Eric and his workers did an excellent job. Everyone was very skilled, polite, friendly, neat and a pleasure to have working in our home. We appreciate, too, how Eric followed the job and was always available. We will certainly contact him in the future if we decide on more "upgrades" or repairs.
Description of Work: New shower stall installed. Needed all replaced. New base, tile and fixtures installed.

The work performed by Eric Smith The Builder was excellent. Both Eric and his workers were friendly and respectful, which included actually listening to what I had to say, something that is not always a given for a woman. They showed up when they said they would, and they were careful, clean, and efficient. That is not to say that there was no dust in the rest of the house, but especially given that they spent several hours cutting tile on the floor while my husband and I were going in and out of their containment area, I believe that they did a good job of minimizing the effects of construction on the rest of the house. If Eric had not been at the house at the end of the day, he usually called before work started the next day to ask if I was satisfied with both the process and the product. I am a DIY'er, and I monitored the project moderately closely, because I did some woodworking woodworking for the project before they started and was going to do some more after they were finished, because a couple of things were going to have to be decided "on the fly" and because I wanted to make sure that I was happy with how things are done. The best example of the last is that at my request, they (willingly) incorporated some reinforcement to the copper flange of the range hood, even though it was not required by code or the installation instructions. The only problem that we had after they finished was that the garbage disposal quit working a day or so after they finished. When I called Eric in the morning, he said that he would get someone there that day, and he did. The problem -- a loose wire to the power cord -- was quickly diagnosed and fixed, and we have had no other problem with it, or anything else. Early on in the project, Eric went the extra mile to pick up the tile and rangetop on unrelated trips to Albuquerque, and then to deliver them to my house in Los Alamos with no charge, saving me either about $150 in delivery fees or the loss of a day to retrieve them myself; he also picked up the garbage disposal I purchased over the phone from a vendor in Santa Fe and delivered it to the house when it was needed on short notice. My house is about 30years old, and Eric politely but firmly informed me that because electrical work was being performed under his license, the kitchen had to be brought up to current code; installation of the GFCI outlets that were needed both for the island and along the other counter was subsumed into the existing contract. I should be clear that not all of their work was perfect, for example, another 1/8inch of shimming between two cabinets in the island was required for the range top to fit in its opening, but my husband and I will be happy to go back to Eric Smith the Builder for future projects.
Description of Work: Demolition and preparation for partial kitchen remodel: removing old counter tops and tile backsplash; removing and saving cabinets from existing kitchen island; cutting and removing existing Mexican tile floor to relocate and expand island; reinstalling cabinets into new island configuration; installing new hood, including running vent between ceiling joists through house exterior wall and connecting hood to existing electrical service; relocating "can-light" in kitchen ceiling; installing new range-top into island; installing new sink and garbage disposal; and installing new back-splash tile. In summary, the work performed included demolition, electrical work, plumbing for both water and natural gas, wallboard work, painting, tile work, ventilation work, and carpentry.

Project took longer start to finish because of scheduling delays with concrete delivery. Eric was very responsive to my wishes and suggestions and took care of all permitting details. Eric has many projects going at once and my only complaint is that he could of used more more person with him for the complex stair pour. As a result the initial stair finish was not up to standard but he worked to make it right. All in all very professional and I would use him again.
Description of Work: Concrete parking pad. New concrete front steps over old concrete steps with stucco finish on sides.

Description of Work: "I asked that my electrical outlets be replaced so they would be compliant and would work. I also needed repair to a light switch that didn't always work. Eric asked if I minded if they could work my job between other larger jobs. I agreed. I asked for an estimate which I never received verbally or in writing. |A few weeks later Eric sent over a couple laborers who replaced the plugs in about 5 hours. Eric came the next day and worked on the light switch for about two hours. Eric then presented me an invoice for $1200, and demanded payment immediately! I told him I would have to withdraw the money from a Fidelity account and it would take a couple days. He made it clear how angry he was. Three days later the money was wired into my local account. I called Eric and he was at my house within 10 minutes! I handed him his check and he left without another word. He is a rude unreasonable man. I have lived here for over 50 years and until now have been treated very well by the excellent in home construction/repair people I have hired. Further I have always been given an estimate prior to work and have always been invoiced after the work with 30 days to pay. |Lastly, the switch Eric ""worked on"" for over two hours still doesn't always work!"

The whole process went very smoothly and efficiently. The excavation had to be done manually (pick, shovel, and wheelbarrow) but the workers were remarkably capable and efficient. The worksite was carefully and thoroughly cleaned after the work was completed.
Description of Work: Excavated to 7 feet below finished grade level to repair a leaky wall into the below grade room. Then applied sealing materials, returned the excavated dirt, and reworked the associated landscape material. Also reworked concrete patio finish.

The bid was accomplished easily...the price seemed fair, the work was scheduled to our requirements and the work was accomplished efficiently and effectively. The primary worker was incredibly capable, focused and effective in all that he did. The project was clean and tidy the entire time. There were no missteps...We are thrilled with the outcome...better than expected.
Description of Work: Eric Smith Builder contracted to take out several brick planters from our sunroom and install a compatible brick flooring in their place, including some plastering, painting, and winterizing.
