I have stopped by to get very small amounts of carpet and ceramic tile.for small projects including re-doing our dog's house. Every time I stopped by, the gentleman working treated me as if I bought a million dollars worth of product. Some places would brush you off if you only spent $5 or $10. The last trip I made to their store, I needed some ceramic tiles to go under our little wood burning fire pit on our front porch. I only needed about 4 square feet of tile, he spent time helping me pick a color, then gave it to me...free of charge! We are going to replace all of our floors next summer. There is no question who I am going to purchase from. I have been to several other stores owned by other people and they don't come close to the professional helpful service you get at Barnett Carpets!

Barnett's crew of three initially installed the new flooring in late March -- one full day to install subflooring, one full day to install the vinyl. Upon completion the crew boss told me to let them know if we noticed any bubbling or had other problems. At the end of April we returned to the house and found that there had indeed been bubbling of the material in several places. When notified, Barnett indicated they would order the necessary supplies (large hypodermic needles and injectable glue) and take care of the problem. The materials arrived on schedule -- about a 3-4 day wait, as I recall -- and their guys showed up again to fix the bubbling. However, they appeared very late in the afternoon, about 4:15, and left promptly at 5. In retrospect, we think they rushed the repairs and could have been more meticulous. At any rate, when they were done, all the bubbled areas were covered with sheets of plywood and weighted to be sure the injected adhesive would adhere correctly. Within a couple days it was clear that some of the bubbles were still present and others had appeared as well. Notified Barnett and told them we would contact them again at our next visit. In early June we returned and found far more bubbles that we had seen in April. We contacted Barnett and were assured they would take care of it; in due course they were able to schedule their crew for the last week of June. By the time that date arrived, the bubbles had multiplied throughout the house -- we counted over 150! When their crew arrived and saw the situation, they concluded that they had not used enough adhesive during the original installation, so they spent a full day removing the baseboards again, pulling up all the vinyl, reapplying adhesive, and puttling the material down again. At the end of the day they again said to let them know if we had any further problems. We waited for a few weeks to see what would happen, and were somewhat relieved to find only a few bubbles and one small area in a bathroom where the material was loose. However, we also found that in moving our refrigerator they had gouged an area of vinyl. Fortunately we still had a few large scraps, so we arranged for them to return for a FOURTH time to try to get a satisfactory installation. They came back in late August and did repairs on the various things we identified. Checking things the next day, we decided the gouges in the kitchen were repaired satisfactorily. The last few bubbles, however, were still somewhat visible, and the loose piece had not been pressed down and rolled, so we did that ourselves. By this time we were thoroughly disenchanted, and simply did not want to have their workmen come out yet again, so we settled for an end result that was only about 95% satisfactory, NOT considering the inconvenience and frustration of having all this drag on for months. Our view, therefore, is that while Barnett's products are of good quality, and their responsiveness when notified of problems was satisfactory, their installers were anything but satisfactory. I don't know if they were simply unfamiliar with the techniques for installing the particular product we selected, or what the problem was, but the entire experience was sufficiently frustrating that Barnett is not the company I would choose for any further carpet or flooring needs. I cannot imagine anything they could say or do that would give us confidence that we would have a better experience the next time.
Description of Work: Contracted for Barnett to install fairly high end roll vinyl flooring to replace carpet and padding damaged by freeze-related water leaks in our summer home. Work included installation of 1/4" plywood subflooring to provide as smooth a surface as possible for the vinyl product. Also included removal and replacement of baseboards, toilets.
