War Vet Painting

You be the judge if you want to hire this guy or not. Here is what happened in a nut-shell. The house is empty. I am getting ready to move in. We talked, agreed on a price (total job, not by the hour)(house to be painted is approx. 700 sq. ft., kitchen, living room, and bedroom, small closet in living room and small closet in bedroom) and he said he would start the next day. Great, I thought. He picked up the paint and when he got to my house, I paid him for the paint but not the job. The only supplies he brought were: roller(which he charged me for), brushes, and two drop cloths. No news paper, no trash bags, no clean up sponges. Even though the house is empty, I do have a few items in there. I had an old wool blanket on the kitchen counter that I had forgotten to put back in my car. To my horror, it was on the floor being used as a drop cloth. He never asked me if he could use it, he just took it upon himself to use it. Now my wool blanket had paint all over it. Later that night, after he had left. (he didn't finish the job and had to come back the next day) I went to take a shower and was looking for my hair towel. I had put it on a bathroom shelf with my toiletry bag earlier that day. I was not having the bathroom painted. Again to my horror, my hair towel was with his paint supplies full of paint. AGAIN, he did not ask me if he could use it. The next day, he came back to finish up. When he was done, he asked me for a sponge so he could clean up paint drips(which were everywhere). I had just bought a new pack of 3 sponges and I gave him one. A few minutes later, I saw he had helped himself to another one. He didn't even have a trash bag to throw his trash in, I had to give him one. And to boot, he didn't even take the trash with him. Left it for me to take care of. So now the day after the paint job was finished and no more painters, I am hanging curtains, I happen to look out the window, this is a side of the house that is never gone to. When to my horror again, one of my dog beds was thrown behind the house full of paint. He had taken the dog bed from the front of the house and now threw it in the back, hoping I wouldn't see it, I guess. As for me, I will not hire him ever again. I will pay a little more for integrity.
