+ -1 moreI have used Curts Home Repair in the past, and feel comfortable enough to use them again. He shows up on time, clean and polite. I find his rates very competitive. I am a property manager and have a lot of Handyman calls. I like to try Curts Home Repair first. Unfortunately, so does everyone else and sometimes his schedule is out for a few weeks. He is worth the wait if you are able to wait too.

+ -1 moreOn Sept.4th,2010, Curt showed up to give us an estimate on replacement of 3 skylights, Curt seemed very nice and professional and gave us a good estimate to replace 3 existing skylights in our house. Shortly after Curt left he called back and stated he underestimated some work and needed furthter info and that the estimate would be a little higher. I provided him with the website and he stated he would check it out and get back to me. After a couple days passed I did not hear back from him so I called and he stated he was busy and would call me back as soon as possible. A couple more days passed and nothing so I called and talked to his wife, I then emailed her the instructions for the job, several days later she calls me and stated they did not receive anything, upon checking her spam she found it and stated that Curt would call me that night or the next morning. FIVE DAYS later I receive and email stating that" Unforutnately the employee that would be performing the work for your specific job is no longer for us. Curt is not experienced in that area to feel comfortable doing the skylights on your house. We are happy to refer you to Las Vegas Handyman 248-0550" Thanks so much for wasting two weeks of my time and how unprofessional could you be and that referral, I called the Las Vegas Handyman, they don't even get on the roof for any job. I was actually going to give Curt a total remodel job for both our bathrooms as long this went well, thank god I dodged a bullet there!!! I would have probably ended up living in hotel had I contracted him for that!

+ -1 moreCurt called and let me know he was on his way. He got here and promptly started on the work. He was very efficient and completed all of the tasks to my satisfaction. He talked me through all of his activities and he informed me of what and why he was doing what needed to be done.
Description of Work: I had TV wall mounts installed and the TVs mounted. I had lights changed from my vaulted ceiling. I had an electrical outlet replaced and tested. I had a water softener unit connected. I had a smoke detector battery replaced on the vaulted ceiling. I had a ceiling heater intake vent filter replaced.

Starting with the appointment for the estimate, the proposal, the special requests I made and through work completion, everything went perfectly. Also, since Curt works so efficiently, his quote was more than reasonable and he explained every item and detail. I cannot say enough about this individual as well as his wife who handles scheduling and paperwork. I am delighted to have found him and will use him many times in the future. Besides all this, they are delightful people!

+ 2 moreHe showed up right on time. Worked hard and did a good job with the sub floor and the plumbing.... Halfway through the first day he informed me that I misread the price quote and it did not include materials. I was under the impression the price quote included everything but the tile. Then on the second day I was informed his previous materials estimate was too low. The original estimate of materials was $150... They ended up costing $380. In all. I was not happy with the unexpected $400 I had to pay. About his actual work. His partner was able to salvage my old shower door which saved me a bunch. But his tile work left much to be desired. Grout lines that were not perfect. Areas he told me were going to be covered by the shower door ended up being exposed. In all the tile work looked like DIY in some areas. I would suggest hiring Curt for poring the shower pan, Doors, plumbing. but I would sub out the tile work to a pro tile installer. If you find one who is not busy you will save a bunch of money and better results.
Description of Work: Tear down of old shower. Saving shower door. re-enforcing sub floor. Pooring new shower pan. Re connecting plumbing. Tile shower floor and walls. Re install shower door.

+ 1 moreWe found him on the list. We spent about $900 on that work. I left for work and when I came back he was still here and finished up just as he promised on time. He was excellent and he has really, really done a good job for us. The price was right and he also gave us 10%off. He is going to be here next Monday to do our other bathroom.
Description of Work: We used Curt’s Home Repairs LLC about a month ago and he installed my new faucet, sink, cabinetry and mirror. He also replaced the toilet and put up baseboards throughout the entire house.

