We are extremely pleased with the results, and plan to engage Jim to install more flooring in the near future. I was a little nervous about how the interface between the wood and the round bottom of the concrete columns was going to look, but it turned out that to see any imperfections, I have to put on magnifying glasses and get down on my knees with extra light! Jim is not affiliated with a large organization, so expect to leave a message and to have him get back to you within 24hours. The only exception to this turnaround time turned out to be when he was out of town at a funeral, which is not something that I think anyone should complain about. Jim is very easy to talk to and to get along with. He is meticulous. In addition to a delivering a beautiful installation, Jim never made any hint of a mess in the house; there was some sawdust outside where he cut all of the planks, but that was not a problem for us. I understand that Jim does not advertise but still has a relatively full schedule based on "word-of-mouth" recommendations; given our experience, I am not surprised. He basically finished the installation in two days, but in order to allow the multiple coats of epoxy to cure properly, he had to return briefly to install the nosing. I was eager to have the floor finished and the second day of installation was a Friday, but Jim was happy to come at our convenience on Saturday to install the nosing. Jim usually requests half of his fee up front, but he forgot to do that with us. I found this out when I thought to offer some payment during a pause in the installation while we were waiting to receive the nosing, which had to be purchased separately from the the floor planks.
Description of Work: Jim installed a Brazilian Cherry (Jatoba) floor in our approximately 300sq ft dining room. The installation was floating over a concrete sub-floor. The room has one angled wall. Jim also put an epoxy finish on the stair nosing that that was used at the door to the room, and closely fitted the flooring to the round bases of two columns that flank a wide, open entrance to our foyer.

Jim was recommended by my main remodel man, Justin Sanchez, and he handled all of the communication and setup work with Jim. The work was done simply beautifully. The floor is gorgeous, and if possible, better than I'd hoped. Two things. One, not as important, but on the last day of the work, I dropped by just as Jim was finishing up, and that was when I discovered that my floor man was also my backyard neighbor. Two, since he did such an amazing job, I also decided to have the floors in my old house refinished, and I have decided to have Jim do those too. So, after one month, I will be hiring Jim again. I can't give a more positive recommendation.
Description of Work: Finishing of a brand-new oak wood floor over plywood sub-floor. This covered about 2/3 of our home's main floor, and was done in conjunction with other remodeling going on concurrently.

Interrupted by the fire evacuation of Los Alamos, but when all of us Los Alamosians were let back into town, he went right to work again and finished up and did a beautiful, beautiful job.
Description of Work: Wooden floor refinishing - strip out old carpet, sand, and apply finish. This is an old government house and it went from "ick" to ahhh! Very happy with his work and professionalism and would use him again to re-do more of my floors in future.
