Absolute Flood Response & AFR Construction

They will nickel and dime you to death and won't provide any estimate or even an itemized bill afterwards. They'll sit on the bill for 6 months, with no contact at all, and then reach out to you saying you still owe money on a bill you've NEVER seen. And even then, they won't send you the itemized bill until you demand it. Then they will bully you and threaten to file a mechanics lien if you don't pay in full immediately. You're better off going with a company that charges a flat fee. Trust me, that flat fee will be cheaper than what AFR charges and you will get better quality work!

This is a dishonest, predatory company. Read the other negative reviews and you'll see a pattern of lies, intimidation, and other bad business practices. I had a plumber come out because I had noticed some minor water damage on a garage wall next to where the tankless water heater was hung. I had already opened up a nice 3'x3' area so the plumber could see the issue. Once I had his estimate I asked him what the next steps would be after his repair was finished. He mentioned he had worked with Absolute Flood Response and that he'd call them to come out and give me an estimate as they did both remediation and had a construction company to fix the drywall. The plumber called them and later that evening two guys showed up from Absolute Flood Response. I had already filed an insurance claim before I realized my home deductible was so high, and I explained to the workers that without knowing what the job was going to cost, I didn't know if it was going to come out of my pocket, or be an insurance claim, so I needed an estimate. There was no emergency, there was no flood, matter of fact the amount of water present on the floor wouldn't have filled a thimble. So they showed me the work authorization that they needed signed to be able to give me an estimate, and the work authorization clearly stated that no work would be performed until I had received and accepted an estimate. Once I signed, they widened out the large cut in the drywall I had already made and I was told someone would be in contact the next day. They literally spent 15 minutes widening out my cut. The next day a field supervisor showed up, took a look at the job and said he'd have an estimate to me later that day. I received the estimate, and comparing it to the other estimates I received that same day, I chose to go with another company. The harassing phone calls from Absolute Flood began shortly after that. They were demanding to be paid for the "work" they performed. I was like, "what work???". They never said there would be a cost to give an estimate, and the other companies charged nothing to provide an estimate. Their position is that there was an emergency for an after-hours service call and they performed demolition and clean up. Ahhhhh, no! I told them that I understood that any "work" they performed was so that they could provide me with an estimate, which is exactly what their work authorization says. Dealing with these people has been pointless. They issue threats, saying their going to lien your property adding $800 or more to the bill for the lien costs. The office folks at Absolute Flood Response are world-class liars. They invent stories to fit their narrative, disregarding facts or even what their work authorizations say. Bottom line, understand that when you let a company like this onto your property, and they so much as sweep the floor, you just opened yourself up to an invoice of an unknown amount, which they will get paid by plain old intimidation or by the improper use of the lien system. I was forced to pay them $795 to avoid having a lien filed (and that additional expense), but I demanded the return of those funds since I never authorized any work, just an estimate. They made up a story and based on their made up story they are refusing to refund me. So, I am now off to small claims court to tell this story to the court and see what the court says. I hope my story will save others from the same hassle I ended up dealing with from Absolute Flood Response.

The workers had no respect for furniture etc. in my home. Just a small example: stood on my JBL speakers, construction dust everywhere!!!!!!!!! I had to not only hire a cleaning crew to get rid of all the mess, I had to was/dry clean all of the clothes in my closet. This company refused to accept the fact that they dropped my bathroom cabinet by 5/8th of an inch. Made a gouge out of my bathroom cabinet and patched it instead of replacing cabinet. Forman for the job would walk in and out of my house without speaking to me and I would have to call him on the phone to find out what was happening and what the schedule was. The forman would walk into my home and wake me up to talk to me instead of calling me first to see if I was available. Forman accused me of asking for things to be done for free..............and he was backed by his boss that he never said it, but workers in the house at the time heard him along with hearing him come into my home after the accusation from me and confronted me and basically called me a liar. Asked the forman to move one ceiling fixture to a place where one was taken down and he told me no. The one that was taken down will have to be put back up. The same thing was told to me about a ceiling fan. A wall upstairs had to have the wall paper taken down, I told the forman that he did not have to replace the wallpaper, but that I wanted the walls that lost the wallpaper painted in a specific color. One wall was painted what I asked and the other one was painted white. They cut the tile in the garage getting construction dust not only all over my things in the garage but all over very expensive electronic office equipment, that is stored in my garage!

Absolute was awesome. Karen was professional and, more importantly, HONEST! She worked with me to find a solution that wouldn't cost me money for something that I did not need to have. I would absolutely go to Absolute if I ever needed their services (which I sure hope I never do). I would trust them to be honest and straightforward and do right by me.

On a site visit to our home, a rep. from AFR Construction tracked some type of gear oil all over our bedroom carpet and white rug (he didn't wear booties). Our carpets were deeply stained and had a resulting awful smell due to the oil. I sent an email to Beth at AFR, and she not only responded, she offered to have someone come out and professionally clean our carpet and rug for free! I am truly impressed not only with AFR's professional courtesy in responding to my email, but also in taking responsibility for what happened and rectifying the situation at no cost to us. I'd definitely recommend using AFR to anyone looking for flood damage repair/reconstruction work. Beth and the rest of the AFR team truly define the meaning of great customer service.