I walked her through on how to turn off the water main. Using Angie's List, I called well-rated handymen, of which Curt's Home Repairs was one. He said he would go immediately to survey the situation. He also gave me his rates. Within 45 minutes he was out there. He called me with a repair estimate, which I approved. He had the problem corrected within a total of two hours from the initial call. My tenant raved about his professionalism and his politeness. Kudos!
Description of Work: Repaired exterior water valve that fed water to the back yard. The valve that busted was plastic. He replaced it with a brass valve.

He also had daily touchpoints with me so I knew at all times what the next steps were. I will definitely have Curt do more work for me and will not hesitate to recommend him.
Description of Work: Curt's Home Services "gutted" my hall bathroom and replaced a bathtub with a walk-in shower. He moved the plumbing up to shower height, relocated the drain, built 2 shampoo shelves, a corner bench seat and then installed ceramic tile to the walls, the shower floor and the bathroom floor. Curt then installed a new toilet, a grantie counter top and sink combo, all of the fixtures along with moving the vanity light and repairing the drywall.

The closet came out great; it looks like it came with the house because he put the bullnose corners on and textured it too to match another room. The wood floor also looks sharp. Overall a great experience. Curt is very knowledgable and we will hire him again when needed.
Description of Work: Framed a closet and put the doors back up in a bedroom, put a laminate wood floor in another with new baseboards, lowered a ceiling fan and put in a wall switch to go with it, changed the track light fixture in kitchen to a chandelier, changed out another light, fixed a leaking faucet hose, and replaced some kitchen outlets.

+ -1 moreHe was punctual giving me a bid. He and another contractor gave me the same bid, but I got a better description from Curt on what he was going to do. When he came to do the job, he brought another worker. They worked steadily for the whole day, masking the room, taking out the old drywall, repairing the pipe responsible for the leak, replacing damaged insulation, and beginning replacing dry wall. It took two days to complete the job and they were very neat and polite. At the end of the job I noted one part that I thought wasn't done well enough. He brought out some more plastic and re-masked and re-textured the area without complaint. The ceiling looks pretty good too!
Description of Work: Removed, replaced, and re-textured water damaged dry ceiling in several rooms. Repaired wall plumbing.

+ -1 moreI called Curt in the evening to ask if he would oversee our out-of-state rental property which currently has an elderly couple living there. I explained that they often need help with things around the house and/or to oversee work they are supposed to do (yard care) according to the lease. I asked if Curt does this kind of work. Curt assured me he did, but said he did not want to talk to me at that time, as he said he had just gotten home from work. He promised me that his wife, who does all his booking, would call next day. By noon next day, his wife had not called, so I called her. She would not quote me a price and said Curt had to call me back again. Curt did not call me back, so I called him at 6:30pm that night. Curt was abrupt and rude, interrupting me to repeatedly state what he would not do, as opposed to what he would do, and said that in my case he would not extend the free estimate visit which he usually extends to customers since he needed to go to property immediately and make sure my elderly tenant had properly hung a cabinet door. He then took the phone numbers of my tenants, said he would call them next day and arrange a time to visit them next week, and let me know he had done so. He told me to email him confirmation of everything I wanted done. Then he hung up before providing his email. I called right back - no answer. The next day, by noon he had not called to let me know he'd contacted tenants. I called his wife, again. The wife informed me that he had not yet called. I cancelled the service. I cancelled my brief
Description of Work: Curt was rude and abrupt on the phone, often interrupting me to tell me what he wouldn't do, as opposed to what he would do. I think a lot can be gained from first impressions, so I hired someone else before more problems accrued.

