It is an agency that moves seniors from homes to assisted livings and other homes like that. I have a very negative experience with them. My parents moved from a home last September into an assisted living facility. Then they moved from where they were to another assisted living on the 9th of April. Smooth Transitions are contracted with the new assisted living facility my parents were moving into. If my parents used them, they would get a credit on their rent. So that’s how they set it up and they pretty much have a monopoly. It’s even more challenging when an 80-year-old and an 86-year-old move. We thought that this would be fine. They were supposed to take photographs of the apartment where they were and replicate it. They were supposed to make drawings with the floor plan on where things should go and then consult with my parents about the design. Then they had to pack up everything on one day and move everything on another day. My father is a retired engineer and he is very detail oriented. He actually did all the planning himself. However, Smooth Transitions which is owned by a woman named Francine Fields and her husband Steve never once brought plans over to my parents. That was the first thing that was very disheartening. The second thing was that I live here in Henderson, NV; my parents live in Henderson and my brother lives in Colorado. There was some mix up and I don’t know if my father misunderstood or The Fields who misunderstood. Originally, my dad thought that they were going to move on April 9th and The Fields had it set up for April 8th. However, that wasn’t going to work out for me at all because I wanted to be there and I had an important meeting on the 7th. I couldn’t be there when the packing was going to be done. I spoke to one of the owners and he was going out of town. So, I asked my brother since he had already talked to them about something to see if they could switch to what my dad thought it was to move on the 9th of April. However, my brother did that. I had no idea what time they were planning to be at the house on April 8th. Then my dad called them, but they never responded to his call. I called on Thursday the 7th at 7 o’clock at night and left a message because they hadn’t responded to my father and left a message because they didn’t pick up the phone. I asked what time they planned to be at my parents’ apartment to pack it up on Friday the 8th, but didn’t hear anything. On Friday at 6:30 in the morning, I called the number again since I had a recording and I asked what time they planned to be at the apartment. After I hung up, my phone rang right back with that number I called and it was Francine Fields who was screaming at me. Her scream was quite distressing as well. She asked me as to why I was calling her at 6:30 in the morning. I then told her that I wanted to know what time they were going to be there since she never responded to my brother or my father. She then said that they would be there at 9 o’clock and I hung up. Then I got a call about an hour later from her husband Steve who asked me when I planned to be at my parents’ house because my parents had to re-sign the contract. The original contract that my dad had signed was to move on the 9th and now it was going to be the 8th, 9th and 10th. So, I told him that I would be there at 8:30 and he said that he would meet me there. He did meet me and as a matter of fact, we walked in at the same time. We were up in my parents’ apartment and he said that he was going to the dentist since he had problems with his teeth. He also said that he would be back to take photographs of the pictures of the wall so that they could replicate the structure of the pictures that were hanging in the new apartment. I then gave him my cell phone number so that he could call me when he would be back or when he would be over to my parents’ house. I was going to go to the new apartment and wait for the cable person to come and put all the connections in for the phone, the computer and the television. Another fellow named Aaron, who works for them came in and we knew Aaron because he actually was the person who did the move when my parents moved initially in September. He also had two women with him who were going to do all the packing. He is fabulous and does a wonderful job. However, Steve never showed up and never called me. Aaron ended up taking the photographs of the wall for the pictures with his cell phone. That was on Friday and on Saturday Aaron met us at the old apartment at 8:30 with the moving van to move my folks. He then came back to the apartment on Sunday to hang some pictures that hadn’t gotten hanged. He is really a terrific guy and never once did my folks get a call or a visit from Steve or Francine Fields who own this company. Their behavior was outrageous and they were horrible. My parents have moved in now. People are given a rental credit by the facility where my parents are now when they use Smooth Transitions. They charge an hourly rate and that is how the contract was written. They thought that it would be a certain number of hours and what it would be. The total that they projected was going to be about $3000. Aaron was wonderful and great, but not Smooth Transitions. They were very rude and obnoxious. I would never use their services again in the future. Even if there was rental custody, I would pay more to not use them again.
