The salesperson helped me choose colors and style in the showroom, let me take samples home, then came to discuss options/decisions based on what the samples looked like in my home. We discussed specifics on how my family used a particular room and made appropriate selections and accomodations. The installers were friendly and hard working. At one point there wasn't enough carpet ordered due to a measurement error. They got the rest of the carpet there in the next couple of days and were able to finish in a reasonable amount of time. I've done carpet selection on my own in the past and wasn't happy with the results. This time the end result is excellent!

The installer showed up on time; however, after taking a look at the stairway he stated the seller in the office (Chris) did not tell him that he would need a bottom kick plate for the first step going up. When he finished the stairs he did not install a metal or wood piece between the carpet and wooding flooring; instead he simply tucked the carpet under the wood flooring (it did not look good at all). The installer put 8 deep scratches in the wooden stair hand rails (thanks, just what I needed more repair costs). I called and spoke to Chris telling him the installer told us he did not bring or install a bottom kick plate because he was not told to bring one and the installer did not put a spacer at the top of the stairs between the carpet and wooden flooring. Chris acted stupid on the phone like he had no idea what I was talking about (regarding the kick plate or the space at the top of the stairs). He had never provided a price on the two rooms he measured for us, he failed to give us a quote on finishing the wooden flooring; but he did give us a price to place 2 small spacers between the wooden flooring and carpet in the two rooms he did measure for us. He quoted a cost of $295.00, stating the spacers were expensive. I told him that was way too much money, that I would go to Home Depot and buy a spacer for $6.00 and it would take me 20 minutes to put them both in myself. I told him good luck in staying in business, that he would need it - then told him Good Bye! Run away from anyone who even speaks the name of this business!
Description of Work: I went to the Charleston store and spoke to the sales person (Chris Allen); I told him we needed to get new carpet and padding put on the stairway of our home. I also told him we had a few other things we wanted estimates on while he was there (like some unfinished hardwood flooring, two doorways where carpet met the hardwood flooring and needed a wood or metal spacer put in; and two rooms needing new carpet and padding (a large family room and bedroom). He gave us a time the next day he would show up for an estimate. He brought the carpet samples with him the next day when he came (late) to measure the areas. He complained he lived on the other side of town (Henderson). He quoted a price for the new carpet and padding for the stairway; we paid him with the use of a credit card, after he told us there would be a five day delay on installing it, if we paid by check, even after the company advertises next day service. We were told he would get back to us the next day on the estimates for the other measurements he had taken. I should have checked Angies List first.

I chose a style I liked for the family room. Not once was it mentioned the fiber was polyester. Arnie, in showing samples quoted nylon stainmaster guarantees. This style arrived before the other piece for my dining/living room. When I questioned the fiber and the warranty at installation. Arnie said "no one ever gives a warranty" and it was the carpet I chose. He instructed the installer to bring it back to the store, in spite of my protests. I emailed Mohawk carpeting and their credit service to get information of a warranty. The credit service verified my address which Arnie wrote on the application. He had put Las Vegas, Washington!! He's lived in Las Vegas, Nevada over 40 years. I believe this was intentional as I could purchase at any Mohawk carpet dealer with this credit card once received. The second piece was 'back-ordered'. I verified the style with Mohawk to be nylon. When we contacted Arnie regarding the installation of the carpet, he said he'd put a note in our file to have Carpet Galore file a small claims suit if we didn't come into the store and sign papers and accept installation. Now, folks, the credit company had PAID Carpets Galore and the STORE had our carpets...hmm, how is it we were liable for a law suit?? We swallowed our pride (in the interest of moving into the house on time) and decided to ask the installation manager when we could get the carpets. Today, between 8-10am. The installers (who spoke little English) arrived at 3pm, installed the polyester piece (which I believe was charged at nylon prices.) But when unrolling out the dining piece...it was 2 feet short. So it has to be reordered. (Will it be the same quality??) My husband lost a days wages. We were told we had to negotiate only with the salesman, Arnie, as the owner was not on site often and the installation manager wouldn't get involved. If we cancel the order...we face a 30% restock fee. I suggest you get a sample of the carpet you are going to purchase. And make sure you are paying for the quality of carpet you think you bought. Yes, you can get a warranty. The manufacturer WANTS you to clean the carpet according to their warranty standards. The quality of the pad makes a difference in the warranty, as well. Be sure to cut the shipping invoice from the plastic wrap on your carpet. That was the only way I could verify what I had with the manufacturer. Arnie didn't write down ALL the numbers on the purchase order. Buyer beware with this company.

Carpets Galore performed an estimate on a job that I specifically told them needed to be completed in a timely manner. I agreed to the quote and paid a $1,000 deposit. The sales person, Arnie, told me that he had forgotten to add a part of the job and I was getting a great deal. On the day of install no one showed up and upon calling to find out why I was told that my install was canceled because Arnie had mis-measured and the price was increased from $2,000 to $2,450. For four hours I was at Carpets Galore's office going back and forth over the quote. TWO different measurers were sent to my office to check the space, I had to accompany both of them! Finally, after cutting down the space to be carpeted on my part to meet a budget, I was told that 100% payment was due up-front. When I post-dated the check, they called me back yelling at me and I finally canceled the job. The most upsetting experience was the continual lack of accountability and consideration.

As other reviewers have stated, there is certainly no problem with Carpets Galore's prices; they are fantastic. However, as others have also stated, their installation services stinks out loud. The installers arrived to install laminate in my living room and hallways, but did not have the edge pieces they needed. They installed the flooring in a prompt manner, but by the time they came back two weeks later with the edge pieces, the laminate ends had started to lift. The installation of the edges was poorly done, and I have had to re-glue the majority of the pieces. Further, the team did not bring the vinyl flooring the same day as they had the laminate (I was promised both would be installed the same day.) My wife dealt with the vinyl flooring crew when they arrived. They did a so-so job and (according to her) were somewhat surly. Further, they tracked flooring glue all over the new laminate, causing me to spend an hour or two scrubbing it off.

Carpets Galore did a very poor job installing our carpet, it just didn't look good. The seams were showing and the guys could hardly speak English, so communicating was hard. We felt the price was very reasonable. I would use this company again, but I would make sure I got a different crew.
Description of Work: They installed carpet in two bedrooms, our living and dining rooms and in the hallway of our home.

Carpets Galore took only a few days to do this job. The first time they did the work, it was not done quite correctly, but they came back and redid it at no extra charge. Now it looks fine and we're very pleased with the result.

Carpet Galore did not do to good of a job. They put holes in my wall from their staple gun and whenever they moved the carpet around; they also put holes in my wall with their feet. I tried to get them to repair the holes and they refused. I am not very pleased. I even took them to court and still had to end up paying them anyways. I would never hire them again. I would not recommend them to anyone for any kind of service either. They were not very professional.
Description of Work: Carpet Galore was hired to install carpet in my living room, dining room, hallway and the stairway as well.
