Not well, Customer service is horrible, they do not have a link to make payments or options to make payment easier, they wanted all money upfront before the work was done. They are really horrible people, they do not know how to assist, left does not know what the other person is doing.

We didn't have any problem with the actual carpet installation. However, there was a problem with moving the furniture. We have several pieces of large/heavy furniture. We discussed this with the person who gave us the initial estimate who assured us that they would send the correct people to deal with it. Unfortunately that didn't occur and it turned what could have been a one day job into a three day job. It finally all got done but it could have been handled a lot better.

My entire experience was mixed between great and not so great. To start, the employee who gave me the quote was very attentive to my needs and understood the time crunch I was under. The cost for the project was much higher than I was expecting based on previous carpet projects but he worked to get the price within my budget, with a slight sacrifice to the quality carpet I wanted. Lastly, he was supposed to send me the quote for tile flooring I wanted installed in the future, which was never received. The installers got here about 2 hours past when I was told they'd be here. They explained the install process thoroughly and did a decent quality job. There are some loose strands that I keep finding and I can feel the strips on the steps. When doing my final walk through I had to point out multiple issues, to include one closet door that was off track and another in which the track mechanism was broken. They told me that their boss would contact me to do the final walk through and will come by to fix the door. The boss never called me, I have not been contacted by the company at all (even after emailing them with my issue). I'm happy with my new carpet, but these problems make it certain I will not use this company again.

I'm sure about the quality of the flooring material because it seems to get bruised so easily when you drop anything on it. I've been asking them for the last 3 weeks to send me something in writing for the maintenance and care for the floor. I even called and asked to speak with the supervisor but I haven't got anything yet. The price was fair. They have very poor customer service.

Description of Work: Needed new carpet in my house, previous owner had dogs that peed on carpet. Empire Today came out very fast to check out my house, get me an estimate, had plenty of carpet samples with them, and helped me with a finance option, and the next business day they were out here with a crew to rip up my old, and install the new carpet, very fast, considering I had company coming the next day.

Horrible! Installed the Wrong Tile! It started off when the salesman from empire came and showed us three and a half hours of ideas. At that time I told him what I didn't want. What I wanted was something nice, smooth, creme colored tile, with just a tiny bit of cinnamon. When the Empire installation team came out a couple weeks later. It took an entire day to tear out the flooring, which I was fine with. The day afterwards, they started laying down tile. After the first few were down, I realized that this was not that tile that I had picked out. They had started installing this wrong tile. When I started complaining about the new tile, that I didn't want. They kept installing. I talked to a manager and he told me to wait until they were done to see what it looked like. He also told me that this is what you ordered, but it was not! I did not order Barnwood and that was what they installed, I told the manager that I wanted, again, a creme colored tile with a dash of cinnamon and that I had told the salesman the same thing when we first discusses the tile. Worst service she could have used! Horrible! Absolutely horrible! Left back hallway bare. Made numerous calls to empire, and they will not respond to calls. Promised if I did not like it, they would rip it up and put my tile down. When the job was done in their opinion, they still had six boxes of grout, sixteen boxes of tile, and all there other building materials. I then realized that I had paid for all these supplies. Later they came, and started hauling all of these supplies out to their truck with no mention of how much it costed. I complained about this and after a long fight they sent me a $400 check for the building materials. They left one box of tiles just in case anything was damaged. Overall, a very bad experience. They would not return my phone calls, and come back out to fix their mistake. I took it upon myself to spend a whole day cleaning up their mess, and fixing grout issues myself, trying to finish the job. There were little spots that looked like someone spilled something and did not clean it up, I tried to clean them off, but it would not come out. The back hall is very sloppily done, and looks bad. It looks absolutely horrible! If I could give a "Z" review, I would!
Description of Work: Empire came out and showed ideas of tile, and we went over idea of what I did not want. They ripped up carpeting, and tile in kitchen floor, and installed ceramic floor throughout.

Made an appointment for an in-home estimate. Had contacted Empire Today because of the two specials they were offering on their website - $99 a room or pay for 2 rooms and get the product for the rest of the house free. Neither of these specials were offered and when we asked about them, our question was ignored. The sales rep spent a long time measuring the house while we looked at the few samples he brought inside. When we didn't see anything we liked, he would go to his car and bring in a few more samples. After he had measured the house, he asked us if we ha found anything we liked. We showed him the laminate and carpet we selected and he began calculating a price. He didn't seem particularly knowledgeable about flooring and didn't offer any information about the product or the company other than to emphasize their "great" warranty when we asked questions. We were interesting in having approximately 950 sq ft of laminate and 450 sq ft of carpeting installed. We had already started looking around at different products so had some idea of where the pricing should be. His original quote was over $14,000 for everything which was ridiculous. When I asked what the square footage price was I was told they didn't price like that, their price included installation and all materials. I then asked if he just pulled a figure out of the air and was told that it didn't really matter because they would get us to a price we were comfortable with and asked us what price we were looking at paying. We countered with a considerably lower number. He said he wasn't authorized to ok the finally price and would have to call his boss which he did. Our offer was too low so they countered with a little over $6800 - over 50% off of their original quote which immediately raised some red flags, We thought that price was still too high so the boss told our sales rep to have us look at a different brand of flooring and if we saw something we liked the price would be just under $6400. We found something we liked but my husband told him we would need to think about it before make a final decision. The boss was still on the phone and said if we would sign right now we could get everything for $6000. We still wanted to think about it and asked for a day to decide. They said fine but we would lose the $6000 price. We did some additional research and decided that the $6000 price was fair so about an hour after the sales rep left, we contacted him and told him if they would honor that offer we would proceed. The sales rep came back that evening and we finalized all the paperwork for the product as well as financing. This was on a Tuesday and installation was set to begin on Thursday so we spent all day Wednesday boxing up household items to make moving the furniture easier on the installers. We received 2 emails Wed morning confirming our installation appointments for both the laminate and the carpet. That evening we got a call advising that there had been an error in calculating the amount of laminate needed for our job and in order to have enough to do the job it would cost us an additional $2000. They would not honor their pricing for the other laminate we liked and as there was no other comparable products we liked we agreed to cancel the order. I told them I felt like a victim of a classic bait and switch. To say we were angry and upset would be an understatement considering all the prep work we had already done. However, after reading countless similar complaints on various sites as well as complaints regarding the quality of their installations, I think we're lucky this deal fell apart.
Description of Work: The day after agreeing on a price and signing the contract, sales rep called and said he made a mistake in the pricing and the cost would be an additional $2000.

