Description of Work: All I needed was to stop the drip in my shower. Another company in Santa Fe never got back to me. TLC sent someone the next day. That morning, the plumber called to say he could come early(!) and I accepted. At first he thought he needed to go back to a local plumbing store and get a replacement washer, but when he opened up, he found that some ring washers, that he had with him, would do the trick. So I had my shower fixed promptly and efficiently, at a reasonable cost!

First attempt did not work; then the repair person had issues with his truck and did not come as promised, but eventually he did come back and replaced another part which did the trick. He was very nice and knowledgeable and the office was very helpful too. Was very fair about the cost and no new charges due to the delay. We really liked them.

TLC responded the same day after a contractor for a major building-supply chain could not do the install because of a vent issue. TLC replaced the gas-fired heater and adjusted the vent by dinner time, restoring hot water service. The company is a bit more expensive than some of its competitors but worth it if you need work done promptly.

They are 50-percent higher on an hour charge in the market. From my experience in Santa Fe they are incompetent. He is a really good guy. He just had no experience in working what he was working on. They should have said that in the first place because they said they could fix everything. The guy was a good guy. He was really trying, but he had never seen a hybrid hot water heater before in his entire life. I had to go to somebody else. He sent me a bill for $250.

I am so glad I called these folks. Friday afternoon I had a blockage in my toilet that I thought I could fix. I couldn't get it done, so I called Anna and Jamie at the TLC office here in Santa Fe and they helped me get Quinn out here in the late afternoon. An hour later, he had snaked the drain and everything was flowing again. Quinn drew a layout of the water drain so I could understand what was happening. He ran a video camera down the line to double check everything. GREAT JOB!

The red light is blinking on the pre-filter of the Trane furnace despite our vacuuming. He took it out and examined the part with the serious spikes on it and said that didn't need to be cleaned. He took the other 2 plastic looking filters out and ran those under the hot water at the sink. Yes, the water was very dirty. He told us to put them in the dishwasher. Didn't tell us to not use soap in that cycle which I already knew from reading the brochure that came with the unit. The red light will continue to blink when the furnace comes on. With the amount of dirt that came out during the rinsing that should have had an affect on the blinking red light and it didn't . I called him back the next day and he never returned my call. This summer I will run them through the dishwasher, but if that doesn't fix the problem I will not be calling them back.
Description of Work: I called because the red light comes on when the furnace comes on even though we have vacuumed the filter.

So, TLC had come to our home many times over the past few years to fix our toilet. They had convinced us that it was our old pipes and charged us each time they came. Each time they would just look at the toilet and clear it up. The final time I called, I asked them to also come stop our dripping sink. When he was close, he called and I mentioned that while he was there, could he check a few other things (the sink, etc.). He said he would. If you call and ask TLC if one person can do both services, they say yes. When I got home, there was a bill for two different people coming, each bill for about $100 dollars. I called to ask why nobody had asked my permission to send a second person and, since I had been a loyal customer, would they mind just charging for the one guy they said they were sending. The answer was a strong no. The manager and everyone I spoke to said that this was a "chargeable" event and that they were going to charge me. One week later, I got a notice that they put a lien on my house. Not kidding. A materialman's lien. We just paid it because it wasn't worth the energy to fight it, but it was unbelievably aggressive. And back to the toilet. We ended up calling another company who went to some other main pipe, cleaned it out and haven't had trouble since.
Description of Work: TLC came (for about the 4th time) to fix our toilet that was stopped up. We also had some other tweaks we needed while they were there.

We called the Monday before Thanksgiving after the boiler began making a loud noise and the house was quite cool. Kris came out Tuesday and diagnosed the problems. He was very professional, competent and pleasant. He said he could return the following Monday (since he was going out of town for the holiday the next day) with the parts to make the repairs or someone else could come while he was away. We decided to wait for the next Monday. Kris came at the appointed time, made the necessary repairs and everything has worked fine since then. We would definitely call TLC again for any heating or plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Replaced 3 zone valves, installed/replumbed new accumulator and temp/pressure gauge for radiant heat system boiler.

Recently I had this company out due, as it turned out, to a malfunctioning toilet. I had a good experience but gave a lower score on my previous review since the plumber, who asked that I call him when I had decided on a toilet, never returned my call. Some days later he did call, apologizing, saying he had not received the voice message. As his other work had been good, I chanced to have him back. He came on time, was professional, clean, and importantly, did an excellent job.

The plumber came as promised. He first checked the toilet and thought the double flushing was caused by the water level being set too high. He adjusted that--though the double flushing continues. He also thought the problem clearing waste was due to the toilet itself. He told me he could get me an excellent replacement, brand X, at a good price; I mentioned a brand I had heard many good things about, and he said he could get me anything I wanted, but again, he told me the merits of his choice. However, he did go outside to check the clean-out between the house and septic tank. He said the water was flowing unrestricted, seemingly confirming that the problem lay with the toilet. I then told him I needed to do some checking on brand X, as I knew nothing about it. He said fine; that while I did that he would auger the toilet in case there was calcium or other build up present, and then go to his truck and make out the bill. When he returned I said I still didn't have the information I needed. He said that was no problem, but that since he would be back in the area the next day, he could install brand X at $100.00 off. He even said I might want to wait a day or two to see if things were better. We settled the bill; he gave me his card and said to call his mobile number when I decided. Later that afternoon I called his mobile number, leaving the message that I found little about brand X, and that what I did find was so-so. I asked he call me, letting me know the price for my choice installed. He never returned the call. He was polite, seemed earnest and knowledgeable. But my toilet still does not work properly--or was he just selling a toilet?. I don't know yet.
Description of Work: A toilet was double/triple flushing; it was inefficient clearing solid waste, and on occasion it would back up when only liquid was flushed, making me thing the drain was clogged. I called to have the drain checked, and cleared as necessary.

I expected it to be a fairly expensive work, so I also actually through a friend knew a plumber that had worked for TLC and I talked with him. The guy that came seemed to have taken care of everything, but left with an incorrect pressure reducing valve setting; and promised that he will check back about how this was operating, but he never came back. I realized what the problem was, and knew that it was pretty simple for me to fix by simply turning the screw and adjusting the pressure. So I can't say that I was 100% satisfied.. On the other hand, I was most appreciative, when I called one day and the plumber got here. The next day they did take time to get the parts, but that was understandable. So when they came back after two hours; after getting everything done. They also expressed concern and told me to call them if I had any further concerns. Overall, I was pleased, but also realize that, had I not had the knowledge about the way they had left the water pressure settings, that could have been bad situation for someone else.
Description of Work: I have recently used TLC plumbing for boiler repair. I had a leaking pipe in the boiler and I wanted somebody confident on short notice to work on it.
