Description of Work: Lake Tahoe had a HUGE snowfall over Christmas and with 2+ feet on my deck and parking area, I just didn't feel I could do it myself at my age (72). Finding the business card of Anselmo Palma, owner of Palma Maintenance in my door I called with not much hope because of the season and the similar need of everyone else around here, but I got right through, didn't have to leave a message, and Anselmo made an appointment to come out and give me an estimate. About an hour and half later he was here. (He had said half an hour, which is why I give a "B" for punctuality for accuracy's sake; but in fairness, I have no doubt that had he been less busy and roads less slick he would have made it on time). He was ready to do the work with the two workers and machinery he brought, and after giving me an estimate of between $125-150 depending on the time, I gave the go-ahead, and a couple hours later it was done completely. I asked how much, he thought awhile and then said $80. My eyebrows went up and he asked anxiously: "too much?" "Not even" I replied with a smile, and added another $40 as a tip for work so professionally and thoroughly and TIMELY done. Anselmo used to work for others but realized he was getting nowhere, so slowly began building his business as he also is putting his two very intelligent, hard-working sons through school (one of them was a crew member for my work). He spent almost $10,000 for a snow blade for his heavy truck, and had top-of-the-line snow blowing equipment as well. Plus the hard human work of shoveling. He is saving for a $15,000 rotating blower attachment for the truck to speed up his work even more.
