SANTA FE GLASS & MIRROR

If you decide to do business with Santa Fe Glass and Mirror (SFGM), be sure to get a detailed description in writing of what you expect to receive. If not, be prepared to be forced to accept and pay for a glass product that you would not want in your home at any price and be told it was what you ordered. After three satisfactory purchases at SFGM, I ordered a tempered glass for a table and was given a written estimate for a "41 x 23 1/4, 1/4 oval shaped glass, flat grind" at a price of $245.65. The glass SFGM delivered had an edge that was wavy like a potato chip, not uniform, not symmetrical and not respecting the oval dimensions promised. When I filed a Federal Fair Credit Billing Act dispute through Visa, SFGM made up a story to say I was told the glass would be handcut and that it would not be symmetrical. As a result, my dispute was denied and I was left with a $245.65 charge for something totally unusable. If you try to buy local, like me, despite being able to purchase online and delivered to your home for a fraction of SFGM's price, I recommend staying away from this business!

Do not buy anything from these clowns and liars! They provided the same quote several times, but then tried to charge quite a bit more when the Plexiglass was delivered. I returned it. Moreover, it was impossible to have an actual conversation with the delivery guys; it was like talking to the Three Stooges: Main delivery guy: "I need your credit card." Me: "You already have my credit card." Him: "That's just for security purposes. I need a credit card now." Me: I ran inside to get my wallet. I came back to my garage and tried to hand him my credit card. Him: "I can't take your credit card. If I have to manually type in your credit card number, I'll have to charge you three percent extra." Me: "So how I can I pay?" Him: You need to go to our store and swipe the card through the credit card machine." Me: "What?" Him: "You have to pay for this today, or we will type in your credit card number manually and charge you three percent extra." Me: "When does the store close today?" Him: "4:30 pm. You need to pay before 4:30 or we'll charge you the three percent extra." Me: "OK." Then they left and I went inside my house and called my spouse to say we needed to pay at the store before 4:30: Spouse: "What? That's almost $300 more than the quote!" We decided to return the items rather than pay them so much extra money. I asked a friend with a pickup truck to help us return the items. Santa Fe Glass and Mirror forced us to pay the delivery fee of $45 plus tax when we arrived. What an awful experience.

Planned a window replacement for a rental from out of state. They did a good job and made it fairly easy. I thought the price was a bit high but was pleased overall.

For an emergency repair it went exceptionally well.

The task was routine and was delegated to one of the apprentice workers, Joseph. I picked up the screen and tried to fit it on the door frame at my house to find that it was not square, pulled in about 1/4and quot; at the center. I returned with the screen and Dion, an experienced worker, redid the job without question, and it fit perfectly the second time. It was a small job, so did not get the supervisory attention from Rodger, the manager, that was required.

Called several local glass companies to ask for quote for two mirrors. SF Glass and Mirror was most responsive and best price. Fellow who quoted price (about $200) took my name so that when I came in to order, the quote information would be available. A few days later, went to store to order mirrors. Told him mirror dimensions for the order and was quoted almost twice the price. Told him that we had a quote on file, but he could not find it and made some excuse about his high quote. Called back a day or two later and spoke to first employee who took order but tried to charge me $10 more than first quote. When I told him the original quote was lower, he decreased the price (said he couldn't find original quote paperwork). Although they said the mirrors would be ready in a few days, it took more like 10 days. We finally picked up the wrapped mirrors at store, took them home and unwrapped them, and found that one mirror was fine but other was damaged on one corner (silver mirror backing was peeled off). When I took it back to the store the following day, the owner tried to blame us for damaging the mirror. After several days of discussing options, we finally settled on re-beveling the mirror at a small cost to us. The mirror was supposed to be repaired in a week. After three weeks and several calls to the store, I kept getting the run-around, so I asked to speak to the owner. When I complained that I kept getting different stories on the status of the mirror, and no one really seemed to know where the mirror was located, he hung up on me. The re-beveled mirror finally came back to the store about a week after my call. The owner had me look at the corner, and sure enough, it looked OK. But when we got it home and hung it up, we could see that the mirror now had a foggy substance between the glass and backing so that it cannot be wiped off. I assume that occurred when it was re-beveled. I did not bother to deal with this company again and will have another mirror made by some other company.
