My experience with them has been pretty good. The project took a little long than as promised but it is looking pretty good. They were responsive but it was just that they were little slow. I think that they had too many projects.

Hate to say it, but "BUYER BEWARE" and why? As of the time i write this review 12/5/12 im still with out a patio step that supposed to lead up to my sliding glass door, (2ft drop down). You will sign an agreement that states SOME damage might occur to landscaping to access the backyard with equipment on your property. But they damaged my neighbors property and are supposed to repair it, which they still have not. The overall design looks beautiful and we love it, but its the LITTLE details they fail to take care of. In the rush to get the finial plaster done they are supposed to clean up the components such as the pools lighting. They left concrete and mortar residue on the glass. Which is now 2 1/2 feet below the surface of the water. They didnt clean off any of the digital screens on the heater or the pump covered in mortar dust nor did they wipe or wash anything down in the backyard (house walls). This is in the contract that they will clean up the mess they make. This earned them a lower mark on the quality scale. You will LOOSE privacy for the duration of the work. You must leave the access open and unlocked. They will show up at all times of the day unannounced which will drive owners with pets crazy. We went for days wondering whats next with out a curtesy phone call or contact. That earns them a horrible score on the responsiveness scale. They will merely say we have it scheduled and that earns a low mark on the professionalism scale. They have yet to install the saltwater system that supposed to be done 30 days from the time the pool is filled. The crews are very polite and i often left a cooler of bottle water for them in appreciation for their work. When they arrived they worked hard and fast. Which is why they got a lower scored on the punctuality due to the fact they are capable to do the work in a timely manner just choose not to come out in a reasonable time frame to make the 60 day promise date. I had several contractors provide bids for this project one which was highly recommend to me by a friend which has a beautiful pool. I choose Desert Springs over them because of the design layout at the time. I will be seeking a refund or restsitution from this company unless they make good on their part. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the Nevada State Contractors Board on this company due to this project being incomplete and as yet to pass final inspect with the city. I'll be sure to keep you up to date on this companies resolution with me. On 12/10/12 i filed a complaint with the State Contractors board. The next day the pool company came out to fix my back step and fix the gravel landscape. On 1/7/13 i met with the State Inspector and Mr Whiple Owner of Desert Springs Pools. Since all area was fixed and complete per contract nothing was to be done. Mr Whiple offered no restitution, he merely said "Sorry this happens, goodbye." Being a former Marine it took every ounce of restraint in my body from punching this guy in the face. Get it in writing and have a payment penalty if they can't make good on time lines is my best advice.
Description of Work: This was a full back yard renovation. This was a contract to design and install a Saltwater Lagoon style pool, spa, patio, and landscaping. The salesman John Tully came out to my home in early june of 2012. Using the ideas i had designed a full backyard from which we agreed to have created. The total process was scheduled to take 60 days. We signed the contract on 6/15/12, but was pending home owners association approval. A project foreman and in paint outlined the property and marked out where all the digging and excavation was to occur at the beginning of july. We received HOA approval on 7/16/12 and work began on 7/25/12. They had to small machines brought to the property, a small crane digger and a small bull dozer. They had to knock down the back gate to allow for the equipment to access the property. This took 3 days to finish. The following week 7/27/12 a plumbing crew came out to lay out all the water works, pipelines and gas line. They had brought back the small crane to dig