I will not do business with Chris Abbott in the future, and I recommend finding another installer for your home theater work. We painstakingly went over ceiling speaker placement with Chris Abbott. Then when they came to install the speakers, they were all put in different ceiling positions that what had specified. They also cut numerous holes in our ceiling to pull cable. Those extra holes cost us $50/hole to have the ceiling drywall patched and painted, and there were at least six. Abbott installed a standard 1080 HD system without a receiver that could support multiple 4K inputs and outputs. They said that the Samsung 4K television that we already owned was not 4K compatible because it was "too old", and that we needed to buy an Evolution box from Samsung to enable 4K. We confirmed that the TV was compatible with HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.1 and did not require any upgrades to support the latest 4K standard. Abbot had used the wrong HDMI input for the installation (HDMI1 instead of HDMI 3). The programming was incorrect. Although we installed 7 speakers and a subwoofer for 7.1 surround, the receiver was set to work only in 7-channel stereo and no surround. When surround sound was turned on, the multi-room stereo no longer functioned. We specified that we had wanted a flat mount that could pull out tilt and swivel so the kids could see the TV better from the floor or we could angle the TV to be seen from the kitchen. Instead they installed a fixed flat mount. Abbot put together a $750 change order to upgrade the receiver to 4K as originally specified and to change out the TV mount. This was on top of the $9000 we had already paid for the system and installation. When we went to schedule this change order, Chris Abbott told us that rather than fix our system, he was going to take the loss, and no longer do business with us. He said we could hire another installer to finish our system and hung up on us. He has not returned our calls since. We are not satisfied with the quality of the work or their unwillingness to correct their mistakes. They have left us with an incomplete installation that does not function as specified.

I initially called on 7/20 to schedule an appointment to get a quote for outdoor security camera installation. Barbara informed me that Chris was sick and I wouldn't be able to get to an appointment until Friday 7/24, fine no problem. Thursday afternoon rolls around and I get a call that Chris didn't realize he had a Dr.'s appointment so could I reschedule until Monday morning 7/27 8:00am, ok fine no problem. Monday 8:30am rolls around no one has shown up, no call, nothing. So I call and the office isn't open that early. I call again a little later, finally get Barbara on the phone again. Well I guess Chris has back pain today so he couldn't make it and decided just not to show up. No courtesy call, nothing. They asked if I could reschedule to Wednesday, sure. Oh but wait, he's got to be at a job Wed morning so it has to be in the afternoon. At that point I learned my lesson but my goodness, I can't imagine how someone operating their own business could have this level of respect (or lack thereof really) for their customers' time. It may a blessing in disguise but I can't imagine how you can stay in business like this.

Never heard back from Chris. After a couple of weeks my wife called to see why. receptionist indicated she would check with Chris and someone would get back to us. Now almost a month and no word. Can't be that hard to put a bid together or say they are not interested. I read similar comments on Angie's list before I called but decided to give it a try anyway. Should have listened to other customers feedback. No way of knowing if they are any good or not. I do know they are unreliable and unprofessional.
Description of Work: Chris came out to look at our built in sound system in the house we just purchased. Seller did not leave amplifiers etc to power the system so we needed new equipment. There are 4 zones inside the house plus speakers outside. He was very pleasent and knowledgable so we were looking forward to getting the system up and working. chris promised us he would email us a bid.

I received the referral to them from a designer I am using and found here on Angie's list. The scope of work would have been wiring, speaker installation, mounting of T.V. on wall adding in ceiling speakers and rerouting electric and cables in wall. Cliff Abbott and Darlene came to give us a Quote. They were very professional, so we let them we would like to work with them. That's where it stops....I have called, left messages and emailed to set up times... We waited as I thought they were busy. Called again left more emails and NOTHING. Not even the courtesy to call and say "Were not interested in your $2000.00 job." We are now a week behind but have found a different contractor. I will be reviewing them as well.

