First Quality roofing and insulation came out to my house for an estimate. Looked at my roof and said he would get back to me in about a week or so with an estimate, but never got back to me. I emailed them last week to see if they just forgot about my estimate and still have not received a reply. He thanked me for being a US Marine and that was it, what kind of sarcasm is that.

Angel is the perfect ambassador for this company. He is polite, professional and very likable. He came to give me an estimate for insulating my attic and doing either a new roof or an overlay. While doing so, he explained the downside to doing an overlay, which is just putting new shingles over the old ones on the roof. He asked some questions and went up to the roof. When he came down, he explained what was needed, showed me pictures, and answered all of my questions. The estimate was for $8500. During this time I was also getting other estimates, one of which was from Ariat Roofing. Jay was also a pleasure to deal with and he gave me a fabulous estimate under $8000. I called Angel and told him because before he left he had asked that I let him know, so that perhaps he could get the job if it was a matter of money. By this time I was pretty sure that I would be going with Ariat so I needed an insulation estimate. I called Red Rock insulation and spoke to Doug. We made an appointment for 2 days later. This guy never showed and didn't bother to call. In the meantime, Angel called me back and told me that he had managed to get the estimate lowered to $8000. When I did the math for roofing and insulation, it came down to being a judgement call because the numbers between First Quality and Ariat were pretty close when I included the insulation. I had to take into consideration the fact that Angel gave me two insulating estimates, one if FQ did the roofing job and a higher one if I went with another company for the roof. Also, Doug from Red Rock insulation didn't show and Angel had worked hard to get my business, so I went with First Quality. Angel told me that I would hear from the roofing scheduler and when I asked about the insulation he told me that it was customary to do both at the same time. I asked that it be done as soon as possible because it was so cold and we needed it badly. He said that he would do all he could. The contract was signed 12/9 and my insulation was done 12/30. The roof was done Jan. 15th. I must say that the roofing "foreman" named Vidal was not as professional as Angel. He called me to set the date and that was OK, but when I called one time to ask a question, he answered the phone rudely and didn't mention the company name or his name, so I thought I had the wrong number but when I called Angel to ask the question, he told me that I had the right number. He apologized for him and we moved on. I have approximately 2500 sq.ft. including the garage and the workers showed up on the appointed day at about 7:30 am. They were done by 6:30pm, clean-up and all. During this whole time I never met Vidal in person. He never showed up to introduce himself or otherwise. I still don't know what he looks like! There was another fellow that I dealt with whenever I needed something. I suppose he was the leadman. When all was done I asked him what was to happen with regard to payment. He said"I have your receipt.". I told him that since it was dark, I would rather wait until after I checked the work and clean-up before I paid. He said that it wasn't a problem and that I could call the office. The next day I walked around the house and was pleasantly surprised that the whole roof was complete and I only found one nail in the grass. I called Angel the following week, as this was done on a Friday and asked about a couple of spots on the roof that seemed "lifted", and to offer him the payment. He came by my house and explained the lifted look and how these spots would settle with the summer heat. He also climbed up onto the roof and walked around the house and found some things that he felt needed to be addressed by the crew that had done the work. He took the check and thanked me. Two days later, even though I wasn't home, he crew showed up, as Vidal had called and told me they would. I could tell that they had been there because I was no longer seeing the lifted spots. Overall, I was very happy with the work that was done. I just think that the experience might have worked out differently if I hadn't dealt with Angel through the whole thing.

Outstanding. They came out quickly, provided an estimate, and quickly and professionally completed the work. They also saved us quite a lot of money but showing us that a repair that we thought we needed didn't need to be done. Great to see that level of honesty and integrity.

I had been noticing leaking in my attic where the furnace pipe was whenever it rained. Jeff came over and inspected the roof. He determined that the furnace flue pipe was not sealed and there was inadequate felt protection at the base of the pipe, causing the leak. Jeff also suggested filling the attic area over my garage with R-38 insulation as there is none over this particular area. He stated it would take about five years before the resulting savings in utility bills would offset the $500 it would cost to insulate. I figured I have dealt without insulation over the garage for 16 years so I passed on the this option. My primary concern was with the leak. The technician came right on time on Thursday and went to work. He allowed my to come up to the roof and watch him do the repair. I could tell that the builder cut corners in 2000 because the pipe area was never sealed properly at the time. The tech did a comprehensive job that ensured brand new felt coverage and sealing of the pipe. The actual work took less than an hour. I was confident that nothing would leak from this area again. In fact, it rained heavily last night (1/31). I checked the attic and there was no dripping or leaking whatsoever in that area during the rain. The pricing was on the higher end for a small job like this that took 45 minutes. They have a $500 minimum no matter what the job is. But I felt confident in Jeff's assessment during the evaluation and impressed by the good workmanship of the repair. The only thing was that the tech repainted the metal pipe with a spray-on color that was much darker than the original color that is part of my home's color scheme. So it kind of looks out of place compared to the other metal pop-outs.This is not a big deal as it is not something that most people will look at or notice (except possibly the HOA). I have the paint to repaint it myself. But I don't have a ladder high enough to get back up there safely so I will have to wait until I have that opportunity.
Description of Work: Refelt repair around the 4" furnace pipe to prevent leaking into attic during times of rain. -Installed one layer of #30 felt with plastic cap nails and new wood battens. -Weather blocking installed on the ridges in the repair area. -Pipe resealed -Existing cracked tile sealed with caulking

