The service person came and unclogged my toilet within 5min. He used a manual "snake" which took care of the clog. Then came the sticker shock. $441 for unclogging the toilet. I should have checked before calling Cartwright's. Never again.

The absolute WORST SERVICE TEAM IN NEW MEXICO. I called for a a furnace repair back in the beginning of November. The technician charged me almost $200 an hour, plus the $60 transportation fee, and charged me for a used power cord. The problem was not fixed. I kept in contact with the technician to try different things. The technician came back down because there was a 30-day guarantee on work and found that my filters were dirty. He cleaned those out and kept in contact with me as to whether or not it corrected the problem. It did not. He then ordered parts which took several weeks to come in, charge me an additional $200 an hour plus the $60 transportation fee (even though there was a guarantee of service). When I asked him why it was going to cost me a total of over $600 to fix a furnace that is still not working, the office manager started yelling in the background that if I refuse to pay my bill that they would put a lien on my house in four days. at no point in time did I say I was refusing to pay my bill. Then she got on the phone and told me that it took a month and a half for me to pay my bill the first time around, when the bill was paid and my receipt was in hand at the time of service. Then she started accusing me of sitting around and avoiding my technician's phone calls, while it has been snowing. I work 13-hour shifts and gave my technician as well as the office staff my father's phone number if I was ever unable to be reached. The office manager continued on with telling me that it was my fault that my furnace isn't fixed and continued speaking down to me as if I weren't going to pay my bill. Then when I said I will not pay her, I will pay my technician because I didnt want to speak to her anymore, I paid and he had the audacity to tell me that "if the payment didn't go through he would go ahead and give me a call", while the office manager is still yelling in the background that she was going to put a lien on my home. Everybody, with this company is extremely unprofessional, lazy, and has a ridiculous lack of customer service. Avoid this company like the plague.

Everyone is very nice.....But. They charged about $175 just to come out and look at the system. The maintenance work took about 30 minutes, minimal parts, and the charge was about $750. I definitely felt taken advantage of, but I figured, OK, at least the heating system is in good shape. But then my heating system started leaking a few days later. The leak was apparently caused indirectly by the maintenance work, because gunk fouled a component; this happens, not that surprising, but I should have been warned. At that point I called a different plumbing company to fix this. This other company (TLC Plumbing) charged only about $460 including a part and about 30 minutes of labor. The TLC technician also explained a lot about how the heating system works which was very helpful.

The first guy came on a Saturday afternoon, spent about an hour working, and couldn't free the clog. Said he would return Tues morning (Monday was a holiday). I waited until 10am, no phone call, so called the dispatcher. She said my plumber was off that morning! I asked her to send another plumber ASAP! The second guy came an hour later and cleared the clog in 5 minutes.

Our A/C quit working in the middle of July. I used Angie's List for the first time to find a repair service company. When I called Cartwright's they made me an appointment for the next day and told what charges to expect upfront for the service call. The Service Technician was was on time, courteous, and professional. He diagnosed problem quickly and explained what was wrong and the cost of the repair. He was able to source the needed part for the repair the same day by making another 40 mile round trip and stayed late to complete the repair on a Friday evening. Needless to say we were very happy to have our A/C working again and the repair cost was much lower than we thought it could have been . We were highly pleased with the service and would recommend Cartwright's to anyone in need of HVAC work.