I was extremely disenchanted with this company. The gentleman that came out to my house was very pleasant and businesslike, and assured me that I would be given a written estimate on "all" costs involved through email. I did get my email, however, it listed the total price on the reference line with nothing else in the body of the email. No description, no itemized ANYTHING. I felt that they did not want my business or that I could afford their services so I went with another company. Since I don't know exactly what equipment and installation was included in their (Abbots) estimate, I can't say for sure, however, but based on what I ended up getting thru the other company, Abbots price was higher.

Professionally handled from my initial contact to scheduling, and excellent work in doing the installation.
Description of Work: I have a complicated home theater arrangement that I bought 10 years ago from Abbott. I just bought a replacement receiver and hired Abbott to install it and make it work with the other hardware. They did an excellent, professional, perfect job that I could not have done myself.

Description of Work: My TV in bedroom was not getting correct color so I called Abbott and they said a service call would be $125. We made an appointment and service man arrived and as it turned out, I had not plugged in all the terminals. He said, "You didn't plug in all the way". He said "Since I have to charge you a service call, is there anything else I can help you with?". I said "Yes, take a look at old TV in the livingroom which was showing yellow". I said "The person who gave me this TV said that he had replaced the bulb" I asked the serviceman if that was replaced, what now?" He explained that it wasn't worth fixing what the blub went into and that it was an old TV and not worth working on. I agreed and picked up a new TV for the livingroom.

They got it done for a very reasonable price, and we are very happy with them right now. I would like people to know about the prompt, affordable service that we got from them. I had taken the remote there yesterday, they called me back first thing this morning and told me that they didn’t have to send it in, it was already repaired, and that I could go and pick it up. The help I received from them was friendly, prompt and affordable. Their office is beautiful, and it is in a new central location. It is in what used to be a marble showroom, so they have these beautiful marble walls and floors. Going there is a very nice experience. I cannot rate the quality of their work, because I haven’t yet gone and picked up the remote, but they told us that it is working fine.
Description of Work: I took our Crestron control panel to Abbott’s Audio & Video for repair. It is a high end remote control for our TV, sound system, and sometimes it does a lot more in the room. One of the kids dropped it, and I took it in for repair. Instead of sending it to Crestron and make us wait for the factory to fix it, they were able to fix it on premises.

Mr. Abbott and his general contractor came out to my home, and spent over an hour evaluating my room, and my preferences for conversion of my large bonus room to a home theater. as well as evaluating all the necessary equipment, making recommendations, and measuring the room. He was prompt, courteous, and professional. Later Mr. Abbott reviewed a competitors bid, I am sure taking hours, for whole house automation, and provided a very competitive bid (actually cheaper) in a very timely manner. This is a very strange review in that Mr. Abbott did not get the job, but yet I have absolute confidence that Mr. Abbott is professional, and would have done a great job. His competitor had submitted his bid before Mr. Abbott and thus I had alot more communication with the competitor and thus decided to go with Mr. Abbotts competition. In fact I spoke with Mr. Abbott, and told him my truthful opinion that I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the service he provided, and would absolutely not hesitate to use him in the future for any home theater design or equipment needs that I had, and based on my experience recommend him without reservation.
Description of Work: Mr. Abbott came out to my house and evaluated my bonus room for conversion to a dedicated home theater, mounting of an outdoor TV, recommendation of all equipment, and automation of the home theater. He also later bid on Automation of my entire home, pool/spa equipment, irrigation system, installation of a security camera system, surround sound system, automated thermostats. Basically the whole nine yards in totally automating my home.

This home entertainment system was also installed by Abbott's, and is quite impressive. We are not sure if we were using it wrong, but they came over the day after we called, and repaired everything. They even did some taping of their own to make sure it was operating properly. The technician explained what was wrong, and gave us some pointers on how to use it.
Description of Work: Abbott's Audio & Video repaired our VCR. It would not tape by the timer. They had to replace a part in the VCR and also some cable for the TV- VCR connection..
