Description of Work: We used Silver Desert Handy Man to install some baby locks on cabinets and they built two dog ramps to go from the dog door to the outside. They also repaired a hanging cabinet that was loose from the wall. They also did some bathroom caulking as well as fixing a strip on a shower door.

Description of Work: Rudy and Lee took care of a number of little "to do" items which included: Changing reverse osmosis filters, putting together a new hose reel cart loading it with two hoses, putting together a shower pole with small shelving, nailing thin baseboard areas under the kitchen sink that were loose, moving clothes washer to clean floor area underneath and on the side, and stablizing two wobbly wooden TV trays.

Description of Work: My friend purchased this service for me as a gift. I arranged for the handymen to arrive at 8 a.m. and they were to perform work for 1 hour. Both men were punctual and professional. I had them remove a satellite dish, patch a few holes in the exterior stucco, patch a few interior drywall holes and examine the skylight for any signs of failure, which there was none.

Description of Work: Rudy and Lee have done a number of jobs for me around the house since I first had contact with them in September. I tested them out on some first small jobs (Replacing filters in difficult places as well as lights in 15 foot ceilings, shower caulking,wall switches that were not properly functioning etc). to see how he would do and the did excellent work. He And his assistant worked efficiently and quickly and did not try to sell me anything that I did not need as others in thepast have attempted to do. The pricing was more than fair. Since then they have taken on larger jobs such as redoing my kitchen by removing wallpaper and repainting the kitchen. They took into consideration the need for cleanliness and kept the disruption at a minimum. He and his partner are also very creative problem-solvers. They were able to run wires in hidden spots that I had never even thought of. They hooked up my televisions in four rooms with one wire that works superbly. There is no longer even a hint of exposed wiring. They also installed my flat screens on the wall and the installation was very professional. That job alone would have cost me far more had I gone to an outside company that specializes. They are also very good at heavy lifting type jobs that I no longer can handle. I.e. They completely re-positioned my bedroom furniture by moving it and placing it so that the bedroom looks greatly improved. Not only are they professional and punctual but one of their best features is that they THINK before they DO. It was often clear that they came thoughtfully prepared to tackle the job by doing research on their own time before arriving. Obviously I am extremely impressed with their work I would highly recommend them

Description of Work: I have hired Rudy to do a number of home improvement jobs over the past year. I originally came in contact with Rudy when I purchased his coupon on Angie's List and was very pleased with the initial job and everything he has done for me since. He is honest, always quotes a fair price, and stands by his work. I will continue to use his services for any home improvement projects I have in the future.

Description of Work: Silver Desert Handyman came to my home to perform two different jobs. The most recent, for which I gave the price, was to repair the stand for my and my neighbor's mailboxes. The old post on which the mailboxes were mounted had to be removed. They than installed with concrete, a new post, made a new mounting mounting bracket and attached the mailboxes. The first job was to repair two wrought iron gates--one on each side of my house. It was completed a couple of months ago. These large gates were hanging so poorly that I could barely get the to "halves" to match to properly close them. They removed the gates and hinges, reattached them to reposition them, rewelded them and repainted where they had been welded. Both gates work very well now, closing and opening very easily.

Description of Work: The services requested were arranged after competitive written scope and bids. In general: a) Clean-out of storage area b) clean rafters, joists and underside of sub-floor and deck (area was both int and exterior), c) sealing with wood stain coatings. The contractor had ample access, requirements, and time to prepare the quote and perform. Proper safe chemicals, ventilation, and protective gear and materials disposal were used. However, the power grinders and other tools seemed poor and materials skimpy. I had to pay for materials in addition to Silver Desert's bid. Moreover, saying that their bid was already as low as they could go, they would not honor the Angie's List member coupon for "Silver Desert HandyMan 15% off for First Time AL customers." The work proved difficult, requiring repeated applications of the germicide, sanding, coats of stain etc. to achieve the promised removal and sealing.

Description of Work: Myn wrought iron fence to my back yard rusted out and fell off the hinges. I called and they came out the same day. The work was completed the next day and my gate looks even better than what they had to work with. I highly recommend using them.

Description of Work: Found him to be punctual and dependable. Built a screen on an existing gate,to keep animals out.(Cats mostly) Fixed a problem I had with bathroom sink handles as well. Also leak under sink. Price charged I found fair. I Intend to have additional work done around the house in the near future and will use him again,

Description of Work: Rudy performed multiple jobs for us including installation of drapes in our outdoor room, replacement of a toilet seat, removal of some lighting fixtures, and disassembly and reassembly of a complicated home office furniture set up. My experience was excellent in every way, from the initial quote to his performance of the work including working through adjustments that were required because of mistakes made by the supplier Frontgate. Rudy was clear in his communications, polite, professional, and flexible accommodating changes that were outside of his control. I was particularly impressed with how he handled himself when the wrong parts were delivered and he made a trip that was wasted (and was actually my fault for not inspecting the part I received in the first place). In every encounter, he was pleasant, confident, and flexible, and the final product is something we are very pleased with.

Description of Work: Wrought iron fence and gate needed to be straightened and realigned.

Description of Work: I used a coupon deal to have two hours of handyman service for a set price.I called to have a toilet replaced and had everything set up for parts and anything I thought they would need. The consultation was professional but I did not understand that the twohours of work it was in the coupon ,gets cut in half if they send two guys. Two guys showed up and replaced the toilet as planned. I thought I had an extra hour to burn with them so I asked if they would pick some weeds out in the backyard,which they said yes . At this point they should have told me the original time was up and this weeding would be extra. They worked very h****** the weeds and I was out there also helping thinking I had an hour to get these weeds pulled. What I really didn't like is that I heard one of them say to the other that "this is b*******". I guess I can see why he was mad because that extra hour put his schedule back, but I didn't understand that.At the end my husband tried to tip them and the guy says uh no its more like $35 an hour for each of us. Now he explains about the coupon is only one hour of work if two guys show up. Nice timing. I do take responsibility for not reading the fine print and putting it together.But he could have told me also.

Description of Work: I requested several services from Rudy. He rebuilt two bookcases that did not survive my move. He added drawer pulls and knobs to all cabinets in bath, laundry, kitchen and garage. I also had him hang a large, heavy mirror. I plan to have him back for other tasks.

Description of Work: Repaired a wrought iron gate that is about 6 feet long and 5 feet tall. The repair involved some soldering and hinge work so the latch lines up properly when closed. Also did some rust removal and repainted the gate.

Description of Work: Made an appointment with Rudy and he came to my house on time with his fellow worker Lee just two days later...Both men were very professional and got to work immediately when we showed them what was to be done...Assorted handymen work that we had meant to get done for years...switched doors out, fixed a vanity chair for us that hadn't worked from the time we bought it 8 years ago which I am thrilled to finally sit on it without being careful of it falling over...fixed our address light outside by the garage in the hard pooring rain... also changed batteries in alarm detectors, changed a/c filters etc. etc.