Since 2013, I've chosen to use Cartwright's on behalf of ownership of Canyon Village Apartments, exclusively, for our Property. Further, I request to have Mario as our main technician, having developed a working relationship with him on behalf of Cartwright's, to service both our HVAC and plumbing issues. When he hasn't been available, we've had other techs, but Mario knows our property very well and any issues that have come up. The few other techs we've had were likewise efficient but Mario exceeds them. With 130+ apartments and townhomes to maintain for the benefit of the residents, we work to keep everyone as happy as possible and that means professional, prompt service, on-call, from all vendors. We have had, since 2013, calls for AC replacements, AC airhandler repairs and replacements, large water heater repairs/replacements and regular plumbing issues when our staff was on vacation. Cartwright's has consistently responded to calls for service and Mario has kept us informed about parts he may need, return times, etc. Further, he's taken the time to explain the work to be done, the work that was done and how something has broken and what to do to avoid it otherwise. In dealing with the office staff at Cartwright's, which is infrequent during the year, they've been professional and courteous as well. Our Management company doesn't allow perks or other benefits from vendors to property Managers, so this is an unsolicited review. If, for some reason, Cartwright's work quality and professionalism slipped, I would edit this review to reflect that. But we've been satisfied with their service, very pleased with Mario's work and expect this to continue.
Description of Work: For this review, the work was a hydronic HVAC system in which the blower wouldn't go. The tech arrived the same day, assessed the problem and provided the part, installed and got the system running.

Ed showed up promptly, inspected the job, explained his diagnosis, explained in detail my options and put together an estimate of costs of repair. After I accepted the estimate and authorized the work, Ed left briefly to get the needed parts and returned a short time later. He worked quickly and his work and demeanor was friendly and professional. When I need HVAC work in the future, I will call Ed and Cartwright's first. I recommend them to anyone in need of their services.

My wife and I have been customers of Cartwright?s Heating & Cooling for four years, and during that time, Ed Romero has been our radiant heat/boiler service technician. For most of that time our radiant heat system worked fine, and required only minor repairs and seasonal maintenance. Unfortunately that changed this past year when our system failed, plaguing us with runaway heat. It was a complex problem and between the failed valves, broken thermostats, and mismarked floor zones, it took an expert to troubleshoot the entire system and get it back on line. Ed Romero did just that. He not only repaired our heating system, he mapped and marked the zones and wires so it can be easily maintained going forward. That kind of professionalism is rare in today?s world, and is highly appreciated by befuddled customers. I might add that Ed always arrived at his scheduled time, or telephoned well in advance if he was going to detained with another client. Thanks Ed, and thank you, Cartwright?s Heating & Cooling! Ed?s patience and exceptional customer service make him a standout in his field and a professional we can recommend with the utmost confidence. Joe & Carol M. February 5, 2015

I called them because the hot water tank was leaking. I was going out of town for a week in two days and didn't have time to get other estimates. I used another company to replace a 40 gallon hot water heater at my Mom's the next week. They used the same brand and hauled away the old one for $950. I think I was taken advantage of by Cartwright's.

They provided terrible and unreliable service. They used their visual camera and stuck it down the hole where the toilet sits and told me that they hit a "black spot". Ah, yes I knew that before he arrived that the clean out from outside to the house needed to be snaked, but he insisted the pipes in the backyard needed to be replaced and said it would be $3200.00 if we did it using Cartwrights, but he (Greg) could do it as a "side job" and it would only cost us $1000.00. The following day we had another plumber come out in the snow and rain and snake from the outside clean out to the house and the problem was solved for $265.00. To top it off the customer was my 90-year-old Grandfather that Greg from Cartwrights proceeded to "rip-off". I will never use them again and do not recommend their company.

I used them a year ago in November. I had to have carpet and tiles removed after the huge problems they caused. We have used them for years. I didn't realize they had been sold to someone else. I had two outdoor faucets that were dripping a little bit. The plumber came and he said that the reason they are dripping is because the pressure valve is old and needed to be replaced. He worked for two or three hours on this pressure valve which happened to be above the main water heater out in the little room off the front patio. A couple of days later, I noticed the carpet in my hall was damp. I called my son and he came in. This was on Thanksgiving day. He saw that where this pressure valve had been installed, the water was shooting right straight up in the vent above the water heater which was draining down through the bathroom wall, under the tile and tub and seeping out into the hall. I called them back and they sent an emergency man out. He said it was terrible. The man had not welded anything properly and he fixed it. The following day, the owner of the company came out to assess the damage. He was rude, angry and he did not even speak to me, like it was my fault. A week later, they brought in huge fans for the bathroom and the hall. They felt they might have to tear the wall down in my bathroom, but they were able to dry it. I had those roaring fans in my house for ten days. I rang the owner and told him, he needed to pay for my tile and carpet as they needed to be replaced. He initially said he would pay for half of the damage. I told him, he was responsible as it was his plumbers fault. He told me he would pay it. I got an estimate and faxed it to them. They said it was no problem and they would pay for it. I had the work done and I paid the bill. I faxed the bill to Cartwright's Plumbing Heating and they have refused to pay for any of it. The quality of the work was awful as the plumber was incapable of doing a welding job. The owner is a rude, nasty man.

