Initially the receptionist was energetic and took my details and promised a call back the next day, which did, but after discussing the work and sending pics and follow up to this, I have not heard back from Joe's Plumbing. My opinion is that they are not interested in 1 to 2 hour jobs.
Description of Work: Called for estimate on work to be performed on my whole-house water filtration system. I was told I would be contacted the following day, which I was. I then discussed the work I needed to be carried out and we agreed to have me send a photo, which I did, and I would be contacted. Never heard back, even after a follow up I had no response.

They got everything done in a timely manner, but they messed up the welding or soldering. They did not put in the vent pipe correctly so my water heater kept shutting down on a weekend. They had to raise it up so it would not shut off the water heater. He gave us a nice deal. They did mess up those couple of things, but they did take care of it. They came right away. I would probably use them again in the future because I know them. They are very nice people and a nice crew.
Description of Work: I used Joe's Plumbing to put in a filtration system because the water is nasty out here. They also put in a UV system and a new tankless water heater.

They came out and they were prompt. I don't think it was the most through check-up but what they did was okay. We didn't have any parts to replace. I wouldn't use them again. I've had better inspections by other companies. I tried that one because it was so cheap.

He could not reach far enough in to find the pipe. He could not fit through crawlspace in backyard. He showed me the twisted pipe end. It looked like a Dairy Queen or swirly frozen yougurt. He had to leave for another job. This took a long time, but he said he could cancel the rest of his appointments for the day and work on this. The price he quoted me was for $450-500. I called my regular plumber, who did the job at a much more reasonable rate, although I would not have needed that service if the pipe had not een so severely damaged. The second plumber showed me how it was supposed to look, and it was like a larger metal drinking straw or conduit. On the plus side, he did leave a new faucet and he did only charge me the Angie's List previously agreed on price. He did spend a lot of time in the cab of the truck, talking on his cellphone. He seemed to be an okay guy.

They were not very responsive to me. We ran into quite a few scheduling issues. When they did come out, the person who came out said the job was going to take longer than the time he had and he ended up leaving without doing anything. They then rescheduled with me twice and never showed up. I was very surprised with this experience as I have never had anything like this happen to me before.

I contacted Joe's Plumbing in December 2014 and made an appt for someone to come and give me an estimate after looking at the work I needed. They gave me a date and I explained that I would not be home until 1 pm. During the initial conversation, I stated to the owner that I had read on Angies List the complaints and stated that I understand that emergencies happen since I was a business owner for 22 years. However, my experience has turned out to be similar to others. Any appts I have made have been made with at least 2 weeks advance notice. The day of the initial meeting, Daniel showed up 2 hours early; fortunately I was not to far from home finishing my previous appt. early. I agreed with what Daniel stated about the job and the pricing was what I had estimated the cost would be. However, the day of installation, Daniel arrived 4 hours late. He informed me that he had a previous appointment that had been already scheduled but he did not give me this information when he said he would be at my home at 9 am on the day of installation. I had called the company twice that day looking for him as I had plans for later in the day and was not sure the job would be done in time. The company was very kind and picked up the toilets I had purchased and I was able to keep my plans. The toilets that were installed are water saving toilets, however they do not connect properly and I have to flush more than once or hold the button down for awhile. Daniel stated that their work is guaranteed but clearly Daniel is not familiar with how this type of toilet works. The hose bid Daniel installed is so large that when I try to turn on the outside faucet, my hands srcape the stucco on my home and the skin peels off. I called and made an appointment for today 3/3/15 to have the toilets flushing ajusted and I don't know how the faucet can be corrected. It is now 8 pm and nobody showed, nor did they call. I called 3 times today starting after 4pm. This is a business that is located appoximately 1/2 mile from my home. Now I feel I have to contract another plumber to correct the guaranteed work that has been done so the inspectors from Rio Rancho Water Co can inspect my toilets and see if I can get another hose bid that will not peel the skin off my hands. Clearly, the family members employed at Joe's Plumbing are unreliable and very possibly quite inexperienced. I feel it is difficult to explain away so many similar experiences. I had hoped I would not have to write a review like this however, I spent the entire day waiting for an unreliable company to correct their guaranteed work and will now have to spend time waiting for another company to arrive to take care of my issues and pay for the service again. This has turned into an expensive experience in both time and money for me. I am a senior and can not afford this type of experience. It does not seem as though Joe's Plumbing has much in the way of respect for the customers time nor do they have the ability to gaurantee their work when they do not show up. I do not feel I should have to work around them again as it feels as though my time is not of value to them.

