i had home warranty so did not complete repair but Bernie showed up same day and one time with an accurate diagnosis

They took hours working on our leaking air conditioning wall unit. They welded it in the back. They also spent a long time on the roof. Cost we were told (after the owner had already been by to look at it) was supposed to be no more than $500 to fix it. They charged $750 which is 50% more than they estimated. The unit still leaks a freon puddle onto the floor below it (even in fan mode), like it did before they came, the air conditioner still does not work, but now, unlike before, it makes more noise than before when running just on the fan. We ended up paying them $500 after multiple rounds of back and forth and disagreement after the service date just to get them to leave us alone. We were really surprised by the owner's lack of support (he was not here when the work was done) and it became a bit of a battle of who said what. If we could have paid them to do nothing to it, it would have been money better spent. Although both the owner and the workers that came assured us they knew how to repair this unit, the longer they worked on it the more concerned we got that they didn't. We are a handy couple and know how to repair many things, so many of their tactics seemed beside the point. They took over 5 hours mainly diagnosing the issue and on hold with Carrier tech support, and then still not fixing the problem. They left saying they wanted to come back and do more work, but after charging us an hourly rate plus materials to still not repair it, we opted not to continue with them. In the end, the details don't matter, they charged us to not fix the unit and then wanted to come back and charge us to do more "work". No thank you!
