The garage door started to malfunction, not wanting to open every time. I called to have the door serviced. When he came, he wanted to start by lubing the coil above the top of the door, then make sure the door was aligned properly, saying sometimes that could be the problem. He said the coils .looked kinked & could snap at any time and should be replaced for another$200. I asked him to focus on the operation of the door to see why it wouldn't open and came inside. When I went to check on him in 15 minutes, he was disassembling the coils and just started replacing them with a new set. I told him to put the old one back on because I didn't have the $ at the time. After doing that, he tried to open the door again without any luck and said it probably was the electronic board on the motor that needed replacing for another $125. I paid him our agreed $75 to come and assess the problem but didn't have him do the work. I felt I was being taken advantage of and hired another company to come repair my door. They came in for $125 and fixed it with the new board and said the coils looked fine. Everything works great now.I don't know about electronics and garage doors, for all I know repairing the door may have needed all the checks this guy did, but the way he went about doing the work and automatically assumed I wanted new coils just was odd and didn't feel right. Be careful if you use this guy, he may want to up-sale you.
Description of Work: Garage door wouldn't open. He came in, lubed the door coils thinking that was the problem, then started the process to replace springs on the door w/o my permission. When i went out & saw him disassembling the coils, I told him to put it back together because I didn'tt have the $ for it. After doing that, we tried opening the door again w/o luck. Then he said it probably was the board on the motor that needed replacing for another $125. I didn't have him do the work, but paid another company to do it. I felt I was being taken advantage of

We live in Sun City at Anthem in Henderson, NV. Our garage door opener needed adjustment for the tension in the rubber band that brings the door open. He knew immediately what had to be adjusted. He increased the tension on the rubber band that opens the garage door and explained to me what he was doing. Every questions that I asked him he had an answer and showed me what was happening. He was very honest and made the adjustment and charged us only $20.00 for the adjustment. The young man was very good at communicating everything he was doing. I would highly recommend this young man for work at your house. He does a lot of the work for housing developments and stands behind his work even when the manufacture of an item does not. One maker of garage door openers in China will not allow anyone in their plants to grade the quality of work they are doing in making garage door openers. He has stopped installing their product because of the poor quality. He said that if I had trouble with this particular make of garage door opener (made in China) to call him first and he would help me with the call to the manufacturer. He said that particular manufacturer in China loves to play the game of finding something wrong that they don't have to stand behind their product.
Description of Work: Our garage door opener needed adjustment.

I was ready to spend alot of money replacing the whole motor/unit. This is what many people told me I would have to do according to their experience with garage doors.Big Mountain Genie came right out and fixed it.. He also cleaned and serviced the trac and changed the light bulb. He could have sold me a unit but his honesty wouldn't let him take advantage. This is a very good company and I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: My garage door opener was not working... motor was running but no lift. It turned out to be a relay? or some part in the control box.

My garage door was straining to open and making lots of noise. Shawn of Big Mountain Genie quickly pointed out structural members in the upper sections that were cracking, causing the problem. He reinforced these sections with new metal struts. He then reinforced the area at the top of the door where the motorized arm from the garage door opener connects to it, as screws were coming out of stripped holes there. He also lubricated the door section's moving parts and the spring. He was very knowledgeable and was done within one hour or so. He was running a bit late from his previous job, but he gave me a revised estimate of his arrival time. Overall I was very impressed and would definitely use his services again.

Our garage door was going part way down and then back up. I called this co. based on the ratings seen here. The serviceman was punctual. He spent 10-15 min. adjusting the electricity and tightened something in the arm that opens and closes the garage. He said to call if we had any more problems I noticed right away that it still seemed very rickety and off in the track. Within 2 days the door was back doing the exact same thing, coming down then opening right back up. I called the office and the lady who answers their phones, who was perfectly nice, told me some things to try myself w/ the garage. Well I was at work and I know nothing about garage doors, that's why we hired them. She said something like she was "trying to save us money". I said I was not paying another $70 for a visit, we just paid them and it was not fixed. They sent out the same serviceman about a week later. He refused to do any more work! He would not touch the garage door, motor, nothing. He told my husband it was doing this because the sun was hitting the sensors. Well that does not explain the rickety in the tracks! He told him to cover the sensors with cardboard. So on this 2nd trip he did not perform any work, look at the door, check his own previous work done on the door, etc. which I thought was terrible customer service. The garage is still rickety.
Description of Work: Garage door was going half way down and then coming back up. It was rickety on the tracks. A serviceman came out and spent 10 min. on it, he adjusted the electric flow and tightened something on the track.

This company did a very good job. They showed up on time and the work only took them 15 to 30 minutes. The workers were very personal, but yet professional and they did operate on a business level. I was very pleased with them. I thought the cost involved for the work was very good as well.
Description of Work: I had them replace a plastic pike that went in the motor of our garage door. They also replaced the springs.

Ken Bubonovich, the serviceman, was very personable, polite, and willing to explain what needed to be done and why. He was extremely thorough and even did some ''preventative maintenance'' on one section of the door. He wanted me to be satisfied with the job he had done, and didn't charge me for this follow-up service call. He certainly could have, and I appreciate his good will.
Description of Work: My garage door, which has an automatic mechanisim, was stopping on the way down, and needed to be closed manually. Ken Bubonovich, the serviceman, had installed the Genie garage door opener/closer about a month ago. He had been contracted by Home Depot. The current problem was not with the Genie opener, but with the door itself. Ken adjusted numerous parts of the door, and it now works beautifully.

When I called for an appt. I was given a time of 11 am to 1 pm. The day before they called and left a message that an earlier appt. Time was available (9 am) since we arrived home late that night I did not return the call. He called prior to coming over (but we had to run out on a quick errand) and missed the call. He took a chance that we would be home and came at the earlier time. I am very satisfied with the work performed and the professionalism. I would recommend this company.
Description of Work: Our garage door developed a problem of closing part way and then auto reversing back to open. He lubed the hinges and springs, then adjusted the down force. Our door now operates correctly.

Big Mountain Genie did a very good job on our garage door. I thought that they were very quick and polite. I have not had any problems with our door since. I have been dealing with the Father of the company and now I am dealing with the son and they are both excellent to deal with.
Description of Work: He took our old garage door opener off as the motor went out on it and installed a new motor.

I had accidentally rammed into something with my car and smashed right into the rail causing it to smash down and not allow the door to close. Big Mountain was very punctual and reliable. They came right out and were able to mend the rail back to normal. I was pleased with the politeness the man had showed. Since the man was here, I have rearranged things in my garage so that this would not happen again. He actually recommended I do that and I have not had a problem since.

Big Mountain Genie did a wonderful job with my garage door. They were able to finish what the other company I previously hired did not get to. When I called to get my appointment with them, I was able to get one within a week. It was great. They did a very good job with everything. The people were extremely nice and considerate. They worked very hard until they got the job completely done. They did not leave any kind of mess behind. They explained to me how to be cautious with the garage door. I even obtained a five year warranty on it.
Description of Work: Big Mountain Genie was hired to come and finish replacing my garage door.
