Description of Work: ArtCon came out to give us a quote on resurfacing and repainting our Kool deck around the pool. They were punctual to the first appointment and very knowledgeable. They provided a quote right away which was very nice. The quote was very reasonable but not the cheapest. ArtCon came highly recommended by our neighbors so therefore we decided to go forward with them. I am glad we did!! They worked us into the schedule within a reasonable amount of time. The crew came out on time on the schedule start date and were completed within 2 days. Our new Kool deck looks amazing and we could not be happier.

Description of Work: ARTCON resurfaced our garage floor. Additionally they were hired to caulk three areas of our concrete wall in the backyard. The flooring was done well, but it has since chipped (almost 2 years later). It required 3 calls to have the concrete wall completed.

Description of Work: The person that came out to do the estimate was knowledgeable and prompt. However, we did not use them due to the pricing. They quoted between $6000-$7000 for the exact same job we ended up paying $2850 for. I’m not sure why there was such a big difference in the price but I’m very happy with the company we chose. Shop around!

Description of Work: I hired ArtCon Inc. to do stamped concrete, pavers, construct walls, strip and reseal concrete, clean and re-sand and seal existing pavers. On March 10, 2011 I paid ArtCon Inc. $13,316.60 for half the total as a deposit. I was promised by Austin Fischer, ArtCon employee who wrote all the contractual details, that a crew of ArtCon employees would complete the job within 2 weeks maximum and a supervisor would always be on sight overseeing everything. Work began on March 16, 2011. Issues soon began occurring and the job was not performed according to the detailed contract, there was a lack of supervision and the laborers did not understand english. 1st issue- A block wall was initially constructed with the wrong block and had to be knocked down. When it was reconstructed, it was bowed and had to be knocked down and redone again. Currently the block wall is almost 1 foot from where it was contracted to be initially. Consequently pavers which were supposed to be flush to this wall are now located 7 inches short leaving a gap. 2nd- The contract stated that ArtCon would tape and mask off all structure. When they used 'strip ease' to strip concrete, chemical splattered on french doors that had not been taped and masked off, they power-washed to remove chemical and paint was blown off from their power wash. Also because the pool was not taped and masked off per the agreement, stones and debris jammed up one of the control modules for the pool which took several days to fix and required replacement of the control module. 3rd- We were told by ArtCon employee, Austin Fischer that all electrical and speaker wire would be sleeved before cement footings were poured. Cement was poured, in six area, directly on electrical and speaker wiring. 4th- When they set the forms for the stamped concrete, existing shrubs and irrigation lines were just ripped out. As a result there were more than 17 leaks along with breaks in the main line caused by the setting of their forms. Because they did not cap these lines and fix the punctures, I had flooding in my yard. There are still irrigation leaks. 5th- They put pavers down over existing irrigation without capping it. 6th- They did not clean the 2,864 square feet of existing pavers and did not apply 2 coats of sealer per the written contract. At no time did ArtCon reassure me that everything would be fixed or provide a date of completion. It wasn't until I got the Contractor's Board involved that ArtCon began to address some of these issues. Before the Contractor's Board meeting on April 15th, 2011 ArtCon sent a team a workers to repair 17 water leaks and tear down walls and footings that were not constructed per contracted specifications. We met with ArtCon on more than one occasion and they are not willing to come to a compromise. Besides our deposit, ArtCon is now requesting payment off 2,475 and has put lien on our property.

+ -1 moreOverall finish quality looks good. They worked with me on moving a irrigation box to accomodate the footprint of the patio. Miss communication led to displaced dirt being spead across the back yard instead of removal. Still waiting for removal to occure. I feel it was a little pricey... No discount was offered for being and angieslist member even though the profile indicted one may be available.
Description of Work: I had a 10' x 18' paver patio installed in my back yard.

+ -1 moreThe experience went well. The pricing was good; it was competitive. I was satisfied with the work. They were some problems with communication. The person that I was dealing with had a personal problem at home, which was why he didn't get back to me in a timely manner. It was an exception to the rule. I would expect in the future that he would respond to me in a more timely manner. I understood afterward that he had a personal problem. All in all they were good. The price was good.

