To start off with the good, the outside painting of the house looks terrific. The problems with the painting that I experienced were with the prep and cleanup. When the house was power washed prior to painting, the windows were not covered which resulted in the dirt on the house above the windows ending up on the windows. When the painting was finished I had to spend time picking up numerous scraps of leftover masking tape from all around the perimeter of the house and having the windows washed. The repair and recoating of the pool "cool" deck was a disaster. I had chipping/flaking of the "cool" deck on about 1/3 of the deck and some areas of the coping. The loose areas of the "cool" deck were removed ( but not sanded ) in order to leave only the bonded areas. The areas that were repaired did not use a "cool" deck type material, but instead used a quick dry cement material. This quick dry cement material obviously did not match the knockdown texture of the "cool" deck. Instead it resulted in a texture that was very much like the stucco texture on the house ( I tried walking barefoot on it and it felt like I was walking on pins and needles). The solvent base topcoating applied over the deck and repairs seems to be a good product. It did not cover the obvious texture differences between the repaired and original decking. When I pointed this out they responded quickly by obtaining some more topcoating and putting a second coat over the repaired areas. Slightly better looking but still an observable texture difference and still have "pins and needles" when walking on repaired areas barefoot. The prep and cleanup were even worse that that of the house. When it was finished, I noticed that there were large strings and slicks of the solvent based topcoat floating on the pool surface. I had to clean these up in order to prevent them from plugging up my strainer baskets and pool cartridge filter. Also noticed a lot of chipped off "cool" deck material in the bottom of the pool. Lastly I ended up picking up both chipped off "cool" deck material and masking tape scraps from my lawn around the pool. I think that my biggest complaint other than poor prep and cleanup would be that I think that the "cool" deck patching material used was the incorrect material to use in this repair.

The painting was fine, but they did damage to the interior wood. I had him paint the exterior 5 years ago and it looks fine, so I hired him t paint the interior. Inside they damaged the wood by using masking tape to hold the protective plastic.. Now I must find someone to make repairs and hope they do well. My recommendation is do NOT hire Keith to paint the interior of your home. Damage is virtually inevitable.

Response from A. Keith Painting
First off we didn’t paint this house or do this job. Secondly, We value our reputation on Angie’s List and would like to share that the photos attached by this member represent the scratches from something and the deadbolt enclosure is missing a deadbolt . This does not appear to be damages caused by taping for any painting purposes. There’s no way for tape to gouge, scratch or chip wood. Please see our other reviews for an accurate representation of our performance And our customers.
