It is now a full week later, and my Grandfather Clock is, and has been, working beautifully! Every time it chimes, I smile, and appreciate how nice it is when a needed household repair goes very well. Based upon this overall experience, I would recommend Mag, without reservation, to treat your ailing clock needs. The price was very reasonable, given the excellent result. Mag was competent, gracious, efficient, and even fun! How can you beat that package? What a pleasure it is to be able to recommend someone good to other good folks. It has just occurred to me that I forgot to put out the glass of milk and plate of cookies (and my wife makes lots of delicious cookies)! Don't you forget!
Description of Work: Our special family Grandfather Clock was not working properly for the first time in 36 years (truly!) The pendulum was not swinging freely for more than 10 to 15 minutes without coming to a stop, (and, of course, the clock stopping), and the chimes were also very sluggish, as a result. I was upset because this clock is like an old and faithful friend in our home. We had recently moved from a coastal area, where the clock had spent its entire time in our household, to an area (Las Vegas) with much lower humidity. The clock worked "normally" for two months, and then, the above situation happened all at once. My rational conclusion at this point was that the clock might need lubricated, but rational conclusions have not always been that dependable, in my experience, when something is in need of repair. My first inclination was to consult Angie's List for that proverbial "little old clock repairman." I contacted "Mag" (sole proprietor) of ClockCraft as soon as I had reviewed Angie's clock repair resources, and he answered personally and right away. I described the problem to him on the phone, he asked a few questions, and said that the clock probably just needed some lubrication. This, of course, is just what I wanted to hear, but he sounded quite expert, and even had the little old guy accent! Mag asked me if he could make a house-call that evening to look at the clock, and after saying "absolutely," I thought I must be on a hidden camera show! Three hours later, Mag knocked at my door, looking every bit the part of the "little old clock repairman," complete with his briefcase repair kit! He quickly and expertly went to work, tenderly taking the clock works out of the Grandfather cabinet, removing the panels, and manipulating and lubricating all the appropriate little spaces to, once again, free up all the precision moving parts in the clock. Just forty minutes later, Mag had the clock back together, hanging in the cabinet, and working perfectly! He showed me a few "tricks" on taking the best care of my clock, packed his tools away in his kit, and "up the chimney he went" to meet his next sick clock!
