If You Want a Builder Who Makes His Problems Yours - Jeff Parks/JC Anderson Is Your Builder I hired Jeff Parks and JC Anderson because during our initial consultation, they assured me that they kept everything in house and didn't subcontract the work. This was a significant factor in my decision, as I wanted a cohesive team who would be fully accountable for each aspect of the project. Unfortunately, that promise quickly unraveled. Contrary to their assurances, they frequently brought in external subcontractors to handle major portions of the work. This led to a lack of consistency and coordination, with subcontractors showing up late or not at all, leaving tasks half-completed and the workspace in disarray. I had to ask Jeff many times to clean up the job site as it was causing damage to things like the flooring and tracks in the sliding doors. This subcontracting not only delayed the timeline further but also resulted in a patchwork of varying quality in the final construction. My house is actually ¼ inch out of level due to the framers work that was never checked by the GC Jeff Parks. I noticed that each subcontractor seemed to work in isolation, with no apparent oversight or communication from Jeff and/or Daniel Lujan his foreman. This fragmented approach meant that errors became more frequent and more severe. Additionally, it was nearly impossible to get a straight answer or accountability when problems arose, as Jeff would deflect blame to the subcontractors, further complicating and prolonging the resolution process. The situation was so dire that I had to have all the tile showers totally pulled out and repaired. If he had listened to me initially or done his job as a GC, they could have addressed the issues before I moved in. the oversight and negligence shown during the shower renovation project. Specifically, the tile benches in the shower were not properly set or checked before tiling began. The lack of this crucial step resulted in significant water damage behind the tile, forcing the removal of tile and requiring the benches to finally be set correctly. Furthermore, when a different contractor redid the shower, they discovered extensive water damage behind the walls—a direct result of Jeff/Daniel’s poor oversight. The contractor also noted that the other showers in the home are likely experiencing the same issues. This situation highlights how a simple act of verifying the work of subcontractors could have prevented these major, costly problems that I have paid for out of pocket and not reimbursed by JC Anderson (AS PROMISSED). Also we have leaks in the roof – in a new home – can you believe that! AND the whole house had to be re-stuccoed….don’t get me started on that!! URGH! One of the most glaring issues was with the installation of the flooring. When the subcontractors laid down the floor, I noticed a lack of protective measures to shield it from ongoing construction. Despite expressing my concerns to Jeff and Daniel, no additional protection was provided (attached are images). Consequently, the flooring suffered extensive damage leaving the flooring unacceptable; they even installed the carpet over dusty un-swept floors and we have yet to get the dust/smell out of the house. Once again Jeff relying on the flooring company to pick up the others construction debris (which they did NOT do). Ultimately, the entire flooring must be pulled up and replaced. This was yet another testament to the overall lack of professionalism and attention to detail that plagued out entire build. Another disheartening aspect was Jeff Parks' frequent absences from the project. He was often away on vacation, boasting about his snowboarding, concerts and indulgences, such as purchasing a new truck. On one occasion, he informed me that he couldn't come to work on my house because he needed to clean his camper refrigerator, which had something rotten in it from a previous camping trip. Jeff and Daniel consistently gaslighted me throughout the entire project. At every turn, they would deny making certain promises or claim that I had misunderstood our agreements. Instead of addressing issues directly, he would deflect and blame me for being too demanding or misinformed. One incident was the refrigerator. I ordered without seeing in person and was assured by Ferguson (appliance store) that my satisfaction was guaranteed. When it arrived, I immediately expressed my concerns and requested that it be returned and replaced with the one I originally wanted that was a recessed (on the plans). Predictably, Jeff dismissed my concerns and insisted that I had agreed to this specific refrigerator. Despite all these issues, Jeff Parks demanded that I pay him in full, assuring me repeatedly that I would not be left hanging. He promised that all the pending work would be completed to my satisfaction, but as of today 17 months (YES 17 months) has gone on, these assurances rang increasingly hollow. Their inability to complete the project on the scheduled timeline meant that interest rates kept rising, which has significantly increased the total amount I have to pay over the length of my loan. To make matters worse, we repeatedly had to apply