Took a long time because installer (Polar) was not familiar enough with the equipment and finally had to call manufacturer to learn exact sequence of button pushing needed to start furnace (the automatic air conditioning part of the system had worked perfectly ). Furnace has been working perfectly ever since. I knocked down the price and professionalism categories because, since they had installed the system initially, this should not have been a problem, and, though two men were there for more than an hour, I felt they shouldn't have charged the regular fee. Still, they were very thorough, very pleasant, and the system they installed is excellent.

My furnace suddenly went out. I knew I was on borrowed time since it was about 40 years old. I picked Panda from Angie's list magazine. They came when they said. The furnace was not worth trying to fix (as expected). They replaced the furnace with one they recommended. They were fast, polite and fair.

The owner of Polar, Bob George, told me the installation would take about four hours. His two employees arrived at 9 am and did not leave until 6:30 pm. The Polar employees did not introduce themselves when they arrived, and they only became aware that the furnace to be installed was larger than the previous one when they opened the packing box of the new furnace. One of the workers called Bob George because he was confused that the furnace was larger than the previous one. Bob George, the owner of Polar, was aware of this but he had not told his employees who were going to install it in my house. It became obvious as the day progressed that the employees did not have the proper tools to install the furnace. They had to leave twice to purchase appropriate materials and tools. Additionally, despite my very clear directive not to damage the hardwood floors, they failed to measure correctly, made a jagged cut (due to improper tools), and permanently damaged the hardwood floor in my living room. Also, they improperly trimmed the metal lining inside the furnace opening leaving a jagged, sharp metal edge. This is not only dangerous but it leaves a one inch gap between the furnace lining and the crawl space, thus allowing cold air to get in. This also means the grate does not sit flush with the floor. They left my living room covered in sawdust and 4 inch nails were left throughout my house. They left black fingerprint and handprint smudges on the white walls of my living room in the area where they were working. They borrowed my work gloves from the kitchen table without asking me. They left the job without properly installing the thermostat. Bob George, the owner, was rude and belligerent when I spoke to him on the phone and requested that he review the poor quality of work and the mess his employees left. He raised his voice to me and refused to review the work of his employees.
