Golden West replaced my 15 year-old manifold on 5/14/13. Mike came out knowing I was not home. I called AHS on 5/24/13 and reported my Jandy was leaking. Golden West called me on 5/28/13 (was Memorial Week-end so I didn't expect a call until then). I told Bill that I wanted to be there when the technician came out and gave him my availability times for the week. He sent Mike out that afternoon knowing I was not home AGAIN. Since Mike didn't know the specifics of the Jandy issue and it wasn't on when he came so it wasn't leaking, he left - so a wasted call. Contacted them on 5/29 and was told they could not come out until 6/3/13. I gave them my availability. During this time, my pool guy was going to install new filters and noticed the manfold had a slight crack. So I called BIll to inform him that my 2 week old manifold Mike installed (again I wasn't home when he did) was cracked, and Bill said it was due to my filters being dirty. I replied that my pool guy cleans them every 3 months and the orginal manifold lasted 15 years. Also, I still have the old filters so they could see that they are not filled with debris. On 5/29/13, my pool guy started to install the new filters and saw debris on the new manifold so he pulled it out to wash it and there was a severe crack deep around half of the manifold. Now I know my pool guy didn't do this since I was there when he arrived and watched him put the coupler on top of the new filters and discovered the manifold crack as he pulled it out of the filter assembly. Mike came out on 6/3 -- again at a time when I was not home -- so I don't know what he did (scary). I contacted Bill on 6/3 -- no answer. Actually talked to BIll when I called on 6/4 and he said he would have to look at Mike's notes and call me back. No call on later on 6/4, 6/5, 6/6 even though I called several times each day. At 5:30 p.m. on 6/6/13, I got a voicemail from AHS that Golden West looked at the manifold and accused my pool guy of cracking the manifold when he installed the filters which is an outright lie since I was there when he arrived, while he put in the new filters and until he left. So now it is a "he said/she said" scenario and AHS isn't going to give them another manifold since they just did 2 weeks ago and due to an installation mistake so I am stuck with the bill. NEVER USE GOLDEN WEST. Golden West would never give me a time frame or a day when they would be onsite. They just show up and supposedly repair the problem. The manifold could have been cracked at their store -- who knows?. I have since talked to several pool guys (mine is leaving in July to relocate to Washington) and they all say Golden West is terrible. And I don't want others to experience the frustration I did, not to mention time, with unprofessional liars.
Description of Work: American Home Shield (AHS), a warranty company, assigned Golden West to replace a slightly cracked manifold in my filter assembly that my weekly pool guy noticed when he was going to install new filters. We decided to wait on exchanging the filters.. Golden West installed the manifold on 5/14/13. On 5/24/13, my pool guy started to exchange the filters and before putting them in, he noticed the manifold had debris on it and pulled it out. I was with him the entire time, and we both noticed that there was a huge crack in the new manifold due to incorrect installation of it. Contacts at Golden West are Bill, the guy at the company who schedules and Mike, who comes on site to repair. Story below:

We got a referral to this company through our spa manufacturer. Called and was told someone could come out in 6 days. (Not timely, but I thought there may not be many people who could service a spa, so was willing to wait.) The company would not give any type of estimate what time of day they would arrive. Said WE could call THEM on the day to find out. They promised to call 30 minutes prior to arrival. Not a lot of notice, but I went with it. My husband works from home, so he's pretty flexible. We went a weekend without being able to use our swim spa, but okay. They NEVER CALLED AND NEVER SHOWED! We have voicemail and left our address and 2 phone numbers with them, so there's no way we missed a call. How does a company stay in business if they schedule something and never follow up? We called another company, someone was out the next day, at the time they promised for a good price. I hate to wish that someone fails in this economy, but I don't understand how they could stay in business!!

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I would not let Golden West Pool and Spa service work on my 3 year old sons inflatable pool. They were extremely rude, unprofessional and quite frankly did not know what they were doing. And then to top it all of with an obscenity laced conversation with their owner/McGraw sent me shopping for another contractor. RUN.... Don't walk to another pool & spa service provider. Golden West Pool & Spa is the most unprofessional, rude and unreliable company I have ever dealt with as a homeowner.
Description of Work: I have a home warranty with American Homeshield. My spa heater quit working. It is covered by home warranty. I called AHS and made my service appt. The Golden West Technician came three times and every time he came he said nothing was wrong. Finally they sent another technician out who correctly diagnosed the problem as a faulty regulator. He replaced the regulator. I called the company office and requested to speak with the owner/mgr. The owner/mgr was extremely rude, uncooperative and even used profanity on the phone with me. I called wrote a letter to AHS and expressed my displeasure with Golden West Pool & Spa. They apologized and removed Golden West from my assigned vendor list. Instead of Golden West they said from now on my service would be handled by Parrothead pool & spa service. The Parrothead company was much more professional and customer service oriented than Golden West ever was.

Golden West Pool & Spa was honest with me from the start as they told me that it would be better to fix this pump rather than replace it with a new one. I felt they did a good job repairing it and have had no more problems with it. I will recommend them to friends as I was so happy with their service. I only had to pay a deductible to have this pump fixed.

Golden West Pool & Spa did a good job of monitoring my ph levels in my spa. I am never home so they actually leave me a note on the ph levels. I felt that they were a very honest company and have all around nice people working for them. I do have them come out on a weekly basis.
Description of Work: They checked the ph balance and chemical levels in my pool.