I noticed some areas of discoloration on the ceiling of the bedroom. It was obvious we had a small leak. I called several companies and most either did not show up or failed to submit a bid after looking at the roof. First quality showed up when they said they would, located the broken tile and submitted a bid on the spot. It was reasonable and in line with other bids. They scheduled our roof repair for the following week, showed up on time and completed the job and cleaned up their mess. The job entailed removing several tiles from the eaves up to the broken tile, replacing the felt underneath and putting tiles back in place. The job took about 2 hours. They gave me a receipt and said to call if I notice anything or had any further problems. I gave them an A on quality but I guess we won't really know until it rains. Overall, I'm very pleased and would use them again.

Work was great and completed in a timely manor. Company was somewhat difficult to schedule the work with, they told me to sign and send back the estimate then they would call me to schedule the work. After a few days of waiting I finally called them. They also charged me extra after the fact to use a credit card to pay which I did not appreciate.

Discovered we had a leak in the roof so called First Quality Roofing. First Quality Roofing was able to get me scheduled within 4-5 days of calling. I was very impressed when Tony arrived early. Upon showing him where the leak was he was able to pinpoint where on the roof he needed to check. Tony was very thorough and explained what needed to be replaced/repaired. The estimate for the repair was reasonable. So I called First Quality Roofing to say I wanted to have them do the work and they were able to get me scheduled within 5 days time. On the day of the repair Alberto arrived early and got right to work. He worked quickly and efficiently and answered the few questions that my husband had. Alberto performed all the necessary work and cleaned up and took all the debris away. I highly recommend First Quality Rooking and and would definitely use them again.

We received two quotes, of which I approved the one that, what I assumed to be, was for the complete repair. After multiple calls to even get them to come out , when they arrived, they said the quote was wrong and it would be more than double the cost of what was quoted and said that they did not quote us for a full repair. They wont back up their own quote and they are also saying we did not request a full repair. (Which makes no sense - why would I not want to fix the original problem) This feels like a complete bait and switch with no accountability on their part.
Description of Work: First Quality sent a representative to my office to get a quote on a roof repair. After extensive discussion I asked for two quotes, one to do a quick fix and one to do a full repair on the section of the roof.

The crew was scheduled to begin work about 10-days after we signed the contract. To our delight, they called 2-days after signing the contract to ask if they could start the next day (someone had cancelled so they had a crew available). They showed up with a fairly large crew -- about 6-8 people. They finished the job in 2-days. The crew worked long hours working until 7 PM. This was fine with me and our HOA. We had the work done because we were getting leaks in our house when it rained. It rained about one week after they finished with the reroofing and we had NO leaks. We have had no leaks to date. I was very impressed with the crew, their professionalism, and work ethic.

I don't know what was wrong with this company! The crew showed up on time, answered all my questions and did an excellent job. They cleaned up everything and even trimmed my tree. It went very well. Angel came out initially to give us a quote and (unlike another company's salesman) he climbed right up on the roof and walked all over measuring and inspecting everything. We received a quote right away and decided to go with them. They removed the tile from the original roof, most of which was still usable so they stacked it up and put it back down after the new underlayment was in place. Vidal (the foreman on our job) was very helpful and responsive when we had problems or questions. The work was completed in a very reasonable period of time and they cleaned everything up. We have waited six months to post a review because it took that long to have a couple of really heavy rainfalls to see whether anything leaked. It did leak after the first rain but it turned out to be from a crack in the stucco wall next to the garage and now that is fixed. After living with multiple leaks in the house, patio and garage for so long it's great to have a dry house!

The company sent Alberto to do the work and he arrived on time and worked tirelessly from 0730 to 1730 in order to complete the project. He was courteous, polite and professional. I watched him part of the time and it was obvious that he knew exactly what he was doing. The cleanup afterward was very competently done. As he left, he said twice that if we had any problem with the repair to call the company and they would send someone out immediately to remedy the situation. The entire project from contacting them to come to our home in order to determine the problem, providing estimates for repair of several options that I asked for, the scheduling of the repair to the actual repair work could not have been more professionally done.