out the trench in order to laid the gas line from the front of the property to the back. This required them to knock down a small area of the back wall and made a mess onto the neighbors property (Caution). This process took 2 days to complete. The next week 7/31/12 a crew came out to lay out the reenforcement bars and frame work. This process took 1 day for the pool and spa and Up until this point work flow was predictable progress was good. The same crew returned 8/13/12 to do the reenforcement bars for the spa. Be fore warned this contractor will not contact you to inform you on schedule of work. You must leave your area unsecured and open for them to access the entire time! A rough electrical crew came out to prep the electric lines and positioning of the lights and outlets. The concrete was laid the next day on 8/14/12. This process took one day and at this point you are responsible to soak the concrete 3-4 times a day for 3-4 days to prevent the concrete from curing too quickly. The contractor came out to the job site with a dozen employees and a concrete truck with lines running to the back spraying the area with concrete. This covered all the reenforcement bars. The final designing of the waterfall began on 8/27/12. An employee (Roberto) that specialized in creating the rock effect comes out to shape and paint the rock work. This process to 3 days. The use fine plaster over the rough concrete to create the effect. He also spray paints several coatings and colors to get the desired look. Roberto will show you many photos of several completed projects to understand what look you want. The next phase was 9/4/12 this is when the decorative stone work that edges the face of the spa and the tile work is done. This took 2 days to do. The final edges of the the stone work can not be done until the stamped concrete work is laid on top of the rough concrete. which is schedule later in the project. The access walls are replaces and rebuild on 9/6/12. The electrical crew returns at this point to complete the wiring of the equipment, LED lighting, and the installs the main controls. This was an issue since the equipment was not delivered and the crew had to come back to complete installation a week later on 9/11/12. The finished concrete phase begins on 9/17/12. This is the smooth stamped concrete edging that goes around the pool to include the raised deck seating area. This takes 1 day to do, but they explain they will not come back to the wash off the colored gout spread over the concrete until the concrete is cured 4 days later. They return 2 weeks later around 10/2/12 after a call to the office. This is when they finish the decorative stone work that lines the spa started on 9/4/12 the month previous. That this point the project seems to come to what seems to be a crawl in progress. They return to do the paver patio that edges the stamp concrete on 10/25/12. The remaining paver patio takes 2 days to complete, but they failed to install a STEP the leads into the sliding glass door. (note: its a 2 foot fall from the door to the patio). On 10/29/12 landscapers come out to install the drip irrigation system, plant the trees and shrubs, and lay down the decorative gravel. This takes 1 day to do. At this point it looks like a backyard. On 11/1/12 the plaster crew comes out to give the pool its smooth coating and fill it with water. This take only a few hours to do and the depth of the pool will determine the time to fill up. You will be given a long list of things to do and not to do. One being you can not heat the pool for 10 days after the initial fill. But they fail to tell you that you will need to call the gas company to come out and connect the gas line to the heater. Which will take up to 2 weeks for the Nevada gas to come out on site. On 11/3/12 a technician will come out to give you the brushes and install the pools jets and nozzles. You must scrub several times a day for 2 weeks the pool to remove excess plaster from all surfaces of the pool into the drains. You would assume the pool is done at this point. But it is not heated or swimmable for 2 weeks. You must still balance the water and this is done on the 11/9/12 by the contractors during what they call "pool school." i have a ton of pictures of the whole project in chronological order i just dont know how to add them sorry.

