We were thinking of doing this remodel work on our house for a long time. Finally, after saving enough money for the job we were searching for a good contractor to do the work. After reading the reviews [here] for Babcock construction we decided to go with them. The level of responsiveness from their company took us by surprise, they produced a detailed quote for the job within a few days and came over to our house to discuss it. We visited Richard's house and we were immediately impressed by the quality of their work. The work at our house was supervised by David Babcock and I really appreciated his attention to detail and punctuality. It was clear that was thinking about the job full time during the work. He would call me almost daily to discuss the progress and tell me the plan for the current day. We were prepared for a lengthy remodel of both spaces, but we were surprised that it took the Babcock guys only 4 weeks. They were showing up every single day on time and cleaning up at the end of each work day. The subcontractors they work with are among the best and most reliable in the Santa Fe area. I was really impressed by the schedule they have the subcontractors coming to my house and doing the work such that there were no interruptions or hang ups. They own a wood working shop and they made matching french doors for our sun room and a vanity cabinet for our master bathroom (similar to an online photo). As with any job there were a few surprises measurements/fitting errors, which they immediately addressed and offered solutions. To put it simply my interactions with Richard and David Babcock were always cordial and professional and we found their suggestions helpful and useful. I have done my share of home renovations projects on my own so I was worried about hiring a contractor to do the work. I found it extremely easy working with them, as they always provided suggestions, but never forced them onto us. I really enjoyed the flexibility they offered in terms of options in our renovation to accommodate our budget. In conclusion we really enjoy our newly-renovated space and we would hire Babcock construction to do any other home remodel in the future.

We haven't scheduled the work yet , waiting on the insurance claim and weather.

Very well. They ensure thoroughness is always a priority. Cleaned up every day. We could have not asked for better results. Anytime a need any projects around the house, I will always call them.

Very pleased with their work. They weren't the lowest bid but they were the most professional. The responded promptly, kept in touch and followed up. The concrete finisher was a perfectionist; I couldn't be more pleased with his work. Clean up was great.

Like all renovations, this one had some surprises along the way, but with the help of Richard and David Babcock, we navigated all of them as efficiently as possible and I'm very happy with the results. Add to the situation that I was not on site for most of the work, so all of our communication was by phone, email and text, and this project could have been truly awful. I had to have a very high level of trust in Babcock Construction and their subcontractors, and they did not let me down. Communication was great, they were responsive, helpful, trustworthy and reliable. Their work is very high quality, the kitchen cabinets are gorgeous and the plaster work is the best I've ever seen. I've had the chance to speak with others who have worked with Richard and David repeatedly over the years, and we agreed that we wouldn't hesitate to call on this capable contractor again. Very highly recommended to everyone.

Babcock's people were meticulous. They did quality work. Most of the tiles were not drilled out, but patched. The patching was so effective that it is nearly impossible to tell that they were ever cracked. Their people are like skilled craftsmen who restore old paintings in museums. They moved the furniture carefully.

Background: This is my 5th home and I have had remodeling projects in the past. In this case the remodel was isolated to the kitchen and one bedroom that we wanted a shower installed. In addition we were considering removing carpet from 2 bedrooms and replacing with tile. Babcock Construction is a family owned business started in 1968 and together with the founder, his 3 sons are involved in the business as both craftsman and the business end. They have a conveniently located office/shop in Santa Fe. It is difficult not to be impressed with their facility. It is large, clean and contains many sub shops for cabinet making, carpentry and other typical construction type shops. The difference to others I have seen is the appearance as everything is spotlessly clean and organized. That impressed me as an introduction to the company. When they arrived for the estimate, all of the company brothers and their father arrived and they provided their vision based on a brief outline of what I was looking for. I was immediately impressed with what they were saying and more importantly, how they would do the work. They have various craftsman on staff with the exception of plumbers and electricians however; they have vetted through the years several of each and Babcock had them come to the house for an estimate. Responsiveness: At all stages, they were available to answer any questions. This included weekends or evening hours. One of the sons (Steve) was designated as the site foreman and he was there every day overseeing and applying his trade for both detailed tile work, painting, carpentry and refinishing several doors. Early on it became apparent that based on what I was seeing, I wanted to add to my initial project. Steve would tell me what could be done, provide an estimate (after consultation with his brother Richard) and leave it at that. There was never any encouragement or pressure from Babcock to have them perform the additional work. Quality: The quality is unlike any contractor I have used in the past. Their attention to detail is nothing short of remarkable. They moved and covered furniture each time it was needed. With any construction project dust and debris are inherent. They did their level best to mitigate this issue everyday. At the conclusion of each workday, they were very thorough in cleaning up their specific location that had been worked on that day and neatly put away their tools in the designated area (garage). Never did I arrive home to find a "mess". Dependability: The crew arrived each morning without fail at 7:30AM. There was a minimum of 3 workers but often times up to 5. They actually worked on a federal holiday. At the end of each day I was given an update on what had been accomplished and the schedule for the next day or beyond in some cases. Professionalism: Without exception all of the craftsman maintained the highest level of professionalism that I have seen on any construction site. These folks went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied in all that they did which included asking how I liked the progress, recently completed job and many other items of interest to me. Price: Being somewhat of a "miser" I was always on top of the price for each project be it the base contract or the many add ons that I contracted for. In the end, the "you get what you pay for" axiom proved to be true. Never did I feel I was charged more than was reasonable. Summary: Babcock provided a detailed professional result while keeping the customers needs at the forefront of all that they did. Their degree of professional service is above reproach. The quality I am convinced, can not be overstated. The bottom line is that you can not go wrong contracting with them. You will find customer service, communication and quality is at the top of the list in all that they do. was

They were responsive to inquiry and instruction, punctual and thorough. They finished details on their own initiative, such as relaying walkway flagstone upon completion and putting surroundings into attractive order.

He cam highly recommended from our architect. They are a family owned business. They are very pleasant to work with . They are very responsive to questions and they actually have good ideas about how to do things a little bit different then the architect had done. And it turns out better then the architect had originally designed. They were on time everyday without fail.

My architect chose them and they are family owned, three-generation contractor. They are very excellent with their work. They take priced in their work. They clean up after themselves. They did a major remodeling of our house. It was probably five months of work and they were always on time. They were here when they said they were going to be here. They did the job they said they were going to do. I couldn't recommend them any higher. Their prices were comparable to the prices in the area. They were very responsive. When we called them, they were here within ten minutes. They were very professional.
