Ramiro 'Duly' Torres

Where to start? Ramiro 'Duly' Torres is a thief and a liar, and a completely incompetent contractor. Carpeting was to be ripped out of my home, and hardwood flooring installed. The roughly half of the flooring that was installed (we fired him before he could do any more damage) was done improperly, as it was not glued down. The pieces were just being slotted together and placed directly onto the subflooring with no adhesive whatsoever. The remainder of the flooring materials, which I paid for and were picked up by Duly from Floor & Decor (I have documents from them signed by him proving this), have never appeared at my home, and he has now gone unreachable by phone (702-443-1491). Porcelain tile was also improperly installed in the guest bathroom, as glue was used instead of grout to keep the pieces together. The flooring is uneven, and several pieces have cracks in them. The toilet in the same guest bathroom was improperly installed as well. The main gasket between the tank and the bowl was left in the floor of the vanity, apparently as an unnecessary spare part. The screws bolting the tank down were improperly installed, with the threads being shredded. When the water to the house was turned on, as the tank filled, water poured out of the bottom of the tank from around the screws onto the floor. The instructions for the installation of the toilet were found crumpled and discarded on the floor in another room which he'd left as a complete disaster area. A security door was to be installed outside my front door, and he left that job unfinished as well, as he destroyed the door jamb, never finishing that project. Another contractor had to be hired to fix the damage he'd done, at an additional expense. The interior painting was a problem as well, as he felt no need to cover anything in the house when he would randomly start painting in a room that he wasn't supposed to go into yet. He got paint on windows, books, furniture, counter tops, inside a toaster, on lamps, electric plugs, you name it. The total lack of respect for personal property was an incredible insult. And areas he claimed he'd done two coats on had obviously received only one, and a shoddy one at that. To say this man is an incompetent nitwit doesn't begin to describe it. And in addition to keeping the materials for himself that I had paid for (the flooring, the adhesive, wood for the chair rail, paint, amongst other things), $1,500 in cash went missing from my home in the time that he was there. Worse, he still demanded to be paid for all of this, even after being confronted with the theft. A police report was filed, as was an insurance claim, and a lawsuit will follow as well. To sum up: AVOID THIS MAN AT ALL COSTS!!!

Ramiro 'Duly' Torres was unprofessional at best. His workers were dirty, got paint all over the floor and ate my food that was not offered. He used the wrong kind of paint in the bathroom (eggshell instead of semi-gloss) then acted like it was a favor for him to repaint it and tried to charge me more. He was rude, late, inconsistent and I've spent over 2 hours every day they were here cleaning up after them. I asked him to repaint a second bathroom because I didn't like the way the color turned out and while he initially said 'no problem' he held it over my head to get more money from me (I had already paid him extra to repaint the room). This has been the most ridiculous experience I have ever had and I really hope to prevent someone else to have to go through the same ordeal.
