Mark of Window Depot in Taos NM was quick to respond to our inquiry. The installers were good and thorough. The new windows were good. Unfortunately, the color was not what was ordered (and on the invoice). We actually liked the color, and we asked Mark to contact us thinking he would apologize for the mistake. We were clear that we liked the blinds (even though not what we ordered) and were not asking for them to be replaced. Mark never responded to calls and texts. Very disappointing.

Their finished product is a great job. Getting from start to finish and communicating with you it's as if they don't want the work. Many phone calls, no return calls or if they do they call and it rings twice, but no voicemail (happened twice, said they left) and no further attempts unless you call them and leave a message. I've used them last year to repair about 12 screened windows of a house I was refurbishing and the turnaround time once I delivered the screens was 1-2 days with great work. It took me nearly three weeks to set up the appointment to deliver them as I often would get the word "I have to talk to someone, I'll get back to you, they no longer work here (common in taos) - what were they doing for you? Currently I'm trying to get them to call me back to ask if they would get me a price quote on a new external door and new screens for other windows in a higher guage metal mesh. It's been two weeks now and not one attempted phone calls. I've called to hopefully catch them at work, but it's v-mail or a fax screech. If I could use someone else I would. I may end up having friends set up and travel to Santa Fe for the work on my dime as this is ridiculous. If that's the case, I'll switch my overall to "F" This is a major reason why I left Taos and am trying to sell my 2nd home there

Order process was extremely easy. We purchased and processed everything from Our permanent residence in Texas. Made one trip to their actual store location, all other details were handled by email and phone. Andrew was our point of contact and was extremely knowledgeable and paid great attention to our wants and needs. Installers Leonard and Jerome were courteous, friendly and extremely clean according to our property manager. Have done several renovations to our home in Taos since we purchased in late 2012 and Window Depot was by far the most pleasant and professional. We had experienced the "Taos screwing" from several other handymen and contractors and were a bit skiddish but the amount of detail and communication prior to placing the order was excellent. We did have one issue in that one window came un finished when the entire order was to be pre finished but it was taken care of for us without any reservation. We had 18 windows and 1 door in all installed on a log sided cabin, the entire process from start to finish took 4weeks including order time, not bad considering we had been quoted 6-8 weeks because of custom size by other dealers. Their payment policy is flexible with a 75% deposit with a 25% retainer payable upon final inspection, helpful when considering we were going to give Lowes 100% and only our hopes to be satisfied. They were approximately 8-10% higher than Lowes overall but considering the upgrades in product and service we felt was well worth it. In the event we have any future issues we know we have one person to contact and not a rotation of possible employees with a big box. Great product, comparable price with excellent, friendly and extremely knowledgeable customer service. We are pleased!

Description of Work: Windows and exterior doors were ordered May 2011 for our new construction home and they were than initially put in, in October 2011. Ever since October 2011 we have had great problems getting them out to fix the problems like wrong color hardware on some windows (white instead of bronze like the rest of the house. Some windows had white screens instead of wood colored as the rest of the house had. One window was missing the Prairie View molding that was on the other windows. After many calls (only 1 out of 6 calls would be returned after leaving a recording) and on many occasions we would stop by their office to see if we were on their schedule. On at least three occasions we were given dates that they were supposed to come fix the various items and they just wouldn't show up. They did finally come on 2 occasions (separated by several months) but only some of the items were replaced and when putting in the Prairie View molding on the window, it didn't fit right on the outside of the house. During the time we were waiting to get the replacements we had gone ahead and ordered 4 more windows. As it had now become ridiculously hard to get them to come out to the house or to get them to return a phone call we decided would not pay for the windows until they had finished the house as it should be, to include designer door hardware that they never did bring out to the house. It then became a matter of if you don't pay us what you owe us for the extra windows (the 20+K had already been paid back in 2011) we're not coming back out. Not what you need to hear a company when you've laid out a large amount of money to them. We finally gave up dealing with them, forfeiting the money we had already paid in the initial 20+K for 5 doors.