To address the issue of the warranty on the toilet, you should have let us install the High efficiency Proflo toilets like we advised. Then we would have been able to provide a warrantee, if you decide to purchase your own than we do NOT cover that. We also went out of our way to pick the toilets up for you so that would be one less thing for you to worry about. As for the hose bib it is a standard bib, if it scrapes your hands that is due to your house being re-stuccoed so many times previously. We assumed you do not want frozen pipes so that is why the bib is short. We are very sorry that you feel we did not meet your expectations. We put our best in the work we do as well as being professional and courteous to any of our customers. You are still a valued customer and we would be more than happy to offer our services again to you.

I'm going to be brief; I'd rather not get into it. A flood in the basement had touched the furnace (in the crawl space) and it needed repair, or replacement. Richard came, assessed, and insisted in a pretty aggressive way that I should get a totally new furnace, and not try to repair the old one. I found my interaction with him... not good. I ended up choosing to have them fix the old one. They tried but were unsuccessful, coming 3 or 4 times. They would come without calling, meaning that I would leave work (I work in mental health, often with serious cases, so this was really problematic) to let them in the house. They continued to tell me that I should stop trying to repair the unit (they first put in a new motor, then a new motherboard), but replace it with a new one. We all agreed the unit was complex and highly technological, and so for awhile, I sympathized with their attempts (failed) to fix the unit) To jump to the end, after complaining to Ray about his team's really poor communications (with him apologizing, but never fixing the communications issue, or, communicating well with me himself), the team was unable to fix the unit. My experience had become so bad (emotionally/personally) that I simply did not want them in my house, let alone have them put in a new unit. It took two weeks (in very cold weather) but I found another company that had the expertise. After the new company came, it became clear that Joe's Plumbing had thrown away a key part of the old motherboard, a part needed to be transferred to the new "motherboard", for it to function. In other words, to put it bluntly, Joe's Plumbing did not have the expertise to fix the heater, but were unable to tell me this, or, did not know their limitations. And, they communicated in ways that I found highly unprofessional (and at times, just weird). And, they came without calling. To their credit, at the end, when I complained, Ray agreed to take $100 off the final bill (money which I had to pay the other company, to re-order the part that Joe's had thrown away). It would have been much more ethical if Richard had simply told me that he did not know how to fix the heater - the fact was, another company was able to fix it. A very very unpleasant experience, unfortunately. That was my experience. I am trying to be fair, and not judge - but I could not ethically recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: Assessed the old furnace; attempted to sell me a new one; attempted to fix the old one.