The service went very well. They were two men who came out to my home and were done with the laminate flooring in one day. They had to come back and do the tile a different day. Very excellent work tho. They also cleaned up very well, which was a plus for me and my wife. I would tell my friends and family members that its quality work for a good price.
Description of Work: I had laminate flooring installed after they ripped up the carpet in the living room, and tile in the bathroom.

The installers arrived early in the morning to install all our flooring in one day. I'll address the linoleum and carpeting installation separately. The carpet installers removed the old carpeting and padding, and they cleaned the bare concrete with brooms prior to installing the new padding. Unfortunately, they did not properly install the padding. For example, they cut strips of padding and laid them down the length of the hallway. They were not taped together, and in some places, there were gaps of an inch or more between the pieces of padding. I believe I should have had a single contiguous piece of padding, not scraps. The gaps were very obvious when walking down the hallway. Many of the seams were very obvious, and some of the tack strips had hammer marks in them. The installers also caused some minor damage to furniture, doors, and floor boards as they moved everything to install the carpeting. The linoleum installation was a disaster. There were several large bubbles, adhesive on the top of the flooring, and the installers failed to properly align the two large pieces of linoleum, creating a noticeable seam. They laid the linoleum up to the face of the dishwasher and cut it there. (When I ultimately replace the dishwasher, it's unlikely that it will fit precisely the same way.) The caulking around the perimeter of the kitchen was terrible. It was non-existent in some places, and when viewed from a distance, it varied in width from very thin to very thick. They applied caulking up to a half inch up the side of my cabinetry, and they applied caulking to the front of my dishwasher. When I pointed out the gap in the seam, their solution was to apply caulking in the seam. This initial installation was in August. I contacted Empire, and they sent out a supervisor to inspect the installation and address my issues. To their credit, they agreed to replace all the linoleum in the kitchen and repair the padding gaps. However, they did not have the same materials in stock, so I had to wait. Empire sent another team of installers out to rectify the problems. They quickly repaired the padding issue by replacing the strips of padding used by the first installers with a single piece of padding. The new padding appears to be slightly thicker than the padding used by the first installers. They then removed the linoleum and scraped away the caulking around the baseboards. They installed new linoleum. This team also struggled with making a seam, although it is better than the first attempt. They put down an even bead of caulking around the baseboards. And, they put some linoleum an inch or two under the front of the dishwasher so that it could be replaced. Unfortunately, when scraping away the old caulking, they caused new damage to the baseboards, exposing raw wood by scraping away the paint. They also tore the linoleum they just installed in the process of pushing the refrigerator back into place. So I have a nice 3 inch tear in my brand new linoleum! While a minor issue, from a cosmetic perspective, they laid down the linoleum without considering the pattern. The pattern mimics tile, and the way they installed it is not consistent with the way a person laying tile would do it. It looks...awkward. This second installation was completed in October, two months after the initial installation. Both teams were contracted by Empire to do the installation work; they were not Empire employees. The problem, as I see it, is that Empire does not have adequate quality control over their contractors. You'll likely be pleased with the product and the customer service, but the installation is entirely hit-or-miss. And while I applaud them for standing behind their service, in the end, I still have a sub-par installation with a large tear created by the installers. No one ever contacted me to ask if I was satisfied, even after the second installation.
Description of Work: I contacted Empire through their website and set up an appointment with one of their sales representatives. Empire sent a salesperson to our home. We were happy with the selection and happy with the cost, so we ordered linoleum for our kitchen and carpeting for the remainder of the house. We also ordered upgraded padding, and set up a date and time for the installation.

After seeing a zillion of their Tv commercials, I went to their website and scheduled an appointment. Website said I would receive a call day before the appointment. Call never came so i got curious and Googled Empire Today to see what appears. I found many COMPLAINTS including very current ones posted on numerous websites. I did not find ANY reviews on Angies List. I then sent an email to cancel my appointment. One day later, a salesperson shows up at my front door. I ignored the doorbell and knocking but she persisted so i finally opened my door. I politely told her the appointment has canceled and why. started to dial her phone. She then said and quot; You will have to talk to my officeand quot; and started to dial her phone. Since when does a salesperson (who I didn't ask for) tell me who I must speak to and when? I smiled, told her I had to get back to my business and closed the door. Then my phone started ringing, an Unknown caller from 800-588-2300. I did not answer the call. They called back 3 more times, so i then blocked their number. They left me a voicemail saying I should call them to reschedule my appointment! Bottom Line: If you want to deal with what appears to be a BIG company with lots of complaints, zero reviews on Angies List and deal with the likes of the aforementioned, GO FOR IT! Almost forgot to mention something else the saleswoman at my front door said: She said that ALL the negative online reviews are posted by their competitors. If you believe that, contact me so I can sell you the Eiffel Tower.
