Affordable Tree Service

They had to use heavy machinery on my lawn that resulted in some dead spots. They did a marginal cleanup. They cleanup and the way they left the condition was a little less than optimal. The tree service was fine. They should have picked after themselves a little bit more, took a little more caution with the equipment were using on my lawn. That was the first time I used them.

They were terrific! Showed on time. Worked quickly and efficiently. Easy to work with. I will definitely use againa.

I called due to their rating requesting to have one tall Date Palm trimmed. The explained immediately that their minimum job cost $175 and it might be out of my budget. I guess I wasn't worth their while. They offered to provide the name of someone who would do it cheaper but they were un-insured. Very disappointed.

I used this service about two years ago to remove a tree and was really impressed with their professionalism and quality of work, so when I needed two more removed, I called them again. However, this time I was disappointed. The last time they came out and checked for utilities before digging, and when they were done, you could not tell there had ever been a tree there. This time however, they did not check for utilities even thought this time they were much closer to them, and after they were done, they left the yard kind of messy. I would still recommend them, but not as whole heartedly as before.

The entire crew knows their stuff. Supervisor knew way more about what to do than I did, and that is saying something! Once directed the crew got to work with amazing speed. I paid close attention and this was no hack job. Every cut was right where it should have been. The tree looks amazing. The yard looks amazing. Plenty of areas for new growth in the center of the tree which will help long term. Nothing about the tree is out of balance. 75 mph winds will not wind up blowing the tree down, or causing roof damage. Payment was easily accomplished with an e-mail invoice. I had a choice to pay over the phone as well. I will be using this same company next year after my tree grows out again. I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

The crew was to be here between 10am and 1pm. I was a bit disappointed that no one called to let us know the work crew was going to be a little late (30 min). I called, and Eric apologized for any inconvenience. When the crew got here, they were quick to get started. They finished an excellent job in all areas, very quickly. I am completely satisfied with the job that was done.

i had my wife handle the quote.... i didn't even shop these guys because i was told by many people that they are amazing and cheaper than the other guys, some people said they were considerably cheaper... however like i said, i didn't shop them. i had 5 trees removed and 5 stumps ground down, and a decent sized dead branch cut off of another tree. one tree was very small, one was a massive fig tree. other 3 were medium sized pines. they were fast, friendly , and did a great job! thanks!

I contacted Affordable Tree Company based on their reviews on Angie's List. I had a desert willow tree in the back yard that I'd decided to remove. We scheduled an appointment and the company sent Mike out to give me an estimate. Mike arrived on time and gave me an estimate for having the tree removed and a separate cost if I wanted the stump ground down. I then asked him about another bush I had in the front yard. It had come up on its own and I'd been trimming it as a bush, but was concerned because I wasn't sure what it was. It turned out to be an African Sumac, so I asked Mike to provide a quote for removing that as well. The total quote was $468 to remove and grind the stumps on both. I thought the price was quite reasonable and scheduled an appointment for the following week. I wasn't home for the second appointment, but my husband said they arrived on time and were very efficient. The first crew, who removed the trees, were done in about 30 minutes. The second crew arrived about 30 minutes after that and ground the stumps. They did such a good job that you can barely tell that trees were ever there. They cleaned up as well and the yard looks great. I wouldn't hesitate to contact this company again.

They showed up on time. The crew leader spoke to me to confirm the job and they were very knowledgeable. They were quick and efficient, but best of all they cleaned up so well.

They were very responsive whenever I emailed them about questions, quotes, and scheduling. Tree guys came in on time and finished the job on time. Very satisfied.

We moved in to our house about 1.5 years ago and had no idea how large the front yard Sumac tree would grow and spread out. Although we would trim the lower branches around the driveway as well as those branches that would touch the house, it became very evident that we would never be able to get to the top of the tree and truly shape it. After reading the reviews I contacted Affordable Tree Service via email and they quickly set up an appointment for a free estimate. Since the tree was out front, they were able to assess the tree without anyone being home. Within days I received my estimate for both trimming the tree and shaping the tree. The email communications were prompt and informative. As an Angie's List member they also applied a 10% discount. They instructed me that due to the height of the tree they would require the use of a 'cherry picker' which would increase the price quoted by about $70. For me this was within reason and I requested that they perform the service. Because the original quote was done in July we had to wait for the colder months to trim and shape the tree. They performed the service on December 22nd and we could not be more satisfied. They arrived at Noon and were done by 1:30. The four gentlemen who performed the service were polite and efficient. They asked what we were looking for to make sure they were on the same page with what we expected. They listened, and might I add artistically completed the service beyond what we expected. We were extremely satisfied with the service and the end result was striking!! Pulling up to the house and seeing this beautifully shaped tree added a curb appeal I didn't realized I had missed.

These guys are the BEST. They are fast, thorough and pay attention to detail. This is my third year with them, and I could not be happier. They are truly Professionals. It took them about 1 hour for a job that would have taken me all day to complete.

