No contact from vendor; this market 89447 is hugely underserved by Home Advisor and similar companies; virtually no vendors respond to requests for professional help due to distance to 89447 from larger cities. I do not understand why there isn't a policy to upcharge for the additional distance, which I'd be willing to pay for up front if required to get an estimate, if the amount paid could be subtracted from the ultimate total if the vendor does the work for which they provided an estimate. There may be other aspects and other considerations, and they could be built into the cost of services provided, if the vendors would only respond. To be relegated to only local professionals is not always satisfactory due to cost (too little competition) and availability of service (too much lead time). Thanks

Electrician followed troubleshooting logic by checking power at the main electrical service panel, tightening up any loose wires. Then he followed switch logic and proved that power at switching was perfect. Then he moved to switch leg and found 2 ceiling can light fixtures with faulty factory connectors. He replaced connectors in 7 cans and restored power. Repair required entry into the attic space and took about 4 1/2 hours. All lights now operating properly. Electrician was very knowledgeable, professional and courteous taking time to explain his work.

Excellent. The electrician, was on time, very pleasant, helpful and polite. The house was spotless when the job was completed. Tom Sarnelli is an ethical and honest businessman and we trust him with our safety and will be contacting him in the future for all of our electrical needs. Highly recommended!

We are very sorry that our technician did not meet your expectations. We strive to make ALL of customers happy, but sometimes we come up short in our heartfelt endeavors - after all, we are human beings as well. We spoke to the technician that did this work, and he said that you gave him a $20.00 tip. Which would be indicative that you were happy with the work he performed. In the future, please feel free to contact us if you have ANY problems with our field staff and we will do whatever we can reasonably do to meet your expectations.

The electrical outlets are working; I could have taken care of them myself if I had known that all I had to do was press a small button.
Description of Work: My electrical outlet in the kitchen was not working, so I went to Angie's List and hired Southwest Electric who had an ad to inspect electrical systems for $79. When they checked, they advised me they had located the problem and it would cost me $50 to have it taken care of; that the $79 was merely for the inspection.....if anything else had to be done, it was another $50. After I paid the $50.....one minute later I found out that the only thing that was done was to press a button, which I was not aware of. Had I been aware of the function of that simple little button that was just sitting there, I would have been able to get the system working again. It took the serviceman about 3 minutes to push buttons in 3 rooms......and they forced me to pay them another $50. This was totally without principal, and I am shocked that they have a place on Angie's List!

While we appreciate the fact that you think and or believe that you were "ripped off," please know that it costs us a lot of money to send an electrician out to your house. We have to not only pay for his salary, worker's comp. insurance, payroll taxes, gasoline for the vehicle he drives, insurance and registration on the trucks, maintenance, business insurance, licensing fees, and other government imposed fees in order to keep our doors open. On top of all that, we need to make a profit to stay in business. Apparently, you don't understand these facts. Obviously, you have never ran a business or had to meet a payroll. Otherwise, your "lose" would be understandable by you. No one from SOUTHWEST Electric "forced" you to pay anything. You paid for a service that we provided - that is it. Plain and simple. The fact that you did not have the knowledge or experience to troubleshoot your own electrical issues, is immaterial. You paid for our knowledge and experience. And, at $129.00, believe me, we did not make whole lot after expenses. In fact, that barley covers our direct costs. There are other electrical contractors in this town that charge in excess of $500 for the same work we did for you - and you got only charged $129.00. My suggestion is this, next time you have an electrical problem, call around and get estimates over the phone - and you will see that our rates are very reasonable.