The $599 I paid for the deal was covered and then I received a bill for an additional $800 in addition to the deal price. After trying to find out how much extra I would be paying for the upgrade via email and I never heard anything back from the company. Finally the owner's son Richard called me ( on the day of the installation). We had a very brief conversation. He said that they were bringing a 40 gallon tank. I told him that I had requested a 50 gallon tank and was willing to pay 'a little' more for the upgrade. I never was informed that I would be paying over 'double' the 'Big Deal' ( from $599to $1400) If I knew that was the case, I would have immediately canceled the project and contacted another plumber (btw: the replacement was not needed imminently. I was trying to be proactive. That sure worked out well!!!)They came 4 hours late and I received a bill for more than double what I had anticipated for the upgrade to the larger tank in addition my deal. They wanted to argue with me regarding the warranty on labor, which was listed in the deal as six years for parts and three years for labor, but they tried to tell me it was only a one year warranty for the labor. I wasn't happy with the way communication was handled and am certainly not happy with the extra $800 costs for the upgrade, I felt like I was overcharged and want others to know of the issues I have had with the extra costs, I expected to pay more for the upgrade to the larger water heater, but did not expect to pay $800 more. The work they did was fine and I like the unit, but I feel like this was a bait and switch and my questions weren't answered clearly when I had asked them. Update: I contacted the company this past Monday (Feb 23) about this issue and a 'heated' argument insued. Richard (owner's son?) was very hostile and insisted that he had informed me of the upgrade costs. I vigorously protested that this was 'not' the case at all. I told him that I would have canceled the project immediately if I had known about this exorbitant increase in cost (again more than double the original deal). I was appalled by his 'bullying' tactics and his general demeanor. He even had the gall to claim that Angie's List was at fault for this situation. Needless to say, I was dumbfounded by this turn of events. The conversation was terminated at this point.

Well i guess when it rains it pours.this is 3 rd negative review for our small family business trying to help our community by offering great deals,as i am pretty fed up my self with people trying to take advantage of us.Sir that morning i had the whole office and two of our best tecs listing in on our 8:30am conversation.i told them i wanted them to learn how to save some time, by us and you being on the same page..as far as the job scope.well they all heard our conversation and our agreement as what to pick up from the warehouse.i suggested that you up grade the old water supply lines and shut off,a expansion tank which is now required by coad,a drip leg,new gas flex, gas stop, earthquake straps and a 50 gal not the 40 the deal comes with, all customized to fit your particular installation.we were their for about 5 hour's which is NOT usually the case on a water heater swap out...you did sign a completely satisfied invoice and gave us a check for the balance...Sir if it makes you fell better you got what you paid for, what was a excellent water heater and especially the installation.i strongly recommend you reconsider your negative review. We are a highly reputable company and i guarantee you could not of made a better decision than to have Joes Plumbing install your water heater.Fell free to call for any Plumbing heating or A C service replacement or repair...

On January 12, 2015, I purchased the "Big Deal" that was supposed to provide us with a gas furnace "fully installed" for $1499 from Joe's Plumbing. What I really got was completely and utterly ripped off by Joe's Plumbing. Joe's Plumbing sent a couple of young techs to the house and they removed my existing, old furnace and cleaned up the debris around it with a total actual work time of about 10-15 minutes. The techs then told me that they were going to have to wait for their boss, Richard, to arrive to assess the "additional work" that was going to need to be done to install the furnace. When Richard finally arrived he started giving me a verbal laundry list of the things that were going to have to be done to truly "fully install" the furnace and in the end we were looking at an additional $1000 to $1200. Needless to say, I was quite taken aback by this additional amount and was quite sure that the deal that I purchased stated "full installation". I told Richard that I'd get back to him about the additional work then made the huge mistake of allowing them to bring in the new furnace which they left at the house. I will fully acknowledge that I know NOTHING about plumbing or furnaces and don't doubt that the "additional work" was probably necessary. However, as a layman, I read the details in the Big Deal purchase and assumed "fully installed" means "fully installed" and that was what I paid for. After further reviewing the details of the Big Deal, I contacted Joe's Plumbing and let them know that I simply didn't have the additional thousand plus dollars budgeted to get the furnace actually "fully installed" and asked if they'd come get their furnace back. They immediately balked at this and claimed that they'd be hit with a "restocking fee". When I contacted Angie's List, they informed me that because I'd allowed Joe's Plumbing to remove the old furnace (which was prior to my finding out about all the additional costs), services had already begun. Angie's List also informed me that Joe's Plumbing was claiming that they'd already put in 4 hours of work on this job (when it was actually about 10-15 minutes) and that I'd signed a contract with Joe's Plumbing (which is patently false as I never saw let alone signed a single piece of paper). I then contacted Richard directly and asked him if there was anyway that we could work something out between us to keep things from getting ugly. I would have been more than willing to pay him for an hour of his service fee for the few minutes that it took his two techs to pull out the old furnace if he'd come get the still brand new and completely sealed furnace and refund the rest of my money. Richard was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and talked over me the entire time I was trying to have this conversation with him. He kept throwing strangely irrelevant things out during this conversation like "he wasn't going to lose his license for me" and that I was "trying to get something for nothing" when neither of these statements had anything to do with what I was asking him for. I repeatedly told him that I had no experience or knowledge with any of these matters and that I simply wanted to extricate myself from this mess with the minimum of financial loss. Instead, he continued to rant and rave about irrelevant matters to include claiming that Angie's List got the majority of the money that I paid for the Big Deal and that I could file any review or complaints that I wanted but that it wouldn't change a thing. Richard's last comment appears to have been the most accurate statement that he made to us. In the end, we paid $1500 to have the old furnace removed and now have a $5-600 furnace, still in the wrapper, laying on the floor of one of our bedrooms no closer to being "fully installed" than it was the day I purchased this "Big Deal". Do NOT purchase any Big Deals from or use the services of Joe's Plumbing unless you want to get ripped off like we have been. In my personal estimation, they are a classic "bait and switch" operation and you will NOT get what you think you're getting for the price you agreed to. This was a very, very bad and costly experience for my family and I.

