We are so pleased with the final project! It was just as explained and expected. The back of the home has gone from no patio to a great living area. The type of patio cover really compliments the back of the home and allows us additional hours of enjoyment. The teams that were sent to complete the job were just as explained: timely, professional and quite respectful of the home owner. Their clean-up was as meticulous as their approach to the project. Fairless Home should be commended once again for a job well done! We had previous work done by them, and, just as expected, they exceeded our degree of satisfaction! RJ and Donna have created a company and mantra that other companies should try to immolate!...that is, produce what you promise...offer a fair price...have top quality work crews...and follow up with 100% total customer satisfaction. We would not hesitate to recommend this company for any home project, weather it be small additions to major remodel! Thanks RJ and Donna for keeping your promise!
Description of Work: Fairless Homes guided my wife and I through the steps needed to create a perfect outdoor patio/living area for our home in Sun City Anthem, Henderson, NV. They not only provided us with the ideas and types of materials, but they also provided the guidance that I needed to get the HOA's approval. They did all the paperwork for permits both for the HOA as well as Henderson, NV construction codes.

We worked directly with Ron Fairless and Donna David on this project. Both individuals provided outstanding service. Both Ron and Donna are knowledgeable about all aspects of design and construction. The project is on schedule despite 12 change orders that were initiated by my wife and me. Ron and Donna had excellent suggestions and did not try to push their ideas on us but let us come to our own conclusion. Donna has communicated with us frequently and since we live in another state has kept us informed by regularly sending us pictures. My wife and I have built 4 homes and Fairless Homes has been the best contractor we have worked with.
Description of Work: Fairless Homes is doing a complete remodeling of my 2200 square foot single family home in Henderson NV. The project includes demo of existing walls, cabinets and flooring as well as construction of an outdoor kitchen and renovation of the pool. The project is approximately 75% complete at this point.

I had a larger project. $300k+ , they said they didn't have the time or capacity to do it. Obviously a decent contractor that is busy. (which is a good problem). They were fair and said that they didn't have the schedule to do it.

I left a message for Patti to call me on 6/25/14 to request an appointment to put on an addition to my home. On 6/26/14 I called Patti again, this time I actually talked to her. I explained what I wanted and ask for an estimate, she told me Donna would call me to set up an appointment. As of 7/2/14 I have not received a call. If this is the way they try to get your business, I can't even imagine how it is once you sign a contract. If they are too busy to even give an estimate, they should have the common courtesy to let you know so you can look elsewhere, which is what I will do now. Too bad for you, this is a $40,000 job.
Description of Work: Did not return calls to set up appointments, obviously they don't need the business.

On June 13th I called to obtain an estimate to do a construction job at my home. I was told that a woman named Donna would call me within 10 days to setup a date/time to come to my house and provide the estimate. On June 23rd I called a 2nd time and was told that Donna would call me by the end of the week. Well, the week is over and as of June 29th I still haven't received a phone call. This is no way to begin a relationship and I cannot fathom how a company would completely ignore a potential customer who wants to spend over $30,000 to hire them to do work. At this point there is little chance that I will hire Fairless to work on my home. I have no confidence that they would deliver a quality product that is consistent with a contractual agreement. If Fairless is unable to fulfill their very first commitment to me then what are the chances that they would finish the job on time at the agreed price and be responsive to me concerns? I'm not willing to risk it and am going to look elsewhere.
Description of Work: Provider failed to respond to 2 telephone calls that I made to request an estimate for work.

Fairless Homes was able to turn our dream into a reality. We had a room expansion/renovation doubling the space in our living area. RJ and Donna were able to translate our explanation into a workable plan, talking the time to really understand what we wanted and using their knowledge come up with an beautiful and structurally sound home. Other contractors were not able to present us with any plans comparable to the one Fairless designed. Fairless was the most professional contractor we have ever dealt with from start to finish. From submitting the plans to the HOA to the final walkthrough every detail was taken care of for us. EVERYTHING is clearly spelled out in the contract leaving no room for misunderstandings. Anything that came up during the job was immediately addressed. We asked for a few things not in the original contract and Fairless did not charge extra for the additional work. Phone calls and emails are promptly returned. RJ and Donna were always polite, prompt and EFFICIENT. As far as price, Fairless was not the least expensive or the highest price. They stuck to the original estimate and our budget. We feel we got exactly what we paid for if not more! The work was started and completed in the exact time frame we were given, there were no hidden costs, and our home was left in spotless condition when the renovation was completed. All workers on the job site were helpful, polite and neat. We would highly recommend Fairless Homes to anyone!

They were unwilling to show me a design that gave me a visual representation of what they were planning. When I asked for one I was given a quote and told I would have to pay to see what they intended. I didn't think that was good business. I am also in business and I felt like sometimes we have to spend money to sell a job. I felt like Fairless was not willing to put any effort into my project unless I was willing to sign a contract. I felt uneasy and went with another contractor.

