My name is Larry. I used Fix-A-Pool. In hindsight it was a huge mistake. I am 75 so I have had a lot of years to make a lot of mistakes. Using Fix-A-Pool was one of the bigger and more costly mistakes I have made. I thought I was doing everything right. I got four estimates. I checked out the reviews and complaints. I still ended up with Fix-A-Pool. Big mistake. Something I didn’t do is check with friends and neighbors. I should have. Two neighbors subsequently told me about pool companies that they have used with very good experiences. Please, please, please don’t make the same mistake I did using Fix-A-Pool.

Having been a small business owner I rarely write negative reviews because I know how it could impact a business, however potential clients need to be aware that this company has no regard for the customer or their time. I contacted Fix a Pool in early March 2021 and “Kelly” came on a Friday to out to look at the job. A very personable man who according to him had extreme experience in building and assessing pools. I was impressed (he was obviously very impressed with himself) and I even called his boss Leonard to tell him what a good employee he had, not realizing at that point I had been duped. I was told I would get an estimate early the following week. Well, I waited a month and never got so much as a call or an e-mail from the company. I figured I’d give them a call and try to find out what the status of the estimate was. I spoke with Leonard who had no idea who I was or what I was talking about. He told me he would get right on it and get back to me. He text me later and asked for my name and address. I provided my name, email, address and phone number. Never got a return call or email. 2 days later I called again, and he again had no idea who I was. After reminding him of our conversation and adding that he said he would go home and call me right after work he remembered and apologized and blamed his employee for not preparing an estimate. He stated he would contact his employee and get back to me. I waited a couple of days and called again. Again, he had no idea who I was. He explained that he was extremely busy and spoke to lots of people during the course of a day. He asked for my information again which I provided. Now it was no surprise that I didn’t hear back from him. This company obviously thinks their time is more valuable than a customer it seems like they think they are doing you a favor by taking your money. Owners should never blame employees for their failings, they should take responsibility and correct the problem. If you don’t have time to do a job, just tell the customer don’t string them along. If this is how they treat someone prior to getting a job imagine the excuses they would come up with for being late, not showing up or providing sloppy or inferior work. I feel like I escaped an execution given the above circumstances. Buyer beware. One more thing, got to wonder if they have friends and family post positive reviews on Google and Yelp.

We first spoke to Leonard from Fix a Pool on Thursday 6/21/18 he was expected to come for consultation on that day, but he called to make it the following day which was okay. On Friday 6/22/18 he told us we needed a new capacitor for filter, and we then spoke about draining and acid wash the pool and spa. Also setting up the timer for the pool and balancing the water as well which he did not do. He gave us a price sent us an email and we agreed for the work to be done and he told us he had to order the capacitor, and he would be here to start the work on Monday morning 6/25/18 and work would be completed and start refilling the pool back up on Wednesday the 27th. On Monday he was scheduled to be at my home at eleven. I waited for three and half hours with no communication from him or his company. I finally reached out to Leonard and was told he ran into difficulties on another job, and I thought that was reasonable, but not calling to let me know that he was not going to show up was unreasonable. He stated through email after job was completed. “I never asked you to wait for us to be there to drain the pool” well I am not comfortable with strangers being in my yard and not being home he then said “I told you that we just needed access to the back yard” once more this was not said he also stated “I did call you to let you know about the issues we were having and that we were running behind schedule” yet again the only phone call I ever received from Leonard was on call on 6/21/18. I reached out to him at all times. He finally shows up at the end of the day on Tuesday to drain the pool which took 30 minutes after being told he would be at my home between 2 and 3 another day lost for me. So, three days after scheduled work should have been completed he finally came to clean the pool which seemed as he hurried the job so much so he just left leaves and some debris on bottom of pool. Also with that being said he came with a teenager who just let himself into my yard without calling or ringing my doorbell not a good idea when most homeowners own guns essentially when they show up 2 hours after scheduled appointment. He said he would call me the following day to check on the progress of the pool and spa filling up, but I waited for his call and no call so once again I had to reach out to him. On Friday the 29th, Antonio a worker for Fix a Pool came with the capacitor, and it was the wrong one, and that was not a big problem because Antonio returned soon after with the new one and did a good job. I inquired about cleaning the filter balancing the pool, and setting up the timer however he said Leonard just told him to replace capacitor. So I had to reach out to Leonard once again job still not complete because of miscommunication between Antonio and Leonard he had to come back the following day to clean filter cartridge another day added onto a job that Leonard said should have taken two days to complete is now up to six days, and another day wasted for me, besides that pool never balanced or timer adjusted. Leonard seemed honest and knowledgeable at our first meeting but his service performance failed to meet our expeditions. We did not feel that this job had any importance to him or he is overwhelmed plus under staffed. However he was not as honest or professional as I first thought seeing as he would have arranged a different date and time for work to be done and give me the opportunity to wait for his service or be honest and tell me work could not be completed in a timely manner and give me the opportunity to hire another pool company and this could have been prevented. What's more we had to cancel a pool party that was planned for my grandchildren and friends on Friday. I would have canceled sooner but I was told by Leonard all work would be completed on Wednesday as promised. Apart from most of us understand it’s all about the mighty dollar today. We are hard working people, and all we want is to get what we pay for. Unfortunately whatever time Leonard said that he would call he did not whatever time he said he be at my home he was not. For most business owners, just meeting their Customer's expectations would provide a good experience and how likely it is that you recommend this company to family or friend. Consumer satisfaction means the degree to which a company’s customers are happy with their purchase or experience with the company and Leonard did not take care of us like that at all. Communication is Two Way and if I did not keep reaching out to him there would have been no communication at all I question would he have shown up at all? All we want is to get what we paid for and we most certainly did not get what we paid for. We asked Leonard if we could renegotiate the price, under no circumstances were we trying not to pay the bill but we thought for all above reasons he could have taken some money off. Additionally this is his response “No; I will not reduce the amount as it seems you are intentionally trying to pay less for a service you agreed to pay for “You are required to pay the full amount on the invoice. If you choose not to pay then I will forward this to collections, small claims court and place a lien on your house. All of which will cost a lot more than your current invoice. He deemed it necessary to make accusations and threats against us. I understand there are two sides to every story but I would truly contemplate my side before hiring Fix a Pool because for hard working people the price tag for poor work poor customer service along with dissatisfaction is just too pricey. Because there are much more adequate pool companies then Fix a Pool. So buyer BEWARE because we don't believe this company cares for the smaller jobs.