The plumber who came was very nice, however it took him 4 hours and 6 attempts to solder the water line. He did not have a clue and I felt like paying for training on the job. I suggested to use a more modern approach by using compression repair. He claimed he did not have any on the truck, and he would have to get them in town, whcih we would have to pay for him to get. Considering the fact that we live about 20 minutes outside of Santa Fe, I decided he should solder. After 4 hours he was done and we got this outrageous bill of 400$, basically paying for his incompetence. When I complained to Cartwright, I was told they did not care and this is what we have to pay. So never use Cartwright

The schedulers were quick to try and set up a time however Cartwright was only able to give a 2 hour window of time, which didn't work for me as this was a pre-purchase home inspection and I had to coordinate with my Realtor. I was finally able to coordinate a time and then had to met quickly at the house since they were already doing a job in the area (Los Alamos). The young man they sent was the best part of this experience (Mario). He listened to my concerns, visually checked out what he could from the crawl space then proceeded to scope the sewer line from the room. I was a little disappointed with that approach since I specifically asked (per what was advertised on Cartwright's website) if they could scope from the drain line, not the roof vent. I was told that they could by the phone operator, however Mario stated his equipment could not bend enough to check the lines starting at the drains. The disappointing part in that is that I had lined up another sewer inspector who I specifically didn't go with because he forewarned me about this issue. I went with Cartwright since I thought their inspection would yield a more complete inspection, however it didn't. My other disappointment was that they charged me their extra $48 Los Alamos trip charge yet they were already in Los Alamos performing work, so that's just additional profit. Lastly their prices were high. The inspection ran $275 and did not include a DVD or video of the inspection (I believe that was an extra $30-$50), were as just a month ago I had the same inspection done on and it was only $120 for the sewer inspection and that included a DVD. In total, Mario was at the house less than 1 hour.

They came and tried to correct the leak. It was better but still leaking so we asked that they replace the faucet. We wanted a particular brand so we were told it would be ordered and we scheduled a return visit for one week later. On the day they were to return, the plumber called and said the faucet was not in and rescheduled for a week later. On the day of the 2nd appointment, 1 1/2 hours after the scheduled time, Cartwrights called and said our plumber was called out on a "big job". They wanted to reschedule a third time but we insisted so another plumber was sent out arriving 3 hours after the scheduled time ... he did not have the right faucet saying he was just given something off the shelf. He also claimed that we would have to tear into the wall from the adjoining room to replace the faucet and it would cost $700.00 to $800.00 more. Bringing the cost to replace a leaky faucet to close to $1,000.00. We refused the service and called the Cartwright's office to complain ... we were told the owner would call since we were long-time customers. We never heard from anyone. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. Cartwright techniciens never measured the air pressure in the supply duct but measured the humidity in the living room generatet by two room humidifiers I bought which are running 24 hours per day on account of the bronchial problems of my wive. Cartwright is not able to get the humidifier working, after 3 years, according to Honeywell's specification Cartwright refuses to take the Honeywell humidifier back and refund the purchasing price and cost of the small claims court, total $ 2'509.69
Description of Work: Installation of a Honeywell whole house humidifier in decmber 2009. Due to the incompetence of the cartwright technicians the humidifier has never worked properly. Likely reason is to high air pressure in the supply duct, exceedinig Honeywell's warranty value of 0.5 inch wc.