In response, our business process is that we do provide a free estimate/proposal that is a complete written description of the work we will do based on the customer requirements. We do not provide drawings for projects that require an architect unless we go to contract with the customer. This is a common procedure, as we have to pay the architect to do the drawings whether we get the job or not. When we do kitchen and bath remodels we will do drawings for serious customers without a contract for them to see but we do not release the drawings without a contract in place. This is standard practice. We apologize for any confusion and wish the customer and his family the very best.

Fairless never did any work for me because they were way overpriced (I got three separate company estimates) and seemed disinterested in doing the work. I called multiple times, over several weeks, and they would not return my calls. I finally caught up with them on the phone, and they sent someone out to supply an estimate. The two people who came out provided a very glossy and sophisticated card and flyer, but seemed very aloof and disinterested in the job. I had a bathroom remodel (due to water damage) which did ultimately cost me over $10,000 with another company; it appeared to me that Fairless would only be interested in my job if it were to bring them a far greater price tag, like some of their positive reviews on Angie's List. I am much more interested in a job well done, for a fair price, with reliable and sincere people, than I am with Fairless' independent attitude and price gouging. I felt that they were patronizing, independent, and slick, to say the least. I was not at all impressed in a positive way. So happy I went with Team Tile and Stone! I dealt with the owner, Steve, who was wonderful; prompt, responsive, knowledgeable, professional, and competent. My remodel is beautiful and well executed. I would definitely call him again for any other work needed. Sorry, glitz does not impress me, results and down-to earth people do.
Description of Work: This was so long ago, and I prefer to not think about it again; this was a bad experience with this company. So, I did not contract with them. I instead contracted with Team Tile and Stone, very prompt, responsive, professional, and reasonable for such excellent work!

First, I must say we struggle to understand the review after all this time has passed. We did go out to the [member name removed] and we spent a lot of time with [member name removed] understanding her requirements. We were very courteous, professional, and understanding. This was part of an insurance claim she was submitting. She wanted a full bath remodel and water damage repair work done if the insurance would cover it. She asked us to provide an estimate for the full work, which we did. We did communicate to [member name removed] that we are not the least expensive. We never claimed to be the lowest. We bid each job based on our costs for that job and provide the highest quality for every job we do. After providing the estimate, [member name removed] came back to us and requested us to rebid it for insurance. At that time we suggested that she work with her insurance company and see where she ended up prior to us rebidding. We are very happy that [member name removed] was able to find a contractor that did a great job for her and that she was happy with.

We purchased our home but had to leave town during its preparation for our move-in so that we could close down our MN home and prepare for the move to Las Vegas. Our selected closet contractor referred us to three generals. We selected Fairless based on price, availability and promises of performance during our complete absence from the city. Problems began when friends checking the house for us on their very first check reported that the contractor left our home unlocked, and we had previously notified them of neighborhood break-ins. Subsequent events showed us that supervision of subcontractors and employees was minimal to nil. Workers broke mirrors, a garage window (I didn't notice this until after final payment), a floor tile and medicine cabinets, and Fairless had left all this for me to discover rather than inspecting regularly and addressing the situations as they arose. At first I was even accused of having done damage, and I wasn't even in town! I had to argue to get the contractor to repair/replace some of the items. Some requested work had to be requested again (sliders missing screens) and at additional cost. I had to plead for a report on a water pressure problem. The painter did not perform as requested and made his own decisions about finish without consulting us or being checked by the general (we passed on this complaint, needing to move in). We were most dissatisfied with the carpet layers' work...they had not properly fastened the carpet at one slider door and had cut the goods too short in several places, leaving bad transitions to tile. The materials vendor explained how the work was not done correctly and connected me with a repair company. Fairless refused to offer corrective measures other than those suggested by the people who had done the damage. We now have to pay out of pocket to correct their sub's mistakes, our having no confidence in their sole solution; that was, to stretch the goods even with two tons of furniture and possessions resting on the carpet! This would leave weakened product and cause ripples across the room. To add insult to injury Lori refused to give me our lien waivers even with final payment and even though I had actually designed a way to accelerate their receiving my progress payments, and I was never late with funds. When I did not receive the lien waivers in a timely fashion as promised thereafter, I complained, and Lori was extremely rude. Finally, she sent me a copy set which did arrive. It was mailed in an envelope with a poor design for sealing. It arrived, miraculously, unopened, and I suspected the original mailing was probably lost because of the poor choice of envelope. Over two months after the original mailing, which was sent to the wrong address, I did receive the first envelope, which the Post Office had repackaged and forwarded to us. With better subs, more supervision, a customer-friendly office and a willingness to accept responsibility for problems they caused, Fairless might become an acceptable contractor, but it is far from that at present! The service address is different from the mailing address indicated for this review.