Angel Bautista came out and gave us a free quote, he went right up into the attic and did a thorough assessment before giving us a quote. After our meeting we did some comparison shopping and we kept coming back to how professional and knowledgable Angel was and that plus the great ratings here on Angie's List was the deciding factor for my husband and I. Other folks just did not compare in customer service. The day of the service (today), Angel and a team member arrived promptly and set about protecting the entry and path to the attic access to include covering up the gap between the door and floor in the hallway to all the rooms. Very considerate and clean. The whole process took less then 2 hours to which included attic vent fabric, extra baffles placed in key areas, rulers placed throughout so that we can watch for any settling and a barrier set up to prevent insulation from falling out the access point when we go up into the attic. Especially needed was the added insulation over the garage because 14 years ago the builder for our home did not insulate at all over the garage? Needless to say this service today will make a huge impact on the temps in the garage now. I feel confident that First Quality stands behind all of their work. They are well established here in Las Vegas and I will recommend them to all my neighbors and friends for any roofing and insulation work. High regards, Cristine and James Fraas

I actually used Angie's List to help my mother find a good roofer. She has needed roof replacement for some time, and I didn't want her to get taken by a less than ethical company. I referred her to First Quality Roofing off of the list, and she couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. She stated that the roofers were on time, quick and did a great job cleaning up the site. They did go over estimate only slightly but only because they had to replace some plywood which was an unforseen problem and not their fault. They were highly professional with her and treated her respectfully, something she values very highly. I do intend to use First Quality when our roof needs replacing within the next year or so.

I had a problem with our patio roof that was a basic design flaw that probably existed from when the house was first built and they decided for whatever reason to leave a approx 12' x 12' portion at the corner of the patio uncovered without any roof. It must have been an afterthought because there was no consideration for water runoff and no overhang, so the water in that area would stream down the roof and just roll off and straight down the wall seeping into the window underneath (and eventually the french doors that we replaced it with.} Not good. The sun and weather already had taken its toll on the one wall and other set of french doors in the corner. Not to mention that facing west that area got full afternoon sun heating up the rooms in that corner. 12 years ago, we had the roof re-done from wood shingles to light weight tile by a well known and reputable roofing company. The company did not fix this issue or even bring it to my attention. Instead they added a lip of flashing apparently thinking the water would redirect off to the side... it didn't work and with the quicker run off of the tile, this issue actually got worse persisted for all these years... always out of mind... until the rains came. This year we decided to get it fixed once and for all before the rains hit. I contacted 3 of the top rated companies for my area through Angies list. One provider was out first thing the next day. A nice guy, he looked over the situation and seemed baffled as what would needed to be done. He said he would talk it over with his somebody else at the company to see what they thought. I never heard from them ever again. I also heard back from another provider and they were able to get out the following day. The owner looked it over and quickly evaluated the situation and said because of the way the patio was attached, the only really good and smart option would be to just cover that entire 12' x 12' area so that it matched the rest of the patio roof and the water would just go into the gutters that rant the full lenght already. He said that could get expensive maybe $3500 or so. I told him I thought he was right in his assessment but that I had figured any fix would be $1,000 to $2,000 range, and said I would like accurate quote. Quality Roofing was the last of the 3 to come out for a look. On Tuesday Angel from Quality Roofing contacted me and came out to look at the situation. I told him about the idea of just adding roof to that area as had been suggested by one of the other providers and that I was thinking it sounded like the way to go, but I would like to leave a 4' x 4' open area in it with a lip of flashing around it, so some light could still come in but the majority of water coming from the roof would be direct to the edge of the roof and the existing gutters. Angel immediately started evaluating the area, lifting up tiles and checking the sub structure, taking measurements and photos, and made a call or two. Within about 20 minutes he put together a written estimate. I was impressed. He was very knowledgeable, and his estimate was more inline with what I expected... less than half the "rough estimate" I got from the other provider. This estimate was much more in line with what I had expected. I decided to also ask about adding some roof vents while the crew was here and he made me what seemed like a good price of an additional $900 to do that as well. Considering the good reviews they had, I decided to book with them. I got an appointment one week later. Today the crew (4 or 5 total) arrived at 7:30am. They all were very professional, I think everyone I talked with spoke and understood English which made things go very smoothly. They got the whole project done in about 6 hours total and did a great cleanup as well. The work looks good... next big rain will be the true test. I don't expect any problems. I do expect a little bit lower summertime energy costs as the added roofing now shields two external walls and the 6 roof vents should allow a lot of not attic air to escape keeping the whole house cooler. I would definitely recommend this company and crew.
