I am still uneasy about the work done. Another gentleman was here today on another errand and he pointed out that the top filter should have been replaced as it gets the dirtiest. The system we have was supposedly put in by Abbot so that is why I called them and I never asked about a discount, I just paid his bill. I was disappointed and should have complained at the time about the filters but he did the other work okay. I don't think our water has been properly filtered since his visit.
Description of Work: This work was done awhile back but at the time I was upset because the plumber brought a young man with him a teenager. Maybe it was on the job training or he was a trainee but I think it was the man's son. We had put in filters that we bought at Home Depot but then I found the instructions which said different types were needed, of two different colors. The plumber wasn't going to do the fourth which we had not replaced without charging more and proceeded to put in the very ones I had recently purchased. I honestly don't think he had a clue as to what he was doing. He did fix my leaky toilets.

This is not true, we have always had a business license, contractor's license, bonds and insurance and whenever someone identifies themselves as an Angie's List member we always provide a discount. We do hourly work without an estimate when we are called out and an estimate is not asked for by the client. We apologize for any misunderstandings.

Taking Dean's advice, and calming my wife and granddaughter's fears of my hauling a 4x6' piece of plywood and bundle of light rope to and from the roof in summer and fall, the way it is, the next owner of this house can, if he wants, simply reconnect the piping and get free hot water off the roof
Description of Work: I'd called because the plumber from Abbott had dismantled our solar water system and left me with a 50 gallon water tank that seemed too expensive to run. Dean Young came out (Former Abbott Service Supervisor) came and we mutually decided to leave the solar dismantled (I'm too old to getup on the roof twice a year to put and remove a plywood cover from one of the aluminum boxes), and he assured me that with only 2 of us here the tank would not cost $45 a month for the electricity. So we left it as is. Dean said “No charge.”

I wasn’t too impressed with them because he did not have a receptionist. When I called them, there might have been some hassling because it was a private line, so the initial reaction I did not feel he was too professional. They did come out promptly when I called them and we spent about $200.

They arrived exactly the time they said they would and that rarely happens in Las Vegas. I was very impressed because not only did they come out, but the owner came out to give me the quote. I am going to use them to do the installation once I buy the softener.

They were terrible. I spent $60, which was their service fee. They came out and tried to sell us stuff we really did not need and weren’t very professional. They were not very good.

Response from Abbott Plumbing Services
I think this customer must be mistaken. We have never charged $60 for a service call, furthermore, this person is not in our data base and neither is his address. We always give the customer the opportunity to choose from different options of fixing their plumbing problems. We don't install pictures and never have.

I started re-flooring my master bathroom, and when I took up the toilet, found the entire flange ring was rotted. Cut away the rotten wet wood and framed a new sub-floor after calling for the plumber. Took all day to prep, Plumber showed up late in the afternoon, took less then 45 minutes, $20 in parts, $135 in labor. Even though the area was well prepped, the plumber did not use the correct length for the flange, and when he went to do the final fitting, he had to jack the entire drain up with a 2x4 to make it fit. Did not provide estimate prior to starting work. I'm usually a do-it-myselfer, should have trusted myself. Will never use this plumber again. Oh, and did I mention crack, way to much cleavage.
Description of Work: Installed one 90 degree toilet flange. Area was prepped for easy access. Used the wrong size connectors and had to jack the fitting up with a 2x4 to make it fit.

NOT WELL----I had an igniter switch that stuck in place and would not light the pilot light. I told that to the initial call in for service and again when I called the second time after hearing no response in 24 hours. The teck came and said we don't carry those on the truck. So he did light the pilot light and DID NOT do anything to the igniter swithch and the charged me $110 for being here less than 10 mins. The conclusion is that yes the hot water tank is working HOWEVER, the igniter swich is still stuck which is what they were called for in the first place.
Description of Work: The hot water tank was drained as we do every 6 mths. When going to light the pilot light the igniter switch was stuck and the tank could not be restarted.