Response from Fairless Homes LLC
In response to the review: 1. Our supervisor upon leaving the home on one day did indeed miss an unlocked door in the back of the home. It was brought to our attention by the homeowner that evening. The owner of the Company drove across town to the home as soon as he heard about it and locked the door. Our sincerest apologies, this is not something that we take lightly or have experienced with our team prior to this one time isolated event. 2. The broken medicine cabinet and mirror (hard to detect) was not noticed by us or the homeowner at our walk through with the homeowner. When the homeowner discovered this, we promptly replaced the items--this is an older home and we are not sure if the breakage was there prior and was missed from the beginning. However, we took full accountability. 3. The sliders the homeowner selected did not come with screens and screens were not in the contract. We ordered screens at our cost and installed them at no cost to the homeowner. 4. Our plumber provided an initial assessment of the plumbing early on and the homeowner had varying opinions from other plumbers he reached out to. We deferred to the homeowner based on all of his data collection. 5. The painter did a phenomenal job, he went above and beyond for the homeowner. The homeowner praised the work of the painter. We discussed the finish detail with the customer prior to the implementation. 6. The carpet-The homeowner was dissatisfied with their carpet selection. The supplier went out at our request and showed the homeowner that he was not vacuuming correctly and resolved that part of the complaint. The supplier looked at the install and said it was done very well except in two spots. We wanted to send our installer out to do the repair and the homeowner insisted he wanted someone else to do the work. Upon having someone else come out, the homeowner decided he wanted metal thresholds between all of the door entrances. This was not in the contract and not something we do. The homeowner said he was going forward with the other company and wanted us to pay for it. We continued to request that we come out to do the two fixes and that we stand behind our work and do the repairs. We do apologize that this item has not gone smoothly on either end-but not from a lack of effort and good intention on our part. 7. The releases and lien waivers. Lori was diligent in sending the package to the homeowner. When the homeowner called and said he did not receive it, Lori immediately sent it back out to both of his addresses. It is very disappointing to read this review. Fairless Homes went above and beyond for this customer from start to finish. Were there a few hiccups, yes, did we address them yes--we walked the job multiple times with the customer and our crew spent time with the homeowner doing extra clean up. We responded to all requests throughout and post project completion. We thought we had built a good relationship with the customer and in fact recently received a request from them to look at doing additional work.

We did our construction from long distance as well as while we were here. We also own a home in Florida. So much of the work done was in our absense. The degree of communication was exceptional from Fairless. The dates that we agreed to were kept precisely. The time of construction was evenly distributed so differed cres were not over lapping and getting in their way. Once we arrived, the cooperation between the work cres and us, the home owners was outstanding. The cleanliness of each crew (from outside, rooters, stucko, masonry, landscapers to inside; painters spacklers, electricians) was as professional as it gets. We are seasonal homeowners who have had different projects done from our homes in New York to our home in Flordia to now this home in Nevada and we can say with conviction and confidence that this company delievered on ALL of it's promises. We would hearlily encourage anyone seeking home improvements from simple additions to complex projects to use "Fairless" for ideas and suggestions as to bort accomplish the good of the home owner. While construction is never easy this company AND their representitives made it everything we could have or would have expected of them. In fact... they have exceeded our hopes and dreams and created a wonderful experience. Bravo, Fairless!!!
Description of Work: Added 1500 sq ft (approx) to our home. Fairless designed and assisted everything from flooring to lighting outside design and landscaping. Their vision exceeded our expectations.

I believe the home renovation (addition) is fairly involved but after a 30 second phone call I was told "that is something we don't do and we don't know anyone we can refer you to." Quoted verbatim . I actually never asked for a referral but after years in the business "nobody to refer you to" ! Really??? More like, we are not going to refer work we are not interested in to others. This company seems too busy and seems to have already forgotten the importance of customer and peer relationships now that the downturn is ending.

RJ came out for a landscape consultation for our large side yard. We discussed our "wish list" items and he brainstormed ways to configure the space. We really liked his ideas and looked forward to seeing his design and bid. Two weeks later we still hadn't heard from him. The quote was much higher than what I could afford to spend. I still haven't done anything on my bathroom. That was just a little bit out of my league. They were professional and on time. They came up with some really good ideas for remodeling my bathroom. It was just that their price was not in my realm. I told them to lower the price and we probably could work with something and they still have not gotten back to me on that. Basically, we talked, they submitted a proposal but it just didn't work out. It did take a while to get the quote back. Once it was back, trying to get them to modify the quote or change it around to meet my needs never came around.

I was very pleased with their professional attitude and level of expertise. They were flexible and sensitive to my budgetary concerns. I am currently waiting for the company to send me an initial estimate.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel. I was in the hospital as a result of an emergency with a 7 week recovery, and had to postpone the remodel. We are meeting with the company this week to begin the remodel process again. So far, we are pleased with the designers and our verbal conversations with the company representatives.
