Direct Access Automated Gates

Dana and his wife did an excellent installation of two gate motors, a solar collector with battery, and open/close controls for our existing metal gate. He found that the gate needed to be modified, and he was able to do the modification on the spot. He spot painted the welds to prevent rust, and I got the gates powder coated later. His estimate was good, and the price was very fair. The finished installation is excellent. Almost a year later, one of my gate hinges failed. Dana was able to come out and fix the broken gate within a couple days after I called, and he charged a very reasonable price for the repair. I will definitely call him again for future work. We are very pleased with the work.

Dana did a fantastic job replacing our automated gate controllers and updating our gates for our storage businesses (X3). He was responsive when many gate companies were not. He showed up on time to give us estimates and completed work as scheduled. Dana is knowledgeable about required code and made sure that our gates, loops and systems were up-to-date and up to code. I called Dana because we were (and still are) having a problem with people damaging our driveway with heavy construction trucks (there is a lot of construction in our area right now), and we are also having a problem with trespassers joy-riding around our yard (we are currently the last house at the top of a hill). We wanted an automated gate to prevent people from having access to our property. When I called to set up the appointment, I told Dana over the phone that there was a good chance that we might not actually wind up having the gate installed, because our driveway is short and there is a ten foot easement where we live, which might cause a problem cosmetically since the gate would need to be so far up the driveway. He said he didn't mind coming over anyway to check it out. When he got here and realized that our driveway is sloped, he said that the gate would need to be raised up on a bed of concrete to level it out, which would cause even more of a cosmetic problem since our driveway is so short. Once he realized that the gate most likely wouldn't work for us, he stayed for awhile and brainstormed, trying to come up with solutions to keep people from turning around in our driveway -- solutions that would not utilize his services in any way and that would therefore not make him any money. But he spent his time trying to help us anyway. We continue to have a problem with people using our driveway in ways that they shouldn't (i.e., it's not just people who are lost and need a place to turn around). If we do decide to get the gate after all, we will definitely call Dana. His prices were reasonable, and he tried so hard to help us.

This is the second time we have used Direct Access/Automated Gates in the past year and each time we have been impressed by Dana Bartlett's expertise, swift response, and professionalism. On this occasion we saw a large white truck back into our gate in an attempt to complete a U-turn in our cul-de-sac. The force of his reversing bent the swing arm of the electric gate, making it inoperable. I called Dana immediately and although he had had a long day in Santa Fe he stopped by our house to look at the damage. By mid-morning of the next day he was at work installing the replacement part, a job which involved a considerable amount of welding experience. There are very few companies in Albuquerque that deal in wrought iron automatic gates and our previous bad experience with a competitor made us wary of contacting an unknown installer. But the reviews of Direct Access on Angie's List reassured us that customers had posted very positive reviews of Dana's work. An added bonus is that Dana is also a genuinely nice guy, very pleasant to deal with. He gets our highest recommendations.

On time, on budget and good work

Everything was as planned. Dana came out and inspected for size and operation. Less than a week later it was installed. Labor covered for 1 year, opener for 2 years.

Friendly, on time, came up with the idea of using the same remotes to do both jobs. The old remotes we had always needed new batteries and cost three times as much as his.

Doug did an excellent job on a complicated project!!! The design was great and the execution was wonderful.

The owner was very responsive...called me back right away, got out to my house on the same day to look at my gate and called and came back to fix the gate when he said he would. I would definitely use Direct Access again - they did a great job and their responsiveness and professionalism are top notch!

We have used this company before when one of the actuators (the motorized assembly that pull the gate open and shut) failed. They did not do the initial installation. The repair had gone well, so when our battery-operated keypad failed, we called them again--during the Holiday week. The service was prompt, the estimate was what we paid and we got a good install that works much better than our old set-up. This was not a trivial job. It involved trenching and concrete work. Everything was done quickly and without problems.