How did it go? IT DID NOT GO. WE SENT THEM ON THEIR WAY. THE CALL TO CANCEL WAS NOT TRUE.NO ONE and I mean no one from this house called them to cancel, impossible, my daughter was at the doctors office and did not even know what company we called. THE PRICE GIVEN WAS CHANGED, THEY LOOKED (IN OUR OPINION) UPKEPT AND NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WOULD NEVER CALL THEM AGAIN
Description of Work: We expected them to arrive between 1 and 3 pm. They did not show up. We called and we were told that a young girl called in the morning and canceled the appt. This is impossible. No one knew what company we had called. My husband wasn't even home and I was sick in bed. They insisted that someone called. Second, we were told on the phone it was $109.00 an hour, since this was a simple plugged kitchen drain, (which we have had done before and it usually took about 40 min.) we said fine. After we called complaining that they did not show and we got the "story" about it being canceled. two men from Abbott plumbing, showed up and said the price would be $195.00 a two hour job.

I called and Dean Young came out. He discovered one of the problems was that the shower doors had been incorrectly installed. He must have spent two hours at the house trying to figure out what was leaking. He was so nice about it. He called someone to come out and fix the shower doors.

Had granite countertops installed in kitchen and needed the installations noted above. It took Abbott Plumbing 6 ½ man-hours to complete this work. The plumber spent one- half hour sitting in his truck, talking on the phone. The bill was over $1100......about $170/hour and that included a senior citizen discount, 10%. I complained that the bill was outrageous, but, paid it. Shortly after the plumber left, I noticed that the faucet pedestal was installed backwards and the gas cook top was improperly assembled. The plumber also left his work areas very dirty. I contacted Abbott Plumbing the following Monday and requested a different plumber to correct the installation errors made by the original employee. A "service supervisor" responded and made the necessary corrections. I complained to him about the outrageous bill and he assured me he would review the bill and talk to the owners. To date, I have not heard from Abbott Plumbing. I do NOT recommend this company to anyone.

Found water heater leaking at 2pm and placed a call to Abbott. Had seen their truck in neighborhood and had qualified them with Angie's. Got office and the said a tech would call. I received a call at 2:19pm and tech said he would be out shortly. Arrived a little before 3pm. Provide estimate and asked if I wanted Quick Response to check for water damage and I said OK. He called them and they arrive at 4pm and determined water damage was minimal and did not require their services. Doc the Abbott tech in the meantime went to pick up new water heater. He arrived back at house around 4:30pm. Took old water heater out and installed new one. Job complete by 6pm.

I let them know that we had just replaced the water heater 2 months before. This was the third replacement we had done and I told them that we suspected that the problem was with the drains rather than the water heater. The man I spoke with disagreed and told me that I just needed a higher quality water heater. 3 weeks later, however, the new water heater broke. He came out again and capped the drain (which he should have done in the first place) and put a new water heater in without charge. I was still upset about being led to purchase a new water heater initially that I didn't need, though, and called. It took him two weeks to get back with me. He said he would go out and take a look, and then backed out of that appointment, ultimately agreeing to give me $500 back. He did, then, resolve the issue, but I was certainly not happy with how it all went.

They did a pretty good job and they did a lot of work. I was very happy with their work. The guy showed up on time and had a helper with him to hand him the tools. He seemed interested in doing well. He had to go to several plumbing houses to try to find the diversion valve because apparently the original was an off brand. I thought the price was kind of costly, but I think it was worth the money.

They came out on a thanksgiving weekend. I was pretty surprised how quick, easy and inexpensive it was. They didn't hit me with a weekend fees or whatever. They took the old one away. It was pretty straight forward. I kind of expected them to approach me on the weekend. Their quality of work was good. They came out twice. On the thanksgiving weekend they installed the water heater but the shut off valve needed to be replaced too. They got the hot water heater running. They did not have the shut off valve in their truck so they told me they would bring the valve in the next week and fix it. I was okay with it but it was a $28 shut off valve and the total bill came up to $300 or $400. They charged me for the trip, soldering, welding and for lots of other work they did to fix the valve. The second bill was expensive. They were very professional.

