5 Star Home Services, Inc. was sent to our home on 7/27/24 for a service call through Fidelity National Home Warranty to fix our A/C. (We had to wait 2 days for this visit) When the technician arrived, we informed him that we had just had another A/C company diagnose the issue, but had decided to utilize the home warranty, and informed him that the other A/C company had found an issue with the coils in the attic. The 5 Star Home Services technician didn’t go into the attic at all and said he had found the issue on one of the outdoor units and ‘fixed’ the problem. Two days later, our A/C isn’t working again. Fidelity National Home Warranty dispatches 5 Star Home Services for a second visit. This time, we had to wait 4 or 5 days for the second service call, due to a ‘scheduling confusion’ by 5 Star. The second service call happens on 8/7 and once again, the technician doesn’t go into the attic after reminding him again of the initial findings, and does some sort of ‘repair’ on the outdoor unit, indicating he had used a dye which would make the issue easier to diagnose should they need to come out again. On 8/13, our A/C isn’t working again. We call Fidelity National and they inform us they cannot dispatch 5 Star because paperwork has not been submitted by 5 Star from our visit on 8/7. They attempt to call 5 Star but this was just after 4:30 pm and the business was closed. Fidelity National asked us to call again the next morning so they could call 5 Star to request paperwork to then dispatch them for a third visit. We call the next morning, Fidelity is now able to get the documentation from 5 Star, - A WEEK AFTER THE SERVICE CALL - and we are told to expect a call from 5 Star for scheduling. Later in the day, we receive a call from Fidelity to say that 5 Star has indicated they had done their due diligence, and the air conditioning system was deemed as working upon the second visit, and 5 Star would not be coming for a third time. Meanwhile, our air conditioning system is not working. I’m left speechless at both 5 Star and Fidelity National Home Warranty. When I set my air on 76 degrees, and it climbs to 83 degrees, NEVER cooling in temperature AT ALL – not by even 1 degree, I’m unclear as to how that is a working air conditioning system. Thanks for nothing, 5 Star. You provided a horrible and HOT experience all the way around.

My sink was leaking in my kitchen. Leaks are 100% covered by home warranty. The plumber arrived. Checked my sink. Told me he had the parts to fix it in his van. Then told me that he needed an extra $350 on top of the home warranty deductible I had already paid. He attempted to claim a strainer was missing and hence my leak. Not a seal, not an o-ring, not a hole worn by vibration of the garbage disposal, but a strainer. I've fixed helicopters for 16 years. Strainers don't cause leaks from garbage disposals. I paid to have leaky pipes fixed. I was told they couldn't do it because of a missing strainer.... which he had all the parts for. None of it made sense except that they got their money and I lost my money. They take home warranty claims for the quick cash, but they don't actually do home warranty work. They just tell you that whatever it is isn't covered so they can get more of your money. Be careful with these folks. I could see them easily leading an unaware customer dig themselves into a unnecessary financial hole. A customer service woman called me after the incident to "try to make it right" but when I attempted to discuss a leak due to a strainer occurring 18 months after install she said she wasn't a plumber. Well guess what. I AM! I may not have a plumber license, but I do have a home warranty, and I still know how to fix my own stuff. I'm just disabled so I prefer to carry home warranty coverage and not challenge my health problems. I'll just do the repair myself now. What a joke! Wanna know the horrible part? I picked these guys myself from a list of contractors. I judged a book by it's cover because of their name "5 Star" and this is what I got.... a big ole 1 star worth of service. I’m

My AC stopped cooling. Called 5 Star. They had a technician out quickly and they corrected the issue in a very short time. They are responsive and very knowledgable. I have lived in Las Vegas for more than 40 years and I've used many different HVAC companies over the years. By far, 5 Star has provided me with the best service at affordable rates. I have great confidence in their company and the technicians that respond. Their office scheduled my request quickly and efficiently. They were courteous and seemed genuinely concerned. Thank you 5 Star Home Services! 5 Star is now my HVAC company of choice.