Hi,well after dealing with this and you threatening us to not be "gentlemen" about this, your words? Im not surprised of the F rating you gave us for something you tried to take advantage of a small business trying to provide people with awesome deals for heating and plumbing.Im sorry you have no regard for the time and material of our 3 man crew.I would like to say for being in this business for 16 years myself iv ran into investors such as you told me,you just picked the house up of an auction. As you no this house is in non liveable conditions.as we took the old heater out ALL the duct work fell out as it was s ll Styrofoam cut outs.the "Big Deal Does not include all new house duct work, running new electricity, safely, adding a 4 inch vent we couldent use a 3 inch safely, and no upper or lower combustion intake air.o yea the gas meter was pulled.we had to have a NM inspector out to pass everything to get the gas back on.Sir since you were a angies list customer we told you only around 1000. Extra to get your gas on run all 10 feet of new duct work hooking all we could save which wasn't much.a new register with a boot all new venting with flashing new upper and lower combustion, with flashings.new electricity up to code.and alot more im sure as every house does.you have pretty much a barn you bought and expect things for nothing.you told me you worked for the government for year's before retiring,I would of thought you would smarter than that. Thanks Joes Plumbing.Richard 😃

The provider was scheduled for 1/22/15, but had to reschedule due to weather conditions. The new date scheduled was met. Installation of the new toilet was performed in a professional manner. Provider asked if he could dispose of the old toilet and was told to do so.
Description of Work: Provider removed the old toilet and installed a new one.

Provider vacuumed the furnace, checked how the furnace was operating and saw a flame roll out of the buner cabinet. Provider installed a new filter as advertised but a cabon monoxide detector was not installed. The home owner advised the provider not to install the carbon monoxide detector since a new one was recently replaced by the home owner. Provider tested for carbon monoxide in the house and advised the home owner that there was a small leakage coming through and suggested that the furnace be replaced.
Description of Work: Furnace tune up and installed new filter. Provider pulled 5 ppm carbon monoxide in the house and 70-78 in the vent pipe. Provider wrote out two quotes to install new furnace, one for 80% standard cost of $2,091.12 and the 95% high efficiency for $2,576.57.

The installation went very well. The installer was great. He cleaned the whole thing after installation, no mess, no bother. I am very happy with the new toilet. It does everything a toilet is supposed to do!
Description of Work: This was a Big Deal purchase for $199 for a New Toilet Installed.