Work was performed. No consideration or respect for home. Didn't forewarn me before creating a huge mess of wood shavings and other debri from working up in ceiling. He could have given me the chance to spread plastic but didn't. I have all new carpet, the dust, wood chips, ceiling material and pieces of insulation were all over everything. The company itself provided good service as far as contacting me right away and setting up the appointment I needed. Just didn't care for the attitude of the electrician or the mess he left. I paid $160 for two hours, pretty pricey for a sarcastic attitude and a mess. He did install the four hall lights as I wanted. But, I went upstairs to check progress on the two hall lights being installed and he had just finished installing the one in the picture and as you can see he installed it offset from the opening from the old recessed light stating that there wasn't enough length of wire left by original electrician (1975). Well, I can understand that, but isn't that something you determine before you move forward and install a light and leave a big hole in one's ceiling???? When I saw it, he was rude and said "you wanted the light installed, I guess you have some drywall repair to do" One more thing. I have 3 small dogs, and I had to constantly follow behind him and close the man door to the garage as he was going in and out and kept leaving it open!!!! The automatic garage door was up so he had access to his truck. Again, no respect. The more I think about it the madder I get, so I will just stop.

There is an old saying that goes: "You get what you pay for." This is the quintessential example of just that. The fees you paid for the work that was done, was not only cheap, but an outright give away. The electrician that we sent out gets paid very well by the hour, and we expect him to move fast and get the work completed in a safe, and code compliant manner. It is not his responsibility to keep track your animals and make sure that they don't run out on the street. We are not there to baby sit your animals. Moreover, your house is very old and in dire need of major renovations and upgrades. We can only do what we can with the limited time you paid for. This service under normal circumstances, would have costs three or four times as much as what you paid. But, you got a very good deal for the services we provided. I suggest that next time you should get multiple bids from licensed contractors before complaining about how dissatisfied you were after spending $181.00 for OVER two (2) hours of work plus materials from our company. And just so you know, the electrician that went to your house gets paid very well and we not only pay for his salary, worker's comp. insurance, payroll taxes, gasoline for the vehicle he drives, insurance and registration on the trucks, maintenance, business insurance, licensing fees, and other government imposed fees in order to keep our doors open - we need to make a profit to stay in business. Apparently, you don't understand these facts. Obviously, you have never ran a business or had to meet a payroll. Otherwise, you would be understandable as into why this project went the direction it did.

I wasn't able to make the appointment myself so I asked my daughter to be there for me. I was told the electrician who came to my house was polite and got right down to business. Within a few minutes he diagnosed the box and asked about any concerns about the rest of the house. The solution was telling her how to fix the other issues. He also pointed out a problem which needed to be repaired but never offered to make an appointment to come back. The gentleman also stated that a diagnostic email would be sent which was never received. It's been over a month since the appointment and still no email. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of follow up.

Thank you for contacting us. Southwest Electric was in communication with you every step of the way on this project and we let you know exactly the steps that were needed in order to complete this project. We are very sorry that you were not satisfied with the end result, although, we did everything we could to minimize the impact on this job. We even provided you with the contact information for the electrical utility company in case there was a delay in getting the electrical service turned back on. Our technicians were instructed to clean up the entire job site and explained to the customer all of what was done on behalf of the customer. Southwest electric even closed the stucco walls on the exterior of the house and on the interior of the garage. This is something that is normally done by another contractor licensed to do this work, but as a courtesy we closed the walls on the outside and the inside so as to minimize future costs to get this portion done for this job. Also, the way the wires and final terminations were completed, was to a very high standard that is normally done for commercial projects only. Yes, there was a financial balance due at the end of the job for the agreed upon additional work, but clearly, Southwest electric delivered a finish product that is second to none. Also, we expect to get paid upon completion of a job for additional work. Not only did we show up on the scheduled date, and completed everything that was agreed too, but we also coordinated all of the electrical utility companies, the city inspectors, the planning and building division for the electrical permits and technicians to flawlessly finish this project. All of this being said, we are very confused as into why we got such a bad grade from you. We would have appreciated any concerns, or dissatisfaction to be expressed to us the day we were on the job. However, no one expressed any discontent to our technicians on the day we were at your home. Moreover, according to our technicians, the home owners appeared to be happy and satisfied. Nothing was ever mentioned about any dissatisfaction. Please feel free to contact us to further discuss this matter and hopefully we can come to a more amicable resolution so you are not so unhappy with our work. Because as stated above, we believe we did everything right to make sure that customer was indeed, satisfied. Thus, this very bad grade and disingenuous summation of our professionalism is not only unfair, but completely unjust. We would like to know how and where we failed you on this project. Thank you for having given us the opportunity to work for you.