for extensions on the building loan, each time incurring additional fees and expenses. These prolonged delays have placed a substantial financial burden on me. My HOA is putting pressure on me to get the building permit closed out and Jeff keeps failing the final inspections. FOUR times so far (as of today March 11, 2025)! Despite these repeated failures, he has not even made a trip to the house to assess the situation or review the work that has been done, only relying on me and my photos; I am not a general contractor, yet I have taken it upon myself to address many of the issues in an attempt to move the project forward. This lack of accountability and effort has caused significant stress, both physical and financial. The promise of an all-in-house operation was a complete fabrication, and it set the tone for a project riddled with mismanagement and incompetence. By relying heavily on subcontractors without adequate supervision or communication, Jeff Parks and JC Anderson transformed what should have been a straightforward project into an ongoing ordeal. So much so I feel my house will probably eventually slip into the canyon it is built near. Even 17 months after we moved in there are still a significant amount of unfinished projects, leaky roof, peeling floors and our building permit has not even been closed. I feel deceived and regret having trusted Jeff Parks and JC Anderson with such a significant investment. Attached: images of the messy job site, shotty quality and texts/emails of how he treated me.

Description of Work: Jack Anderson built our home in Mountainair, New Mexico in 2006 to 2007. We live in Washington, DC and so we were building it from a distance. Jack and his on site manager worked closely with us and our architect who designed the home. Our town of Mountainair is about 80 miles from Albuquerque in a development called Deer Canyon Preserve. Jack does quality construction and is very responsive to the homeowners needs. He was easily available by phone or email as was Jeff so if we had any questions they were handled quickly. They had good quality subconstractors as well and we had no issues with them. They also made it fun to work on the house and are very friendly and easy to work with. We love the house and hope to move there full time in a year or so. This is a 3189 sq. ft. home, with two portals and a separate garage in a northern New Mexico style. Call them!

We relocated from the Philadelphia region to Albuquerque, NM in the summer of 2011. We purchased our home in Albuquerque with the intention of putting on an addition and doing a complete renovation of the existing house. JC Anderson was among the four contractors we interviewed for the job. We chose JC Anderson primarily for the following reasons: Our first impression of Jack Anderson, the owner, was very positive; Jack was the only contractor of the four who was prepared to produce an initial estimate after our first meeting; he has a nice personality and is very easy to work with; he was very creative and forthcoming with ideas and suggestions; JC Anderson had excellent references; JC Anderson is knowledgeable of green/ sustainable building technologies and strategies; JC Anderson employs it's own experienced workers and has a cohort of excellent sub-contractors. Our positive gut feeling about JC Anderson played out during the three month construction period. They had a big challenge in managing a fairly complex work schedule while we were living in the house. They bent over backwards to try to accomodate us and minimize disruption as they sequenced and performed the work. In addition, we got to know all of Jack's employees very well and they were all a pleasure to work with (punctual, polite, friendly and helpful). The job foreman was very knowledgeable and always available by phone, text and email and responded to all of our needs in a timely manner. We made several changes to the contract during the process and JC Anderson always responded promptly and with fair pricing. They were able to complete the additional work without delaying the overall project. In fact, they finished a week before the agreed upon completion date. They have since returned a few times to complete minor punchlist items and correct minor issues. The overall knowledge and quality of workmanship displayed by the whyole team was outstanding. Each employee has his own unique talents and they work very well together. I would highly recommend JC Anderson Construction for renovations, additions and new home construction.
Description of Work: JC Anderson was our General Contractor for a 400 sq. foot addition and complete renovation of our existing home. Besides the new addition, we added five solar tube skylights, changed all the floors (mix of new tile and hardwood), added three sets of French doors, replaced all interior doors and hardware, replaced all trim, raised the sunken living room floor, removed a wall, remodeled a bathroom, rebuilt the fireplace with new stone, added custom cabinetry and book cases, upgraded all the lighting and added ceiling fans, added American Clay plaster to the walls in the main living space, and painted throughout the house.