All went well except that they arrived at about 7:30 AM vs. the 9-11 timeframe I was told. 10% discount for Angie's List people.

Great communication. The estimate was done quickly and professionally presented. The work was done as scheduled. Great cleanup. It's as if the tree was never there.

Despite that fact that I gave specific instructions twice to the tree service not to start trimming a particular ornamental tree until I was present (I even tied a big fat ribbon around it per Eric's specific instructions), the tree service went ahead and started chopping up the tree without my presence. This was a real problem for me as the tree is the center of my backyard. Further, I had to remind the office about the quote given to me by Eric because their e-mailed quote did not include the Angie's discount and it did not comport with the quote given to me by Eric. There is a clear disconnect between the office/accounting, Eric (owner and manager) and the actual tree trimmers. THEY DO NOT COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER AT ALL. I was not happy with its failure to follow instructions and I only received a lousy $25 discount for my troubles. This company has a real communication problem within itself.

The uniformed crew came by in two stages today as scheduled. The first group trimmed the trees quickly and neatly. The second group came by to grind down the stumps into a fine mulch and remove all debris. This is a group of pros who I would hire again without hesitation. They exceeded expectations.

The actual tree looks fine, but the service left a lot to be desired. The service was supposed to take place between noon and 2pm. The house is a rental and they have a dog which is why I needed to be clear with the time. Also, I wanted to be there because the HOA has specific rules about the trimming. Regardless, the workers let themselves into the back yard when no one was home and performed the work and left. When I called shortly after noon upset and concerned, my concerns were met with a sarcastic tone and a complete lack of understanding. He was shockingly unprofessional and had no idea why not sticking to the timeline was such a big deal. He "never had a complaint about being early before". I calmly tried to explain why coming onto my property at a time when we had not agreed was very problematic, but he simply didn't have the capacity to understand and lacked the emotional concern I would have expected from a service provider. I'm sure he's a great tree trimer, but his problem solving and business skills are sophomoric at best. We agreed a 50 dollar reduction in price was sufficient...but if he would have simply heard my concerns and apologized I would have been significantly happier.

Mark came out for a free estimate within a day or two of our initial call. He was very knowledgeable and professional and knew what work should be done based on my requests. Job was scheduled for a couple weeks later - soonest available opening. 4 guys came out on the job day - they were prompt and all very professional. They were very efficient and did a great job of cleaning everything up when they were done. I will absolutely use Affordable Tree Service for any and all of my future tree needs. I also recommend them to anyone else - don't even bother calling anyone else. They do great work and their prices are fair. A+

They provided us with an estimate, and immediately sent the estimate via email with their insurance and license information. We scheduled an appointment at the next available date. They arrived on time on the scheduled date. The requested work was reviewed at the time of their arrival. They completed the job efficiently. The area was cleaned up. We were very pleased with the work that was completed, and the clean up afterwards. We will definitely use them in the future. We only wish we had found them sooner!

It went great. Crew arrived as scheduled. They were very professional. My yard now looks good instead of like a jungle. The cost was reasonable compared to others. I would recommend Affordable Tree Service and will use them again.

They came when they were supposed to, cleaned up very well, were fast, efficient, and did an excellent job. We will have them come back next year.

We waited to do this review to see how the palms did and are pleased to say, so far, so good. All the trees seem to be doing very well in their new locations. We have lost a few "fronds" on some of the trees but we expected this. The crew ran into some issues with our soil (some areas with caliche, a rock-hard kind of dirt that requires a jack hammer to break through. In these areas, we had the crew mound the tree to give room for root growth. We watered by hand a couple times a week in the beginning (was over 105 for 21 days in a row in June) but now are just using the drip system for watering. We got a number of estimates for our job. Affordable was very reasonable-not the highest or lowest bid. Crews were generally on time, knowledgeable and did not waste time. Oswaldo, the foreman, was very good and easy to work with. None of the companies that we got estimates from guaranteed that the trees would survive the transplant process, with estimates ranging from 50% to 80% survival. So basically we were expecting to lose a few but we are now hopeful they will all survive over time. Pineapple palms are expensive trees. Larger trees in retail nurseries can run upwards of $7,000 per tree. The ones we had moved weren't of that size but a couple were probably in the $3,200 each range. So we were concerned about the transplanting of such a valuable asset. At this point we are pleased even beyond what we hoped for. Great job.

I had two trees that had to be cut down in the backyard. The company was late for the time scheduled, however, I am one that allows for extra time because during the course of a day workers may get behind or encounter things they were not expecting so being late is not an issue with me. The crew got to work as soon as they arrived and had the job completed in 1 1/2 hours. They cleaned up after themselves and I really have no complaints about this company. The price was affordable and the company has been a pleasure to deal with. I am not planning on having anymore trees in my yard so will not be using this company in the future but definitely recommend them to others.
