Richardson's Excavating has been servicing our septic system for over four years. Throughout this time the company has been very diligent in fulfilling their contract service calls and extremely prompt during those occasions when the need arose due to a septic problem. Rich is friendly, and extremely knowledgeable and skilled at what he does. His wife, Marsha, who handles the office matters, is a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend this company for rural residents in need of septic system servicing.

Rich and his son are the best. Reasonable prices, great customer service and responsive. I would recommend them first over any other provider in Santa Fe.

One day last spring I was horrified when I walked out into my backyard to discover water bubbling up where the septic tank is located. Initially I called a different company, one that had previously pumped our septic tank on several occasions. They pumped the tank & explained that the leach field was exhausted & we needed a new one put in. Their estimate was very high (double what Richardson's charged) and they also insisted it would be necessary to cut down several mature trees to get their excavating equipment in place. Thankfully we decided to get another estimate. Richardson's Excavating was a referral from a neighbor. Although my initial call did not get returned immediately (they were in the field & out of cellular range), all subsequent follow-up was timely. Rich walked the property with me, determining the least invasive way to get the job done. Thankfully we had a nice open space where the field could go, but it required trenching through a narrow area between mature trees to get to the open area. Also he was able to engineer the leach field to be two separate "legs" which helped preserve the existing trees. Rich explained what documents he would need from me to apply for the permit. I emailed him all requested items, and within about 10 days we had our permit, and the work was scheduled. Seeing the backhoe being unloaded from the flatbed, I was convinced that we'd lose some trees. However, they expertly maneuvered the hulking machine like it was an extension of their hands, navigating between the trees & extending the backhoe arm through an even narrower channel to get close enough to the septic tank. The work was done over about a two-day period. When the work was done, it was difficult to tell there had ever been any heavy equipment in our yard. Richardson's Excavating is a small company, family owned. They might be small, but they have their own equipment and know how to operate it. If I ever need excavating work done again, I will definitely hire Richardson's Excavating without hesitation.
Description of Work: Installed a replacement leach field for our septic system. The work included obtaining permits from the county and coordinating with a septic pumping company to drain the tank prior to excavation.