Gary came out from 5 Star Home Services, confirmed the cause of the problem and returned with the correct part and completed the repair.. He was also extremely helpful in explaining the problem and made sure I was satisfied and asked if there was any additional questions or concerns I had. He was very personable and professional, The price was extremely reasonable. I would highly recommend this company and would use them again if and when needed.

They didn't show up the first three times they were supposed to. When they did finally show up their truck leaked oil into my driveway, they left a mess underneath the attic access and they misdiagnosed the problem. They returned once, with the wrong part, said that they would have to order a new part and I never saw them again. The worst!!!!

How do you think?
Description of Work: Avoid, avoid, AVOID this company. (Did I mention avoiding it?) To replace my leaking water heater, which goes every 4 years, 5 Star wanted to charge $300 on top of replacing my water heater. That's because the replacement required the removal and re-installation of a water recirculation pump that wouldn’t even get replaced. Fidelity National Home Warranty told me this cost was not included in my contract, even though this same pump was removed and replaced at no charge the three other times my heater went out. After crying foul to 5 Star, I was told that the owner, Moshe, agreed to charge "only" $240 for the 11 minutes of extra work and I was treated like I owed them a huge thank-you. I can’t see recommending this company for any service other than emptying your bank account.

Response from 5 STAR HOME SERVICES INC
Thank you for the opportunity to deliver on our promises and allow you to experience the benefits of working with 5 Star Home Services Inc. It is our goal to not only meet your expectations, but to exceed them. It is unfortunate, that you're unhappy with our service. We couldn't have replaced the water heater with the re-circulation pump still intact. The price, that was quoted to your warranty company, was $120 for T&P valve and line modification, and $180 for the re-circulation pump removal and re-installation, which was discounted to $120. But it wasn't covered by your contract, which is why you had to pay out of pocket. These are industry standard prices, vetted by your warranty company. We pride ourselves with our dedication to our customers, and the individual approach we take for each and every person. Please feel free to contact us at 702-998-9090, to see if we can correct the unpleasant experience you had.

I lost my air conditioning very late on a VERY warm (about 110 degrees) Sunday afternoon due to a pinhole leak in one of the lines about which I knew. I knew it was a matter of time until I would need to get it fixed. I started calling around, described my problem in detail (told them exactly what was wrong and where). The LOWEST price I could get on the phone was around $2000, and they wouldn't be able to fix it for a day or so, which was NOT acceptable. I somehow stumbled over 5 Star and called. I talked with Armen (maybe spelled incorrectly) who said he'd call me back, which he did in about 15 minutes. He said he could come within 20 minutes, and, if it was what I said it was, there would be a small charge for vacuuming down the lines, repairing the leak, and he'd charge me only $35 per pound of refrigerant - and I could WATCH the scale on which the tank was set. He showed up in about 15 minutes. He was clean, starched shirt, friendly, and in a SPOTLESS service van. He agreed with me regarding the problem and set to work immediately. He was focused, but very friendly. He was done within about 45 minutes, checked everything for proper operation (when he checked the output temperature at a register, it was blowing colder than when the unit was BRAND NEW), and handed me a bill for slightly less than $400 - about $1600 cheaper, and at LEAST 24 hours FASTER than ANYONE else was willing to do. GREAT guy. I would use him again, and often recommend him to anyone who's looking for a really good air conditioning man. He's a saint among demons.

Their customer service was great. They were out the next morning as promised to my rental. The tech took the time to diagnose, repair and explain not only the problem but maintenance to my tenants. It was one very very hot day and they saved the day. I will definitely refer this company to others and will use them if needed. Thank you again for great job. Oh by the way, would love to see this outfit offer rental portable a/c units for rental for need in case a quick fix can't be done. Thank you.
Description of Work: Replaced a part to a/c and got the unit working. Great job.
