McKay Construction

It was a wonderful experiane. The workers were kind and nice. Stayed late when needed. Made sure I was happy with all of the colors and tiles that I picked. Explained everthing with the pricing and the amount of time it was going to take. Very fast workers. You can tell the supervisor tried his best to make everthing perfect.

end of august 3 bids were put in for the work, McKay's was the middle one for 4549.58, work was to begin sept with three people and all supplies already to go. A deposit of 2425.00 was given( in good faith) for supplies. I looked at the cost being charged for the stone and Vigga's and told McKay where cheaper ones could be purchased. the Viga's were but not the stone. He saaid he needed it delivered. Work began with two people, when he brought a smal lbobcat to leval the area, and dug up the electric cable to the barn twice having to replace it,the stone was brought in on his own large trailer and put on the grass(it died) and a load of stone was delivered and placed on the front lawn and driveway ( it died ) after the leavleing was done and the viga's were placed ands the weed barrier and seperation landscape barrier placed I mentioned that the barrier was not spiked in to the ground as it should be and that the electricity was shorting out to the two oulets. McKay came to us to say the price would be increasing because 1) he had to rent a bob-cat (due to his being broken) 2) he had under estimated the amount of stone required, 3) he had to pay more for the help as it was taking longer than he estimated and 4) he was losing money on the deal which was unacceptable to him. He was told to leave out the bricked out area and I was asking for no money back, I told him I was not responsible for the broken equipment , nor the amount he underestimated the supplies nor his labor costs( did I mention there were only two people working untill the last day, when the third showed up) and offered two checks one for 2124.50, the original estimated cost, and another for3860.31 which were his late charges. when he asked why two checks, I asked him to not charge me for his mistakes....He said no ! in leau of having a lein placed on my property I opted to give him his full demand.
