Description of Work: They helped me recover some files on a hard drive rescued from my old computer which gave out. I switched from an HP to a Mac, so most files were unreadable. One of the techs saved some email files and contact addresses. I had hoped to recover some data that have been accumulated and saved over the last 10 years. But they seem to be gone. So sad.

They said they currently charged more than the $99 flat indicated on Angie's list but they honored the lower Angie's list price anyway. (Good for them.) The repair was fine though it took a couple of days longer than I expected. I will gladly use them again if and when the occasion arises.

Last weekend my computer stopped working and I was told by computer repair dept. in a large electronics store that the mother board had gone bad. I decided to purchase a new computer instead of trying to repair old one. I needed to have data transferred from old hard drive to an external hard drive. I was told by one store it would take 3-6 days to transfer data and by another store that they could do it in 2 days. I called Simple Computer Repair and was told I could get the transfer done that day. I took my old computer tower and my external hard drive to Simple Computer Repair and they completed the work and had it ready to pick up in 2 hours. The cost was very reasonable - $50 less than the store that said it would take 2 days and the same price as the store that said it would take 3-6 days. The tech was very helpful and walked me through the steps to access the files I was most concerned about. I will definitely use Simple Computer Repair again and will recommend it to others needing computer repair.
Description of Work: The mother board on my old computer had crashed and I needed to have the information on my hard drive removed and transferred to an external hard drive.

They did not have to purchase any parts or anything. I had screwed it up and they were able to unscrew it. I would recommend them to others. I felt their price was fair. They were able to solve my problem. I will use them again.

My desktop computer quite working, so I took it to Simple Computer Repair. They told me they would get back to me within 24 hours to let me know if they could fix it or determine what was wrong. They called back within the 24 hours and said that the internal hard drive was shot and it needed to be replaced. They then quoted $99.00 to replace the hard drive or I could go to Fry's Electronics and get a hard drive cheaper and they would install it (their recommending buying the hard drive somewhere else impressed me). The hard drive at Fry's was $64.99 plus tax, so I bought it and took it back to Simple Computer Repair and they removed the old hard drive and put in the new one. I did not elect to have any of my data on the old hard drive transferred over as I had copied previously everything that I may need. When I got home I couldn't get the computer to connect to my wireless router, so I took it back to Simple Computer Repair and they corrected the problem. at no additional cost. I paid Simple Computer Repair $99.00 and the router cost $70.25 for a total of $169.25 and now have basically a new computer. I definitely recommend Simple Computer Repair. They are honest and know what they are doing.

I first turned to the yellow pages to get ideas of computer repair places, and found myself overwhelmed by the quantity of listings with no clue who to go with. I tried Angie's List; although Simple Computer Repair was not rated, at least a basic explanation of their services and charges was provided. I called Friday morning (2/25/11) and described my problem. They offered either their we-come-to-you service ($149) or bring it to us service ($99). I opted to take it in that afternoon. Logan Smith was the salesperson/technician that assisted me. He connected my CPU while I waited to make sure the same problem existed there; indeed, it did. He said that he'd seen that particular virus before. Logan walked me through exactly what Simple Computer would do. Rather than wait for their diagnosis before proceeding with repairs, I opted for the option of paying for them to go ahead and fix it. They guarantee to start the diagnosis within 24 hours (Sundays excluded) of when you drop it off. Although I had given Logan my work number as well as my home number, when I got home from work on Monday (2/28/11) there was a message from Logan saying that my computer repairs had been completed and I could pick it up during their work hours of 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. I was running a bit late on Tuesday (3/1/11) so called ahead to see if someone would be able to stay in case I was a few minutes after 6 p.m. They indicated that they would be able to have someone there, as they would be paperwork and other things that needed to be done. When I arrived, things were very busy! Medina helped me initially, taking the time to reconnect my computer to verify that the repairs had been completed. That was a quick way for me - the customer - to know it was OK before getting it home to find that it had not been. Medina even took the extra time to verify that I could connect to the Internet. When doing so, we discovered there was a problem with doing that. At that point, Logan Smith took over as he had completed the repairs. After trying a couple of different things, including switching out to different network cords and a couple of restarts, we were able to ensure that I could connect to the Internet. This checking took around 30 minutes, after their stated closing time. I found that to be impressive! I got my computer home, reconnected and was up and running that same evening. I was impressed enought to make sure that I could do this Angie's List update the same evening! As an additional note, I overheard Medina talking with another customer that was there before me. He told the customer that if his laptop's installation wasn't complete that night, that he would take it home that night and continue to work on it so that it would be ready the next day after they opened. That also impressed me!
Description of Work: I got hit with virus/mal-ware so needed a quick fix to get me back up & running. Also needed some maximizing performance.
