us a refurbished HP laptop, Microsoft Office 2013, Bitdefender antivirus, and 3 year repair and service agreement.

I bought an Acer computer at Fry's. The salesman specifically said that, unless I bought a $70 insurance contract, I could not return the computer to Fry's if there was a problem, but would have to send it to Acer. Well, there was a problem. I contacted Acer, but they do not allow warranty registration for seven days after purchase(quite a surprise), but referred me to a third party which cost me an additional $199. When I complained to Fry's I was asked why didn't I just bring it back to them. I replied that their salesman said I could not. Then Fry's pointed out that, on the back of the receipt there is allowance for return to them for 30 days. I believe that in the attempt to sell their insurance programs the salesmen are instructed not to mention the 30 day return policy, and he certainly did not mention that I would have no Acer warranty coverage for seven days.

There told me that were 2- $5.00 rebates for that item. I got the information from the website for the rebate. I called Fry's back and they explained where I could get the rebate form. I then called the electronic company, Patriot, and they told me that there is only 1 $5.00 rebate available, not 2 as Fry's had told me. I called Fry's back and spoke with Kayla, who was very rude to me. I ended up having to call back 3 times before finally speaking with a manager, Liz. She was unwilling to give me her employee ID or last name so I was unable to resolve the issue with her.
Description of Work: I purchased a flash drive from them.

A technician came to my home about three months ago, and I have had no problems since. I found that his work was good and I have no complaints. The technician was friendly. I would not hesitate to use their services again.
Description of Work: Fry's Electronics came and cleaned up the memory on my computer and installed a wireless modem.

Fry's Electronics is an incompetent company in my opinion. They had my computer for three months and did nothing with it. They did not do what was suppose to be covered under warranty. I finally got fed up with them and went somewhere else. I think that they are not very good with anything that has to do with fixing a computer.
Description of Work: They fixed my computer as it wouldn't turn on at all. It completely shut down.
