 + -1 moreA man from The Affordable Handyman came and gave me an estimate of $375 to do the painting if the cinder blocks. We had set up the day he was to come at that time. While I was at the paint store, I wanted to double check the amount of paint I would need and was informed that the man no longer worked for them. A second man then came out and gave me an estimate of $700 for the same job. I told him to forget it. I'm glad I had to call about the paint; otherwise, I'm afraid I would have been stuck with a bill nearly double what I had been quoted.
Description of Work: They were supposed to paint the inward side walls of the cinder block wall that surrounds my house. I was to supply the paint and the drop cloth. I suppose the wall surrounds between a 1/3 of an acre.

 + 1 moreI would say they are the best handymen in Vegas. They stay to explain everything to you even if they have other appointments after you and they make sure everything they do is precise. He gave me an estimate that was right on and he didn t add anything to it.
Description of Work: Our smoke alarm batteries continuously died and lose their charge even though we thought it was wired to the house. They were able to rewire the alarms to the house. While they were at my house I also had them install some hardware for a couple of my kitchen cabinets and drawers and put sealer around the bathroom sink.

 + -1 moreThe original estimator was nice and provided an estimate in line with another company. However, shortly after this initial meeting, he was fired by the company, rehired, and fired again. The workers that were sent out were condescending and unwilling to listen when I pointed out that things were not progressing as planned. They became irate when I refused to pay them that day for the day's work, even though it was not to specifications. It was an overall bad experience. They did not arrive when promised and did not call to identify that they were not coming. The owners of the company seemed to change multiple times and each call was met with animosity and resistance.
Description of Work: Commissioned to remove and replace a cinder block wall (12 X 7), remove a pony wall (4 X 7), and custom build a wrought iron gate. They removed the old gate and installed a gate with parts from Home Depot that did not meet the specifications, or needs as identified. The gate had rough, exposed cut edges and was 4 inches from the ground, placing my dog at risk for injury. They demolished part of the wall and left the rubble in the area without cleaning it up. I ultimately had to have another company repair the damage to the gate by building a separate custom gate (Artistic Iron) and remove the work they did. I personally demolished the rest of the pony wall since they left it with exposed rebar. They never addressed the 12 X 7 wall. Rather than pay them, they ended up paying me to have the other company come in and build a custom gate.