Late in the day on 09/16/09, I had no choice but to call another plumber (sewage running down the dirveway is NOT a good thing). I explained the situation to him and in view of all that we were going through, the owner of that company volunteered to bring his camera out the following day. True to his word, the other plumbing company brought out their camera and was quickly able to identify the problem (a crack that was 42" in length). My husband was also present and stated to me that the camera used by the subsequent company produced a much clearer and concise picture. A that point, we hired the other company to repair the cracked pipe.
Description of Work: First contacted Abbott Plumbing on 07/23/09 because of a backed up sewer. They came out and power routed the line out and charged me $150.00. They also suggested that I remove a large bush that was near the clean-out as the roots could be causing a problem. I had the bush professionally removed on 07/29/09. Sewer backed up again on 08/02/09. Again, a plumber came out and power routed the line out and charged me $157.00. I expressed concern over the frequency and he suggested that I contact the office to following day. 08/03/09 I spoke directly to Mike Abbott, owner of Abbott Plumbing, to express my concerns about the ongoing problem. Mike suggested that he send a plumber out with the camera to see what all was going on with the pipe. He stated that the usual and customary charge was $250.00 but he would "work with me" because of my ongoing problem and charged me $110.00. At that time, the camera was put down the pipe and other than a few roots at the bottom of the pipe, the pipe (according to your plumber) was deemed to be in good condition. My husband was present and observed the camera down the line. 09/15/09 my sewer backed up AGAIN! I contacted the Abbott Plumbing at 8:30 a.m. and requested to speak to Mike Abbott. The dispather, who spoke to me as though she were an expert plumber, stated that your work is not generally warrated but took my name and number sot hat you could call me back and further talk about my situation. No call back on 09/15/09 or on 09/16/09.

I called Abbott Plumbing at 7:15am and told them what work I needed done. They said that their technician would arrive between 8:00 and 10:00. At 10:15 I called to find out if the technician was on his way, or running late. They were unable to reach him and wanted to know if I would like to reschedule for sometime in the afternoon. Since I had already spent the morning waiting, I didn't want to reschedule. They said they would attempt to reach him again and call me back. She also said that I was his 1st call and she was surprised he wasn't there. She called me back and said that he didn't check in with them this morning so he didn't know about the call, and that he was on his way. He also called me to let me know he was on his way, and I appreciated that. He arrived at approximately 11:00 and completed the work in about 20 minutes. He had all of the necessary parts on the truck. The fact that he was an hour late didn't bother me as much as the home office knowing that he had a scheduled call between 8 and 10, which apparently he didn't know about. Would I use this company again...no. Not because of the communication problem, I was surprised that the bill was for $165.00. The part was $65.00, and the labor was $110. They gave me a $10.00 discount for finding them on Angies list. I think that $110 for 20 minutes labor is high even for Las Vegas standards.

This was a great experience. I called Abbott Plumbing to fix a plugged toilet. They were able to schedule me for today. The repairman was able to come to my house 3 hours earlier than the estmated time. He checked out all of the drains in the house and ran a camera into the line to find out why things were clogging. He was professional, friendly, and explained everything. I watched the screen of the camera that was run down the drain line. I saw the problems in the pipes and know that everything that he suggested is really needed.
Description of Work: I have had plumbing prolblems for many years. Abbott Plumbing was called to fix a clogged toilet. Conditions encountered during unclogging indicated the probability of problems with the main drain line. A camera was run down the line from the house to the main line. The sewer pipe was separated in several places, mostly caused by intrusion of roots from a nearby palm tree. A repair to replace the sewer pipes will be scheduled for a later date.