+ -1 moreThe work was started and completed all in one day. The crew were efficent and the result was an excellent finish with which we are very pleased. We had paid 50% deposit when placing the work order, and paid the second 50% at the completion of the work. However, just two weeks later we received by certified mail a "Notice of right to lien" from the subcontracted company which had supplied the concrete. A week later another "notice of right to lien" arrived from another subcontracted company. We contacted Artcon, Inc to ask why we were receiving these notices concerning unpaid invoices, and we were told that the invoices would be paid soon. The months went by, each time we contacted Artcon, Inc to ask when they would pay their invoices, we would be told " in a few days".or some other story. An email was sent to their management and no reply received. Eventually after 3 months we received by certified mail the "Notice of Intent to Lien" from the subcontracted concrete company advising that if the amount still due was not paid within 15 days, a claim of lien would be recorded against us. At our first opportunity after the Christmas Holiday period we went directly to the subcontracted company to verify the facts and events. Fortunately for us ,on checking their accounts they were able to inform us that the invoice had just been paid. Then they were able to provide us with a "Unconditional Waiver and Release upon Final Payment" document. This was a great relief to us after this stress had been placed upon us by Artcon, Inc.

It was a very messy job to grind off all of the old "Kool Deck," but they completely covered our pool and adjacent planting to minimize the mess. Everything was done is a very workmanlike manner, and the workers were very efficient.
Description of Work: The concrete walkway around our pool was coated with "Kool Deck" which had started deteriorating. They grinded the deck off the original concrete, sealed with an efflorescence blocker, and then redid the "Kool Deck" in a color we selected.

+ 0 moreArtCon was a sub-contractor to another company. We discussed the pad layout and our design intentions w/ ArtCon. We selected colors and textures for the concrete. ArtCon recommended a dark color because they actually listened to us when we told them that we wanted the final product to be a deep, rich color (a shade you find in the local mountains). They laid-out the pads and, prior to pouring, they asked us to approve the layout. That's when we discovered that I had assumed a 45-degree angle off the house vs a 60 degree angle. I believe this added approx $200 to the orig estimate because it required a few hours of added work to move the form work. ArtCon's solution was great and we proceeded beautifully from there! Once the concrete cured and all the landscaping had been installed, ArtCon returned to add some black coloring and seal the pads. They did a fantastic job and we love the work they did.
Description of Work: Installed 3 multi-level, stained and textured concrete patio pads. After cure-time, ArtCon returned to seal the pads.

+ 0 moreSince they were a sub-contractor, I did not have as much contact with them as I would have had I hired the, directly. I was told when they would be there to do the work by my Landscaper. They showed up on time and did the work as requested. Due to weather, the patio cured a bit too quickly on the top and that made some problems. I called and the office woman told me not to worry, but I did and was confused about what should happen and how it should look. I had them come out and look and they agreed there were problems. So did the landscaper. The owner was quick to call me and set up a time to repair. I was skeptical about the success of repair, but thought he should have the chance to try. They did the repair and I was 95% happy with it. The owner and I agreed that we would watch it and see how it goes. If I is not satisfactory, he will replace. It was good working with him and he was not trying to convince me there was not problem where there really was one. All is well to date.

+ -1 moreArtcon came on the only day in months that we had rain to resurface our driveway and porch. They didn't want to lose a whole truck of cement due to the rain so they stayed and poured the driveway and porch anyway. Their supervisors came and left men who didn't speak English so it was hard to communicate with them. The job was finished that day leaving brown blotches but they did come back with a cleaning and paint crew to take care of the dark bands left from pouring the job in the rain. The job all in all was a good job and I will have them come back again for other work.
Description of Work: Artcon poured 369 square feet of concrete to resurface our existing driveway and front porch.

+ 0 moreVan explained the entire process to us. The price we were quoted was much better than prices we had gotten elsewhere. The workers paid extra attention to detail with the leveling and coloring of the patio. The only thing we had noticed once the sealant had dried that there were some bubbly patches. Van came back to take a look. He had the workers come back the next day to fix and reseal the entire patio. We now have a beautiful patio thanks to ArtCon.