+ 0 moreAccurate quote (he didn't try to bump it even though there were a few unforeseen details that he tended to for us.) Always on time. Got it done on time and budget. It looks great!
Description of Work: We had a leak in our upstairs master bedroom's bathroom. We got three bids and Curt's was the lowest bid. In giving us the estimate and in doing the work, Curt always showed up on time. He went out of his way for us to obtain the jacuzzi tub that fit in our space. We purchased a drop in tub (which did not fit in our space) and Curt called all over the valley to locate a tub that would work and then he went kind of far to pick it up. This was after he picked up and returned the original tub that we mistakenly purchased. He told us that the job would take about a week and it did. He removed our old tub and tile which was built with a tub high shelf that leaned toward the wall instead of towards the tub, thus the crumbling of the grout and the subsequent leak. Curt built us a wall so that we did not have the potentially leaking shelf. He retiled with the tile of our choice. He was very accurate in detailing what items we needed to purchase before he showed up (tile, sanded grout, etc.) He also suggest and built two shelves into the new wall for us, one big one and one small one. We really liked his suggestions and we really appreciate what he did for us. After he completed the job, we called him in a panic because our power in the bathroom stopped working. He responded immediately and was very patient in walking us through the steps to take to determine why we lost power. It turns out it was nothing to do with the work he did - it was just a gfci outlet that popped - not one that he had anything to do with. His follow up was great, even though the job was already done.

He also cleaned up behind himself and made sure he didn't get the white ceiling fan dirty. He was very friendly and helpful with all my questions. I will definitely call him again when I need repairs or installments done.

+ 2 moreCurt came in and gave me an estimate, lower than others who came out. He was able to schedule me in a week later. He worked for about a week and a half. He works hard and fast. I was amazed he got so much done in so little time. He cleaned up after his day, and worked carefully and covered everything. I needed a little sheetrock work done a few days later, and even though he had another job, he made a trip out to do it at the end of his day. He's just that helpful and kind. He will be coming out for three days to do more electrical and plumbing work. I hesitate to say too many nice things about Curt. I don't want him to get too busy if I need him again.
Description of Work: Curt is Superman! He came in and built a beautiful pantry in my kitchen, He did the electrical and very creative plumbing to make my new island work, knocked out shelves in my niches, and sheetrocked the walls, matched the texture beautifully, installed new doors and frames, knocked out 3 windows and put french doors in their places.

+ -1 moreAs a single woman, I thought my plumbing problem was a big deal. He assured me it wasn't a big deal and took a part from his truck to make the repair for the leak. He didn't charge me a penny and said to just remember him the next time I have a bigger project. It was a similar experience when he repaired the door, if he charged me anything at all it was a nominal fee. Needless to say, I really like him and his methods of getting repeat business. It was almost like he was my neighbor, he seems really fair. He does minor and complex jobs that someone who isn't really handy could really benefit from. He is punctual, down to earth and friendly. He does a number of things from bathroom remodeling to tiling. He does free estimates and he also gives discounts to seniors. He is also licensed in the state of Nevada.

+ -1 moreCurts wife schedualed the appoinment, Curt came on time figured out the problem got the parts and fixed it on his next trip. The other handy men woulden't come over when they heard it was an a/c problem but Curt understood it was just a leak an fixed it with a little ingenuitiey.
Description of Work: Curt fixed an a/c pan leak. My a/c in the attic was leaking from a hole in the drip pan which is inside the unit. A/C compinies wanted 800 to 1000 to fix a leak,Curt built a pan under the unit connected to the drain and its solved the problem.

+ -1 moreIt went really well. The new tub looks great. To make sure that everything was done to my liking we went over each detail before Curt got started. I told him that I don't like surprises and he said that neither does he. After it was finished there was part of the wall where the new drywall didn't match the existing stuff (I am picky) so I asked Curt to come out and fix it. He came out and fixed it and now everything matches perfectly. He even guarantees his work for one year. Thank you Curt for all of your hard work. I will definitely be using him again.
Description of Work: I had a small bathtub in our master bathroom and I contacted Curt to replace it with a larger tub. I found the tub the I wanted online and I had him come out and do an estimate for me. He told me that to take down the shower doors, take out the old tub, re-tile the floor, re-tile the walls, and repair the drywall that would be affected that the total cost would be $1,700 (labor only). I purchased all of the materials and let Curt know that everything was ready. After tearing out the old tub he put in the new tub and even installed some custom tile on the walls to make it look really good.