We were told the entire process would take from between eight to a max of twelve weeks. The job was finished in about five months. I have never dealt with a company that had such a lack of communication skills with a client. They constantly apologized for the time it was taking to complete our pool and it appeared that everyone elses issues were more important than ours. At one point during construction I had to call and tell them that a mistake was being made and that the contractor was requesting more money. I was asked to advance the money and that Desert Springs would reimburse us. We waited weeks for the reimbursement and even requested that I deduct it from the final installment but was told no. I finally called and demanded the check. When I arrived the check was not ready. When it was given to me they had coded the check as a and quot;Referral Feeand quot;. The problems we had would take too long to descibe here. I would recommend that anyone researching this firm also look up the reviews under and quot;City Searchand quot;. When the job was finally done we invited the owner over to discuss our pros and cons. As a former business owner I always appreciated a client who was willing to take the time to meet with me to discuss how he or she was treated. The first time the owner said he was out of town and would not be back until early September. We sent another email in September and never received any reply. We have kept a complete log and a full set of all the emails regarding our problems just in case they decided to dispute our issues. We even have an email from them in which they tell us we are such nice customers. I have waited four months from the completion of this job to calm down before I wrote this review. The owner still has an open invitation to meet with us if he desires. As it stands we would never recommend them to anyone.

Everything went smoothly. The excavation was a two or three day process which began with removal of our iron gate and cinder block wall (which was factored into the final price as well as replacing the gate and cinder block wall when construction was completed). Desert Springs was very willing to work with us when we changed our mind about the deck type and we did end up with a spray deck which they also applied to our existing patio giving it a uniform look. We've very happy with the design and we love the pool.
Description of Work: Desert Springs did both the design and construction of our swimming pool. 1. Excavation 2. Rebar 3. Equipment, Plumbing & Electrical 4. Plaster 5. Tile 6. Deck finishing 7. Final Permit Approval ...there are a few reviews the City does to insure everything is compliant. They use very few sub-contractors with 85% of the work performed by Desert Springs and its subsidiaries making it a safe bet in terms of quality of work and responsiveness to service problems which might arrise after the job has been completed. It has been 1 year since our pool was completed and we are very satisfied. We've called Desert Springs since our pool was installed just for their advise and opinion of other aspects of pool maintenance and equipment and they were extremely helpful. We would recommend Desert Springs Pool and Spa to our firends!

As with any major construction project, it was a long process. We initiated the project April 22, 2011, and the final inspection was August 18. 2011. On September 20, 2011, the last minor repairs were corrected. One of the main reasons we selected Desert Springs was their policy of having all subcontractors sign lien releases. This protects the homeowner from separate liens when the pool company has been paid for the work. We also knew several other people who had pools installed by Desert Springs and were able to recommend their work. The first obstacle was waiting for the HOA approval. We had to have two. One gave us the approval within three days; the other took more than three weeks. We also made changes to the actual layout of the pool, changing the location slightly to accommodate possible future additions to the house and existing landscaping. Unfortunately, we were only able to keep one of our trees, but we were able to keep some of our larger bushes and most of our rose bushes. The excavation went fairly smooth. We would have appreciated some sort of temporary gate (Netting? Plywood?) so that when workers left for the day, our dog could be released to the back yard. We had the landscape division of the company rework some of the watering system so the plants could continue to be watered. However that is something that someone could do easily for themselves, as we had to redo his work after the second day. (The landscaper misunderstood where the water line was.) The concrete work for the pool went well. Be aware that you will need to water the concrete two or three times a day so that the drying process is more thorough. We asked that the first step to the pool be adjusted after everything was poured and set, and we added a hand rail, not included initially. They were able to widen the step before the plaster work was done and we are very happy with the result. We had our existing patio extended to the pool and added a walkway to our casita. We also had the walkway around the pool extended from 18’ to 30”. Desert Springs let us work with the subcontractor, Conceptos Concrete, so we paid him directly for the additional work, saving $4-5 a square foot. When the patio work was completed, we realized the drainage was going directly to our door. They actually removed about 100 square feet of concrete and poured that section again. After three sessions of heavy rains, we can say the drainage works GREAT! There was no backup at all. Immediately after the plaster work is done, the pool must be filled with water and the pool needs to be brushed and brushed and brushed, at least twice a day to get all the dust and bits of debris. There is a lot of work for the homeowner to do when a pool is installed! The final part of the pool involved the new laws regarding pool safety. Without a fence EVERY door AND window opening to the pool area MUST have an alarm. Desert Springs provided the alarms, but we had to do the installations ourselves. The first inspection showed that we had missed 5 windows (one, we didn’t even realized opened), so we had to get additional alarms to be ready for the final inspection. We did the landscaping ourselves and added a wrought iron safety fence. We are very happy with the finished product and we are especially enjoying the spa. Kudos to owner Linn Whipple for ensuring we were happy with all the components of the pool and spa. Kudos to John Tulley, salesman, for responding to our questions and concerns throughout the process. And major kudos to Jenny, the office manager who made sure all the workers came and did what they were supposed to do. After all the work was done, we were happy to learn that Desert Springs had gone to the extra work of a separate gas line so that our house gas did not need to be turned off when the pool’s system was initiated. As part of the package, they also included a pool “instructor” to show us how to operate and care for the system. We have been taking care of the pool ourselves so far and we are impressed at how well the vacuum system works.
Description of Work: Desert Springs installed a free-form inground pool and spa at our property that included additional patio and walkways. Part of our pool has a designated shallow area about 18” like a big shelf. We like that for when toddlers are in the pool, they will have a larger play area. Also, the deepest part of our pool is only 5' deep, as we wanted to be able to stand at any part.