[Member Name Removed]: We regret to hear that you were not satisfied with out services. The reason why the installer had a four foot ladder with him, was because in most circumstances when installing these holiday lights, that's all we need. We would have been very happy to send him out with a taller ladder if we had known one would be needed. However, since no one contacted our office indicating that a taller ladder was necessary, we assumed this was just another standard installation. Also, when we book our appointments, its generally a window of when we will be there. For example, if we say 8:00a.m. to 10:00a.m. it means we will be there BETWEEN the hours of 8:00a.m. and 10:00a.m. Not that we will be exactly there at 8:00a.m. There are things we cannot control, like traffic, going over our allotted time on another job, etc. Thus, we cannot commit to be on a job on an exact hour. You also pointed out that we were in constant communication with you. Which is something we do with all of our customers. Which is why we are surprised that we were not contacted by either you or the installer to let us know that a bigger ladder was needed. Lastly, you gave us a bad mark / grade on the installation of the work. Our installers ONLY put up the lights as per the direction of the customer. If there was an issue with how the lights were supposed to be installed, these concerns should have been addressed with our office or the technician on the job. Again, I apologize about the dissatisfaction and would welcome your feedback at the office if you care to discuss the matter any further.

The provider said that we had to have a contractor to do some work before he could complete his job and he recommended someone. Mr. Sarnelli partially installed the lighting and then we had to wait for the contractor. His job was completed in a timely manner and it looks nice. Our only complaint is that, while going into the attic to run wiring, one of his helpers allowed a lot of the insulation to escape into a walk-in closet. We had to completely empty the closet and clean everything. Mr. Sarnelli apologized and gave us two extra bulbs.

Hi [Member name removed]: Thank you for have given us the opportunity to work for you and your husband [Member name removed]. We truly appreciated the business and we look forward to serving you in the future again should you need to call upon us. I apologize again, about the insulation falling out of the attic and into your closet. However, as we have indicated before, I was not aware of this problem. If we had known about it, we certainly would have taken the appropriate steps to cure this problem. On a more positive note, I am glad to hear that you are happy with your new L.E.D. recessed lights in your kitchen. These lights will last you for many years to come and you won't have to worry about changing the bulbs for many more years. Thank you again for the business, and again we do sincerely apologize about the insulation falling out of the attic and into your closet. Next time we will triple check to make sure this does not happen again. -Tom Sarnelli

Our new (old) home in Las Vegas needed some significant lighting and wiring upgrades so we asked our general contrator/handyman if he knew of a good Electrician. Without hesitating, he referred us to Tom Sarnelli at Southwest Electric and Solar. "Tom is the best electrician in town," he noted. "You won't find anyone better." With that strong recommendation we called Tom and had him come out to give us an estimate. Tom reviewed what we needed done, made some recommendations on how to best proceed, and gave us a very reasonable estimate. We hired him on the spot and he started the work almost immediately. In just a few days he completely prepped our home for two new audio/video systems, installed multiple ceiling fans, and upgraded several fixtures. He also worked directly with our video installer to ensure he was putting outlets and junction boxes in the right places. Put simply, his work was outstanding. We were so pleased we had him come back and install a dozen new ceiling lights in our family room and master bedroom. He even called us back one evening at 1000 pm to help us troubleshoot an air conditioner thermostat problem. Both my wife and I were impressed by the quality of Tom's work, his professionalism, organization, and customer service. Looking back, our general contractor was right. Tom is the best, and we strongly recommend him for all of your household or business electrical work. Give him a call at Southwest Electric and Solar.
