+ -1 moreIt started out well. Everyone was really friendly in the sales office when we bought the door. The main problem was that the office manager's husband was the installer and measurer for our door. So, once we had a problem, we got absolutely nowhere with anyone locally. We had to call the head office to explain our problem and even then, they could not or would not right the situation. We also took photos of all of the problems and sent them to the regional representative. Besides the fact that the door didn't fit right, it also wasn't installed correctly. It would shut on its own, as though it was out of plumb. It also had two areas where the color of the iron was much lighter than the rest. And the detail in the scrolling over the window had many jagged areas instead of being smooth. In the showroom everything looks smooth and perfect. In reality it was not! This company totally lacks integrity and the workmanship is not up to par with the price.
Description of Work: We ordered a custom front door from Cantera Doors. We finally received the door after waiting 16 weeks for it. When the installers put it in, it was 4 inches too short on top and 1.5 inches too small on all other sides. When I asked why it didn't fit, I was told to put a 2x4 in the gap and have the wall re-plastered. I told him that a custom door should fit in the space. We didn't want a smaller door as our house is quite large. To make a long story short, we ended up speaking with the vice president of the company who put us in touch with the SW regional rep. In the end, they would not admit fault, even though they were the ones who measured for it. They would not give us a substantial discount to keep the door, nor would they rush a new door. It was an appalling experience and I would never ever recommend this company to anyone. On a positive note, they did refund our money and we now have a better door (that fits!) and cost substantially less. Buy a door elsewhere!