They came out last month also to do work for me. They are doing pretty good actually. They got out there and started with the work pretty quickly. We had to wait for the weather to be right and for some of the city inspectors to come out and update it. They went along pretty good. They are on schedule. I'm pretty satisfied with their work and the people that they got working there. They were late a couple of times. I will use their services again in the future.

I called several pool companies, and this company was the most responsive in giving an estimate and customer service. They invited us to their showroom to pick out tile, and plaster color. They told me that they do not collect any money until the project is complete and I am satisfied. The project started a week from the date I signed the contract, and was completed within 10 days. This old pool is 10 feet deep 37 x 17 feet in dimensions, with a diving board, and it is now beautifully restored!! The workers were respectful, timely and good craftsman. I am very pleased with this company!

It went great. The superintendent in charge of our whole process was really on top of things. He made sure everything went smoothly from one sub-contractor to the other. There weren't any big delays other than the weather, which was out of their control. I would probably use them again in the future if I ever needed to.

They quoted about $16000. I liked them. I would tell others to consider them. They seem to be thorough and knowledgeable. They have a nice showroom. They came out right away. They responded and gave me a bid pretty fast. The person who was going to give us the bid got food poisoning. So that took at least a couple of days. As soon as he got back, he gave me the bid. They offered to work with me, but I probably won't go with them because I liked someone else better. I wouldn't use them again at this house because I only have one swimming pool. I would consider them if I am going to get work done on a pool at a different house.

Overall, the remodeling process went very well. Our designer and the project superintendent did a great job of monitoring our project and following up on any issues that developed in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. My once ordinary pool now looks like the tropical oasis I envisioned. As renovation projects go, this one was pretty painless, and I have already recommended Desert Springs to friends soliciting bids for their pool project.

The knowledgeable people from Desert Springs Pools built me a very nice backyard pool. The construction took a few months, the pool is beautiful and the company offers a ten year warranty on the structure, as well as, a five year warranty on mechanical things. A few months ago, I had a problem with one of my pumps and they came right out to fix it. The service man fixed the pump in a short time and we were not charged as the pool isn't a year old yet. The company has provided us with excellent customer service during and after the construction of our pool.

I moved into the neighborhood not very long ago and hired Desert Springs to maintain my pool. The owner came to my home, and spent a few hours reviewing my pool with my daughter and I. He explained proper usage, cleaning and general warning signs and was very informative on things we were not aware of. Since then we have a man come every week on time to do the cleaning. He vacuums, cleans all debris areas and he is very thorough with his cleaning. The chemicals are regulated and if we need any type of repair work, they are knowledgeable in this as well. Desert Springs Pools & Spas provided me with very disappointing service as I had to track them down to get anything done. I felt that they did the minimum they could when they were here. If I didn't call them, they would never show up. That is not what I wanted, as I needed regular pool maintenance.
Description of Work: They took care of cleaning and maintaining our pool in the past. Our pool is 14x30 feet.

Desert Springs Pools & Spas did a great job on the construction of our custom built pool. They worked with us to ensure that we got the exact design that we wanted. They did have to remove a retaining wall to install our pool, but they did replace it upon completion. I have referred them to several others.
Description of Work: They built our medium to large sized in ground diving pool.

Desert Springs Pools & Spas was a remarkable company to work with. We were able to help design the layout of our pool and spa area. We felt that the crew was very hard working as they were knowledgeable and were done two weeks earlier than planned. We have had no problems with it and feel it is just beautiful.
Description of Work: They installed our new pool and spa with a waterfall in our back yard.
