Description of Work: I have a steep, 600ft. plus gravel and base coarse driveway that I have been tending to for the last 30 years. It was time to pave it as snow removal, wear and tear on cars, maintenance costs, etc. were overwhelming and I can now afford to do it. I did my homework, got 3 written bids, checked all references, went to see samples of the work, etc. and chose a local family company--AFJ Paving which serves Santa Fe and northern NM. Not only were there references superb but their bid was the lowest, although all were close. They were attentive in the bid and planning process, clearly wanted to please and satisfy, and were very professional. We set a date...one day to do the road bed preparation and one day to lay the asphalt. They were timely and totally prepared with equipment and personnel to be efficient. They worked hard, kept me in the loop, and finished in a timely manner. They exceeded my expectations and actually did a number of "extras" that should improve the longevity of the drive At this point almost a month later I am thrilled with our new asphalted driveway. It is a pleasure to drive on and has maintained through hot temps > 90 and a few rain showers. We still haven't had a downpour. I wish I had done this years sooner. I unequivocally recommend AFJ Paving...Marvin and his family are a pleasure to work with.
