I contacted Jay via a link from Angie's List to her email. She responded quickly and was very receptive to my idea. I only had a picture of the style that I wanted. She came and measured and sent me a bid. We worked easily via email with refining the picture I had to work within the space I had. She works full time at another job but still managed to get a beautiful fireplace surround built and delivered in 2 weeks. I can not begin to express how pleased I am with the quality of her workmanship. She also is very honest. She gave me an initial quote that I was happy with but when she contacted me about delivering the final product she let me know that she had over bid and reduced the price accordingly. Unfortunately not everyone is as honest. I will be hiring her for other work I have after the holidays. I hate to sound like a broken record but I am very thrilled with the quality of her work.
Description of Work: I had Jay build a fireplace surround and mantel.

We recently purchased a "short sale" home. One of the issues we faced was a missing drawer in the vanity of the master bathroom. We found Jay on Angie's List, and called to see if she could create a drawer to match the vanity. I took her 2 other drawers (one that was the same height, and another that was the same width as the missing drawer) and from that she determined the measurements to build the drawer we needed. She collaborated with us, recommending the type of wood to use, and spent a lot of time to make sure that she had all the information that she needed to do the job well. On her own, she added the needed runners on the side, and bought a matching drawer pull - the result was amazing! The quality of the drawer was better than the ones in the vanity and looked very professional. I wanted to finish it myself to match the cabinet in the bathroom, but she also took the initiative to find a suitable matching stain, and gave me extra scrap lumber so that I could experiment on the same kind of maple that she used to build the drawer front. She was fast, conscientious, notified me when it was ready, and the price was unexpectedly low. Our Realtor and others warned us that the cost to get a custom-made drawer was going to be cost prohibitive. Jay made it happen and we're so pleased!
Description of Work: Built a drawer to replace a missing one in bathroom vanity.

I love a challenge and am willing to go the extra mile to satisfiy a customer if they are willing to work with me and my schedule. It was a pleasure. This whole process was great and we are very happy with the results. The communication from Froggy Builder was excellent and she was very careful to match all our requirements. My mother has a vintage Danish modern desk and the printer stand really looks like it is from the same line (except that the wood in this piece looks nicer). When I sent the sketch to Jay, I just wanted something functional and decent looking, a notch above plastic cubbies from an office store. What she built for us is far more polished and elegant than we ever thought it would be, the perfect size, and strong enough to hold a big multi-function printer. She is a fine craftsman and we almost feel guilty using something this nice to store paper.
Description of Work: I contacted Jay Gourley / Froggy Builder to ask if they could build a printer stand for my mother. We needed something that could fit exactly on top of a 2-drawer file cabinet and hold multiple reams of paper. We needed the measurements to be exact, and wanted the wood finish to match existing furniture. I drew a preliminary sketch of what I wanted and Jay asked all the necessary questions, explaining in detail how she would build it, what the materials, finishes and costs would be. She was kind enough to use wood she had left over from other projects to save us money on materials, so the cost was very low. The final product was better than we could ever have hoped it would be.
