Overall, the job was a terrible experience. We thought we were dealing with a reliable source and it turned into a nasty experience with an unreliable contractor. His work was slip-shod and his method of installation was sub-standard. There was no reason for his arrogant attitude. The iceing on the cake was that he is a liar and is deceitful. I would caution everyone not to do business with Sun Off/Ben Shimon. He has not returned our $300 deposit and is a thief.
Description of Work: My husband and I contacted this person, ben Shimon, for solar screens on our windows. We initially found him through Craig's List and then went to his website for more information. Everything seemed to be professional and it all looked good. ben Shimons's estimate was lower than the others we had and we contracted with him to do the job because the product he showed us was what our expectations were . We had seven (7) windows that needed to be covered and at that time, gave him a deposit (by check) of $300. When he arrived with the screens about a week later and started to install them, when he drilled throught the stucco and block, it was obvious there was a problem. He was using the incorrect method to drill and pieces of stucco were flying off and the holes were bigger than what should have been to simply screw the screen on to the house. One of our windows had the half-moon shape over the square window and was one window. We could not believe the way he made this screen. He had screws on the outside of two separate screens to hold them together. At that point, my husband told him to stop and to redo that particular screen. ben Shimon then became nasty and very arrogant. He took all of the screens and threw them in his truck. When we asked him about our $300.00 deposit, he told us he would send it to us in about a week. Two weeks later I called him and asked him about the deposit money. He said he had to talk to his partner (he does not have a partner!). I called him again a couple of weeks later and his voice mail picked up. I hung up and called him from a different phone number and he answered. He told me that when he could use our screens on another job he would refund our deposit. I contacted the Better Business Bureau with my complaint. He is not a member, by the way. The BBB sent him my complaint for him to respond and ben Shimon never did. To date, months later, we have not received our deposit money . We paid a handyman $100 to repair the stucco and to paint and then went to Bugsy's Blinds for the solar screens and they did a perfect job.

I spent $1650 on that service. They were very punctual and they came out to give me an estimate and they were willing to negotiate the price. The owner was super friendly gentleman and is really an army guy. He did all the installation himself in just a few hours one morning. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I used A Sun Off Llc in August and they provided windows sunshades on all the windows around the entire house.
