On 6/24/13 I came home after a weekend trip to discover my water heater leaking in the garage and through the walls into the adjacent guest bedroom. The carpeting was soaked and the walls were stained due to the water. Many of the walls had to be torn out in order for the water damage company to be able to dry both rooms and the area between the walls. After getting the area completely dried, I needed a general contractor to replace the drywall, build a new water heater stand, replace the baseboards and paint the walls. My insurance company recommended Mountain Valley Construction. I have to say that I am happy with the work performed as both damaged areas have been completely restored to pre-loss condition. Todd, the estimator came to my house on 6/27 and the next day he emailed me a detailed scope of work to be done with the cost itemized. Work began on 7/2. Celso and Victor started with the garage because I needed this area to be complete before replacing my water heater. On 7/3 the garage area was completed. Victor spent about seven hours working all alone this day. In addition to the painting the garage area, Victor also installed the drywall in the bedroom and textured it. On 7/8, Celso returned to finish up the baseboard installation and painting of the walls. The quality of the work was excellent. The only issue I had was the company's punctuality. On 7/2 the crew was 45 minutes late. At the end of that day they stated they would be back at my house at 7am the next day. But they ended up not coming until 8:30. Then there was some ambiguity about when they would come to finish the job. Victor stated they would either be at my house on 7/4 or Friday, 7/5. Celso ended up showing up on Monday, 7/8 (I am glad there was someone home to let him in as I wasn't sure what day the company wanted to finish the work). It wasn't so much the tardiness that bothered me. What I really think the company could improve upon is in communication in the event they anticipate being late. They could have simply called me to tell me they were running late or if they needed to come on a different day. This way I am not left wondering.
